St Helens Hall

My father has been a resident at St Helens Hall & Lodge for just over two years, and for the duration of that time, my family and I have been very impressed with both the quality of the overall care he has received and the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff. I have had to communicate often with staff at the home, either by email or phone as matters have arisen, and have always found them to be very responsive and professional. This has been especially so over the last eighteen months and the impact of the necessary COVID restriction as they were implemented. A difficult time for everyone, I and my wider family think was handled well by management and staff. Based on my experience, I would have no hesitation in recommending St Helens Hall & Lodge.

My mum came to live in St Helens Hall just over 3-years ago. Prior to this, she had lived independently in her own home, until a bad fall meant she then needed a lot more assistance. It was her own choice to move into a care home, but we selected St Helens Hall on the recommendation of a Social Worker. What a perfect choice we made! The management team are excellent and very approachable. The staff are extremely friendly, caring and communicative - nothing is ever too much trouble. Most important of all - my mum is very happy. She had a wonderful 100th birthday celebration there with her family around her, just under two years ago.

The last 16-months have been a very challenging time for all, but I can’t imagine what it has been like for the staff: putting themselves at great risk every day whilst looking after and protecting our loved ones, until vaccines made things easier, but we are not out of the woods yet. I can’t thank them enough - I am so grateful to these true heroes.

My dad was in St Helens Hall for a short while; he was really happy there. Words cannot express how lovely and caring every single one of the staff was. They could not do enough for my dad. I would highly recommend St Helens Hall to anyone if they needed care.

The care my mother has received has been excellent. The staff have a genuine interest in her comfort and welfare and nothing is too much trouble. Every concern is acted upon, all staff are approachable and deliver high standards of care. I would not hesitate to recommend to my family and friends. Thank you to the team - outstanding.

The family cannot thank all the staff for the being there for us in our time of need. My mum and our family spent my mums last weeks together in the home and will be ever grateful to all at St Helen's Hall & Lodge for the excellent caring environment they provided to our mum whilst she resided there.

There are various activities offered on a daily basis and trips out which the residents look forward to. I would have no hesitation in recommending St Helens Hall and Lodge to anyone who needed residential care.

Choosing a care home is one of the most difficult things I have done. I viewed all the relevant homes in St Helens leaving in despair. The minute I walked into St Helens Hall & Lodge and spoke to staff I knew this was the right one. I hadn’t made an appointment but was shown around. Mum has now been a resident in the Lodge for 12mths and settled well. It also takes time for the family to adapt to this way of life for their loved one, but the staff are brilliant, being approachable if any concerns. Mum is always clean and usually very happy, her room is also clean and tidy. At mealtimes, the staff cater to her abilities. There are plenty of activities going on that mum can be a part of and enjoy. I often visit to find staff singing and encouraging residents to join in, brilliant. The staff treat all residents with dignity and I know my mum is safe and cared for. Thank you to all the staff, I’m so very grateful to you all.

My mum became a resident in January 2019. She has had excellent care, her needs are reviewed in a regular basis. We, as a family, have been consulted about her needs and any treatment needed. The team are always looking to make her life better and stimulate her. She is always treated with dignity and compassion. They have made our lives a lot easier knowing she is being treated as we would treat her. Can only say, thank you.

Although the standard is very high, at times it seems short-staffed. The residents all seem happy and content.

Seems well organised with caring staff. We have no complaints so far.

I have found all the staff to be approachable and friendly, and the treat all the residents with dignity and respect. My Nan was a very independent, strong character; but she has settled in really well and tells me every time I visit how well she's looked after. Her only concern is that she wouldn't be able to stay here! If she wasn't happy with any of her care she would 100% let me know. But she can't speak highly enough of The Lodge, she loves it here. In fact, she has smiled and laughed more since being in The Lodge than she has done in the last 10 years; which is the biggest gift of all.

I am very impressed by all aspects of the care home by way of being clean and spacious. The rooms are good and all the staff I have met were very approachable, helpful and friendly and I feel they deliver a good standard of care to my relatives.

My sister-in-law has been well cared for at St Helens Lodge. All the staff, including managerial and administrative, know her personally and are able to discuss her wellbeing. I was extremely concerned when my sister-in-law first had to go into a care home but have been reassured by my experience of the level of care provided by all.

The staff have been really helpful in settling him in and reassuring myself at all times.

My wife has vascular dementia/reason for me with her help to do this review.

My brother has been in St Helens Hall and Lodge for around 7 years now. Before we went there we had a look at various other homes and this care home outstood, and after seven years I am still not disappointed. The place is always clean and tidy, my brother's always clean and tidy, the management are always welcoming a smile and a chat and always make you feel good along with the staff and are very professional. Many thanks to them for everything they do.

Mother always happy with meals when asked what she has eaten and happy with her care.

I am extremely grateful for the excellent care given to my husband while in St Helens Hall Lodge. You were all angels and will always remain in my prayers.

My Mum lived in Bexhill on Sea and due to Safe Guarding issues I desperately needed to have Mum transferred nearer to myself. A member of staff at said home drove down to review Mum, no issue at all doing this. From the moment Mum came to live here she has been cared for in the highest possible level. Staff genuinely care and look after Mum. Mum hasn't once said she wants to go home and has actually stated she is home. I have ill health myself and never worry about Mum if I can't visit. Thank you so much St Helens Hall and Lodge.

The staff, on the whole, are kind, caring and do their best on a daily basis to meet the residents' needs, although at times are really stretched. More staff would enhance the residents' experience.
