I wanted to write this review after my parents had been in Roby Lodge for six months to reassure other families that things get better. The staff are professional, friendly and also support me on my down days. I would like to thank all the staff for caring so well for my mum and dad. It really is now
their home. I did bring my mum home for the night while my dad had a short stay in hospital but, she did not settle all night. There was pure joy when she got back to Roby Lodge and I now know she is "home".

We looked at many homes for some respite care for my Mum and were offered a room at Roby Lodge. From our very first visit, everyone was very welcoming, answered every question we had and the available room was perfect for Mums needs. We had no hesitation in accepting the room for an initial two weeks
respite.
I am very pleased to say that at the end of the stay Mum had enjoyed it so much she decided she wanted to stay permanently. I cannot fault the caring nature of the staff, they are constantly checking on my Mum, encouraging her to get involved and constantly topping her up with cups of tea etc. Mum is far more stimulated, feels safe and secure and she has generally been much better since she went to Roby Lodge.


We have been particularly impressed by the Manager who is very much involved with the residents and has done everything possible to help Mum settle in. They have gone that extra step and it is lovely to see Mum settled and happy. Thank you..

My mother was recommended by social services for respite care at Roby Lodge from April 12th. My first impressions were very good. We had a thorough home assessment by the deputy manager and on taking my mother, she was greeted well and treated with respect. We have since decided that long term care
is required and are very happy to stay Roby Lodge. All the staff are very professional, caring and helpful. My mother has settled very well.

My Dad has been here approximately 3 weeks.
He settled in very quickly with the help of the brilliant staff.
Rooms are always clean and tidy.
Food is good, my Dad enjoys it.
A lovely quiet lounge if people need it and the communal lounge is always busy with staff and other residents.
TV or music
is always on and jigsaws and books etc to keep residents entertained.

The staff are very nice and the home is fairly new. My mum was an emergency placement. She was here for 6 weeks prior to us moving her. In the end, we felt we had no choice if we wanted to keep her well cared for. There was very little in terms of social interaction so it meant residents were sat in
chairs all day with little to do. We often went in and found Mum sitting in the chair wet and without a pad in place. Her dignity was lost. Clothes went missing never to return despite them being labelled. After only a week another resident pushed Mum to the floor. When I spoke to the staff they were very defensive and angry. I accept these things can happen but they also need to understand that as a family we want information and reassurance, not excuses. It is short staffed. Mum's dementia deteriorated significantly when she was here. The CQC report has rated this home as good but in my opinion, that is hard to agree with. I am so glad we moved her as she is much more settled now.

My dad settled in well at the home due to the caring nature of the staff. My family and I are always made very welcome when we visit the home. I just feel that sometimes when I visit the home could do with more staff.

My mother-in-law moved into Roby Lodge about two months ago. Since moving in she has been treated with respect and kindness by all members of staff. She always looks well cared for and appears to be happy where she is. I feel that the staff communicate well with us and we are kept informed about her
well being. I feel that Roby Lodge has exceeded all our hopes and expectations and am happy to recommend it.

From personal experience of care homes over many years, I feel Roby Lodge rates favourably within the umbrella of good staffing. Management trained to ensure each resident can expect to receive a complete understanding of their illness - patience, dignity and care, along with courteousness to families.
However,
an extra pair of hands or two would certainly be welcomed especially when staff are writing of their reports and at the same time, expected to keep an extremely watchful and safe eye on the residents and attend to their well-being requests.

I have been coming here for over 7 weeks and find it a nice environment for my dad.

My Father is in Roby Lodge for respite care.
The manager gave us good guidance on admittance.
The staff are all helpful and attentive to my father's needs.
Communication has been very good.
I can't really comment on value for money at the moment as we only pay a contribution to the full charge at
the moment.

The manager and staff are very friendly and approachable. My mother has been a resident since September. The care of my mother has been great. I am very grateful to the staff and never need worry over her. She is always treated with care and respect from all the staff. Staff are always open and honest
when I ask how my mother has been whether it's in person or via phone call. To be able to have this trust and good communication with her care home has really helped us as a family to know that we made the right choice.

Since my mother came to Roby Lodge, it took a few weeks for her to settle in. I wish to thank the staff for their dedication and kindness, for seeing this through now she has settled in, she is a different person. I am more than happy with the care she receives here. All the staff are fantastic.

I am impressed with the above care home, finding that all the staff are seriously involved in understanding and feeling for all the dementia patients.


The rooms are as good if not better than a lot of hotels I have stayed in. The standard of Roby Lodge id excellent.

I have found my experience excellent.
It is obviously a difficult time when you learn a loved one cannot live at home.
The staff have welcomed my mother, interact with her and speak to her in a respectful, dignified, human way.
Staff always respond to my calls/enquiries about my mother (and I can
compare this to an experience of another home my mother was initially in which was negative).
The staff have helped my experience at a traumatic time be much easier.

My brother and I are very grateful to Roby Lodge for giving us peace of mind. We know that our Mum is safe and being well cared for and the staff always have her best interests at heart. My Mum recently had a hospital appointment and a carer from the home accompanied her on the journey to the hospital
and attended the appointment with me and mum. It was really helpful to have her day to day knowledge of my mum's condition. My mum has been a resident for two and a half years and since the new management has taken over there have been many improvements, particularly in providing activities for the residents and in the manager's determination to provide the best care possible for every resident.

This is a lovely home. Residents are well cared for and are happy.


The staff are lovely and nothing is too much for them. There is regular entertainment or activities to occupy everyone.


They have an open door policy and are a great support for families if there is a problem.

My sister is on respite for two weeks with the view to staying full time. The manager and every member of staff have been so kind and considerate to us, at a very stressful and upsetting time.
Nothing has been any trouble to them. Anything we as a family have asked for or needed has been dealt with
promptly.
My sister's needs seem to be met and she appears to be happy at this time.

My experience of the home is:
The communal area is quite poor. The T.V. lounge, dining area and kitchen are all in the same room. Not much room to swing a cat. The staff are nice, although the turnover is high, probably to do with the salary they are paid.
My sister seems to wear other peoples clothes
a lot, not very nice.

The home my mum was in was closing down. The manager at Roby Lodge was amazing she brought mum in to let her choose which room she would like, the staff are really lovely they've all made mum feel very welcome. The manager asks mum if everything is going well is there anything she or the girls can do
for her. There are days out and meals out for the residents, anything I need to ask there is always someone to ask. I have worked in care for 21 years and I'm really happy that when I go home mum is safe and getting looked after. Thank you for giving me peace of mind.
