My auntie has been cared for at St. Helens Hall and Lodge and I cannot thank the staff enough for the kindness and compassion they have shown her. She is in the end stages of dementia and the care, patience, and love they show towards her means so much to our family.
I would especially like to mention Sharon, Joanne and Michelle, who have all been wonderful. They have been incredibly caring towards my auntie and very supportive and helpful to me and my family during such a difficult time. They always keep us informed and are there if we have any questions or worries.
The home itself is always clean, tidy and welcoming. It gives us great comfort knowing my auntie is being looked after so well.
I am very pleased that we chose St. Helens Hall and Lodge for my auntie's care and I'm very grateful to all the staff for everything they do.
Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review for St Helens Hall. Your positive feedback is greatly appreciated, and I will most certainly pass your comments on to the mentioned staff and the team. As a team, we strive to provide the best care possible for our residents, and I am very pleased to hear that your Auntie is happy and well cared for and that the family feel supported. Thank you.
Regular activities organised for residents and families. Safe and friendly place to be.
Regular mealtimes help with visits.
St Helens Hall has been home to my mother for the majority of this year and the welcome was nothing less than warm and very helpful. I feel safe in the knowledge that she is now safe and in the hands of those who genuinely care. She has regular activities that she loves and keep her stimulated. They are also really supportive of us as a family which is also very important. We could not have chosen better
Brother-in-law was extremely weak and vulnerable, needing careful attention. All aspects of his welfare were well catered for until his health deteriorated sufficiently to require hospitalisation. All staff members were excellent with their care.
I live in Australia and have recently visited my Mum (for the first time since she moved to the care home) a number of times during my UK stay. It was reassuring to observe Mum in a bright, welcoming environment with caring staff. It was good to put faces to names of staff who answer the phone when I call from Australia.
Hi can't say enough about St helens care home .the staff or brilliant very helpful they do alot of activities and they get my mum involved the best.way possible with her disability. Mum says the food.is very good.and plentiful. It puts families at ease knowing that my mum will be well looked after.well done to all of you and thank you for all you do xxx
They genuinely cared for mum and went above and beyond to make her stay comfortable
They keep you updated if they have any health issues which is so reassuring.
The facilities in the home are superb. Movie room, quiet lounges, other lounges. Activities.
10/10 for everything.
The staff in this home are amazing my father had a rare illness psp he was more than a handful yet they gave him the best care we were welcome anytime of the day and night i never worried about him me and sister went daily at different times and all residents were treated the same a big thank you to all the staff your angels
Care for my mother is complex however staff meet the challenges and make Mum comfortable safe and happy. She is treated with love, kindness and dignity. Facilities are spotless and every care is taken to make it feel like home.
We are so grateful to her and all the other amazing staff.
Dad is very happy, safe, well-supported and cared for by all members of the staff.
We are pleased Dad has the lodge for his home.
Thank you for the review. We will pass on your kind words to all the staff.
The food and drink do seem ok, however, it would be hard to give it a 5-star rating.
Although the rooms are basic, they are clean and basically do the job.
Value for money is a difficult one, as it all does seem so expensive, however, it falls into line with other homes so can't be argued against.
These points considered, the overall quality of care is 5 stars, it's an amazing place, the activities are consistent and frequent, the communication is always good, Mum is never stressed, she does seem happy there, and we would all be in a state without the people in this home.
Thank you.
Since my Mum went into St. Helens Hall and Lodge in April 2024 I have been very pleased with the care that my Mum has received. All staff are warm and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Thank you all so much for taking the time to make sure my Mum is settled and happy in her new environment.
My mother has been in the care home for 2 years and has been treated with dignity and respect at all times. Nothing is too much trouble for all staff. Families are treated with lots of care and compassion.
Dad is very happy here and tells me the staff are all lovely and kind. He’s content, calm and safe, which they’ve worked hard to achieve by delivering his emotional and physical needs. My personal experience has always been good. Any issues are sorted quickly and the staff, whatever grade, are cheerful and helpful. There’s lots of laughter, empathy and oodles of compassion which is what makes it a special place for our dad to call his home.
We are delighted with the facilities and the staff. We could not speak more highly of the place and the people.
My sister goes to see Mum virtually every day whereas I live in Bournemouth so attend when I can and am greeted with a friendly reception always.
Thank you.

I feel there could be more activities for the residents for example art classes. The food on the whole is okay but I feel there needs to be a greater variety. My relative is safe and has settled in well.

Mum is well looked after. There appear to be lots of activities for the residents both inside and outside of the home, and the staff are hard-working, caring and committed. It is sometimes difficult to get through on the phone.

The care received by my mum has been fantastic. Right through and after Covid, they have worked so hard to keep people safe and keep relatives informed. Staff are always cheerful and helpful, and the activities are marvellous. I can't recommend St Helens Hall highly enough.

Meet the Team (4)

Amanda started her career in care over 20 years ago and she has worked in every area of St Helens Hall and knows the environment inside and out. Amanda has completed NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care. Amanda has also completed her Level 5 Management Qualification, and she has completed a Level 2 in Dementia Care, End of Life Care, Nutrition and Equality and Diversity.
In October 2015, Amanda was appointed as the Registered Home Manager of St Helens Hall to ensure we deliver excellent standards of care for all our residents. Amanda feels very passionate about her role and making a difference through ‘Good Quality Care.’ And so the journey continues for St Helens Hall to be ‘outstanding’ in all areas by the regulator, CQC.

I worked in retail for many years, but due to the closure of TJ Hughes in 2011, I started working for a domiciliary company. I found the job very rewarding and thoroughly enjoyed my work.
I wanted to work in a home and had heard such good reviews of St Helens Hall that I started working here in 2012 as a Senior Care Assistant in the residential unit. After two years I was promoted to Deputy Manager on the EMI unit and in May 2018 I was promoted to Care Manager.
During my time working here, I have found the home to be exceptional in all areas, and the care and support given to all residents and staff to be outstanding. The home feels welcoming and friendly.
I find my work very rewarding. Knowing that I am supporting people and making a difference in someone's life is an amazing feeling.

I joined St Helens Hall as the Senior Activities Coordinator in 2013. Since then, I have been providing meaningful and fun activities for the residents.
I am always coming up with new ideas alongside being crafty. I like to make all the residents smile and get them stuck in our day-to-day activities. Watching them enjoy new experiences makes the job worth it.
In my spare time at home, I like to make things for others to enjoy.

I became a cook at St Helen's Hall in 2012. On a daily basis, I prepare menus and cook delicious food for our residents, accommodating dietary needs. My favourite thing to do is to look for fancy decorations to add to my cupcakes for the home’s coffee mornings. I am most proud of my tasty Sunday Lunch with all the trimmings, it’s even better when I get to watch all the residents enjoy it.
I love all aspects of cooking for my residents to make sure they are enjoying all their meals. Baking is my favourite hobby; I love to get creative with new recipes and make yummy cupcakes and biscuits for everyone to share.
