An excellent home. The caring ethos and atmosphere at Millfield is a credit to all the staff. The home is beautifully clean, and the food is excellent. Staff are always polite and happy and the care they show towards the residents is evident. When mum moved into Millfield we were very concerned that she would find it difficult to settle and be very upset at leaving behind her beloved dog “Oscar” an eleven-year-old Spaniel who had been her constant companion. Seeing this, the staff at the home suggested that Oscar move in as well and even implemented a care plan for him. They could not have done more and knowing just what Oscar means to mum we can’t thank them enough. Mum and Oscar have just spent their first Christmas at Millfield and it has been a lovely experience. Staff have gone above and beyond to ensure that everyone has had a lovely time, the effort they have put into everything from organising events, special meals and decorating the home is a credit to them all. Thankyou Millfield

My friend was admitted to Millfield in a very anxious state, but over the months we have seen a steady improvement. She is eating well and has commented that the food is good. She is joining in some activities and this is good considering she is a very private person and very much a loner. We are very pleased with the atmosphere in Millfield and the way all residents are treated with the utmost respect. Thank you to all the staff.

Placing a loved one in care is never an easy choice though Millfield has exceeded all my expectations with their treatment of both mother and the family alike. The home is first class both in terms of cleanliness both more importantly with regards to a caring ethos. They could not have done more to accommodate and the transition has gone very well. Mum is now looking and feeling so much better a true testament.

I came to visit my life-long friend for the first time on her 80th birthday party. I travelled up from Devon for this occasion. I was very impressed by the care and attention given to the residents. I had lunch with my friend and found the food excellent - superb soup. The staff were so helpful in every way in preparing the room etc for the party.

We had a wonderful time. On the next day, my friend and I were given permission to use the piano in the dining room. We had a great time.

This care home is excellent. All aspects of provision are good from the food, to the warm welcome to the care itself. My mother has settled in very quickly and is happy in her home. The activities are given a high priority and are of good quality. I enjoy visiting my mother at Millfield, it feels welcoming and homely and staff are friendly and responsive.

My own and Dad's experiences so far have been all positive. My Dad was at a very low ebb on arrival after difficult times in his previous care home. He is now much happier and content thanks to your wonderful staff, who look after him with care and dignity. He appreciates all your help, although sometimes forgets to show it. A special thanks to his key worker and kitchen staff for looking after us both on many occasions.

Such a care home must at all times have a friendly and approachable staff. This is most important. This is achieved here.

I believe my mother is in good, caring hands.

I particularly like the gardens and summer house.

Well done to all.

Our uncle is very happy at Millfield and settled instantly after a long stay in the hospital, then just over a week in another care home. The staff at Millfield are so professional, caring and always smiling. The food which I have tried myself is excellent. There are varied activities daily. We can visit any time of day and all staff are hospitable, the home is very clean and always tidy. We visited lots of homes before visiting Millfield but as soon as we walked in we knew this was the right place for him. We know the level of care he will receive the best and he is secure and safe in a very homely well decorated fresh smelling caring environment.

Since going in on a trial basis to see if a care home environment was suitable, every employee we have spoken with or observed have been nothing short of fantastic, be it from showing care to the residents or answering questions from visitors.

I was very upset and heartbroken when I was told my mum and dad had to go into a care home. Myself and my daughter went to look around about 4 homes but as soon as we walked into Millfield I knew this was the one for my parents. The home is beautiful and the staff and management are amazing. The care my mum and dad receive is fantastic and when I walk in it's just such a happy environment and the staff are such a good team and like one big happy family. My parents have been in Millfield for a year now and are very settled. Well done Millfield I would recommend to anyone.

Dad moved into Millfield in September. He was very warmly welcomed although it did take him a while to settle himself in. He suffers from dementia and found the transfer from living alone to all the company and constant activities quite difficult to get used to.
However, the staff are outstanding the home itself I liken to a 4 star hotel. It is spotlessly clean and the food is excellent!!

All the staff and helpers seem to genuinely care for all the residents and their needs. Our family feel Dad being there has enhanced his life and we feel he couldn't be anywhere better.

From the first time of entering the home to view, we felt a warmth that confirmed the home was the right place for our Mum to be looked after for the rest of her life. She has lived at Millfield now for 9 months and we are so pleased and happy with the care and attention the whole staff take to look after her.

The home is modern, bright and very clean and cosy. Mum is well fed, well looked after and I would definitely recommend Millfield to anyone.

My mum has been in Millfield since the end of April and we have been really happy with her care and the kindness of all the staff. It was her 91st Birthday last week and we were thrilled and so was my mum that all the staff made her day very special. We spent the say with her having a lovely lunch all the staff came with a cake and candles and a present they sang happy birthday to her.
After lunch, they had organised and entertainer which mum and the other residents really enjoyed and so did we.

They all had a sing song and sang happy birthday to her. A perfect day with many thanks to all the staff they were wonderful.

I received a warm welcome and given a very pleasant light and clean room. The staff were very friendly, introduced themselves and nothing was too much trouble. My only disappointment was the length of time taken to answer the "buzzer" in my room, on the rare occasions I needed to use it. The bed was changed weekly but I did not see anyone 'clean' (hoover/dust) my room. Perhaps I was expected to do this myself.

My mum is extremely happy at Millfield. All the staff are very friendly and cannot do enough for you. There are activities all the time if you wish to join in. The food has improved a lot since she arrived and if she doesn't want what's on the menu they are always happy to find something she prefers. It is bright and clean and with a good sized room. With all the various living rooms - there is always a room to suit her mood. I would highly recommend it.

My mother has now been a resident of Millfield for about 9 years.
She has never received anything but the absolute best of care. The staff (many of whom have been at Millfield for the duration of my mother's stay) are unbelievably kind and considerate. They have not only cared for my mother with respect and attention to personal detail but also for me in the times that my mother's ever increasing dementia has been hard to accept. I would certainly now consider some of them to be my friends.

I would not hesitate to recommend this wonderful care home to anyone.

Mum has now been in the care home for 4 months. On initially going in, she would not join in any activities and stayed in her room other than for meals. The staff continued asking and supporting her to join in and she is now a different person, joining in all the activities and enjoying herself. Relatives have commented that she is much brighter and chattier now than she has been in a long time.

The food is good and fresh and all the staff I have met are happy, chatty and respectful.

I know my mother is being well cared for at Millfield. She is treated with respect at all times by staff who are friendly, patient and dedicated to the well-being of their residents. There is always a welcome and friendly greeting for anyone who visits.
The food is praised by all - there is always a good choice of appetising meals on the menu. The food is well prepared and presented.
Entertainments, outings or activities are part of the schedule which make a welcome change for those able and desiring to participate.

Millfield is a lovely place with a homely atmosphere and it gives my brother and me peace of mind to know that my mother, independent well into her 90s and unwilling to leave her home, is happy, comfortable and contented (her words) there.

Millfield continues to provide exemplary standards of care. The same high standards I have witnessed for more than 6 years. Without a doubt, my aunt would have gone into a sharp decline without the high degree of formal attention and affection given to her in this care home.
