My husband's currently staying at St Helens Hall on a period of respite care.
The welcome he has received has been outstanding. The staff are knowledgeable and very attentive. They make everyone, including the wider family, feel welcome and involved.
The vibe is great, lots of laughter, and that’s down to the staff who go above and beyond to help and support us all.

Thank you.

My mother has lived at St Helens Hall since July 2021, and after a difficult first few months, (probably common to most new residents), she settled well and has been very happy ever since. Her room, like all others, is ensuite and nicely furnished and carpeted, with more than adequate storage and even a small fridge. The entire home is spotlessly clean: there is never an unpleasant smell, unlike many other care homes I have visited, where food or urine smells are present. Most importantly, the staff are extremely pleasant, kind and caring. There is regular entertainment provided, and residents are free to wander between lounges and their rooms, allowing them to socialise or relax as they choose. My only criticism relates to communication: it isn’t always easy to get through on the phone, and information given to one member of staff is not always made available to others regarding residents’ dietary and beverage preferences or laundry services.

My mum has been a resident at St Helens Hall since late 2021. We were worried about how she would adapt as she never wanted to leave her own home, however, she has settled well and is happy there, which has been a relief for my sister and me. The home is clean and well maintained, and the staff are friendly and appear to know the residents well and their little foibles! Communication is good, and the staff keep us well informed of Mum's situation and any other developments. I would certainly recommend St Helens Hall to Families considering residential care for their loved ones. Thank you to all the staff.

Our good friend has been at St Helen's Hall for a few years now and is very happy there. He is very well looked after and receives all the care he could possibly need. Due to our health, we don't see him as often as we would like, but the staff are so good, that if he needs anything, they will phone us and let us know. We would recommend St Helens Hall to anybody who needs to have a loved one cared for, the staff there are good professionals, and we have always found them polite. Definitely, five stars.

This has been a difficult year for us with Mum breaking her hip last Easter.
And with Easter fast approaching, Mum has always visited my home for Easter lunch, but I am hoping that the Covid restrictions may be lifted if all tests are ok.
She is 97, and time with Mum is precious to us... with Mum.
The staff do an amazing job, and I have got to know them well and feel as though I can talk to them when I need to.
Mum does always say the food is excellent and always looks very appetising.

Well done to all concerned.

Great care home. My mother has been a resident for over 19 months; she's well looked after, the rooms are modern and clean, and the staff always have time for you when we visit and are always very good with my mother. The activities are great - always go out of their way to get the residents involved. I'm always kept up to date with my mother's health and safety, so I have peace of mind.

My mother has lived in the Lodge at St Helens Hall for the last three years. She suffers from dementia. My mum feels safe and cared for, and her medical conditions are well managed. I've found the staff to be very caring and considerate and are always willing to answer your questions. Her room is bright and warm, and she has an ensuite bathroom which we felt was very important for her dignity.
I receive regular updates on Mum, and residents' families are now able to attend Teams meetings with the team, which are really useful when you are working full time and unable to attend meetings in person.

During the lockdown and under very difficult circumstances, the staff went out of their way to try to ensure that residents were able to have as many visits as possible when restrictions allowed for family and did not feel totally cut off from their families.

My mum is currently in St Helens Hall as part of respite care. I can only speak exceedingly highly of the facilities and staff, one of whom in particular. She appears to genuinely care about the residents, which has made taking the difficult decision to facilitate my mum there that little bit easier. It also gives myself, my dad and extended family peace of mind that our loved ones’ needs are being met with care and attention. Big thanks to the team.

Thank you.

My nan became a resident in 2020, the year of Covid. She was cared for by both the Hall and Lodge, and they really looked after her as we weren't allowed in due to restrictions. I can honestly say, if it wasn't for the home, we would not have been able to care for her. Overall, the home treated and looked after Nan amazingly, and I would highly recommend.

I have been impressed by the courtesy of the staff, how helpful they are, and the kindness extended by the staff to the residents. The person that I am responsible for is very happy at the home, and seems to have taken to care home life well and gets on with the staff and fellow residents. She said she like the food. I have been impressed by the way the home has dealt with the Covid-19 restrictions, both for the staff, residents and visitors alike. It is good to know that the person is happy, safe and well cared for, which is a great relief to me.

On 23rd December I had a visit to see my nan, no one contacted me to tell me it was cancelled and my uncle had spoken to someone yesterday about my visit and was told I'd still be able to see my nan, and I was turned away. Nor did you offer me a pod visit or window visit with me coming all the way from Blackpool.

It's not just Christmas, but it's my nan's 71st anniversary today hence the visit was booked for 23rd and was arranged to go to grandad's grave, so yes I'm not happy with my experience I got today and the way the carer handled this situation wasn't professional at all; 'sorry you can't see your nan' and was told to leave the premises!

My father has been a resident at St Helens Hall & Lodge for just over two years, and for the duration of that time, my family and I have been very impressed with both the quality of the overall care he has received and the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff. I have had to communicate often with staff at the home, either by email or phone as matters have arisen, and have always found them to be very responsive and professional. This has been especially so over the last eighteen months and the impact of the necessary COVID restriction as they were implemented. A difficult time for everyone, I and my wider family think was handled well by management and staff. Based on my experience, I would have no hesitation in recommending St Helens Hall & Lodge.

My mum came to live in St Helens Hall just over 3-years ago. Prior to this, she had lived independently in her own home, until a bad fall meant she then needed a lot more assistance. It was her own choice to move into a care home, but we selected St Helens Hall on the recommendation of a Social Worker. What a perfect choice we made! The management team are excellent and very approachable. The staff are extremely friendly, caring and communicative - nothing is ever too much trouble. Most important of all - my mum is very happy. She had a wonderful 100th birthday celebration there with her family around her, just under two years ago.

The last 16-months have been a very challenging time for all, but I can’t imagine what it has been like for the staff: putting themselves at great risk every day whilst looking after and protecting our loved ones, until vaccines made things easier, but we are not out of the woods yet. I can’t thank them enough - I am so grateful to these true heroes.

My mum lived at St Helen's Hall & Lodge for 2 and a half years prior to her passing away in December 2018. Mum was very well taken care of and treated with respect and dignity. Mum was very settled living there.

When my mother-in-law reached a stage in her life where she needed to move into a care home, my husband and I were very apprehensive as she has always been an extremely independent lady. When she moved in she found it very difficult to accept the communal way of living (not having her own front door) but the staff were extremely kind and patient, encouraging her to mix with the other residents.
She has now made friends with other residents and joins in as many activities as possible. The home offers a clean, safe and pleasant environment and family and friends are always made welcome. Staff and management are friendly and approachable, many of who go beyond their duties for the residents.

There are various activities offered on a daily basis and trips out which the residents look forward to. I would have no hesitation in recommending St Helens Hall and Lodge to anyone who needed residential care.

I worked in retail for many years, but due to the closure of TJ Hughes in 2011, I started working for a domiciliary company. I found the job very rewarding and thoroughly enjoyed my work.

I wanted to work in a home and had heard such good reviews of St Helens Hall that I started working here in 2012 as a Senior Care Assistant in the residential unit.

After two years I was promoted to Deputy Manager on the EMI unit and in May 2018 I was promoted to Care Manager.

During my time working here, I have found the home to be exceptional in all areas, and the care and support given to all residents and staff to be outstanding. The home feels welcoming and friendly.

I find my work very rewarding. Knowing that I am supporting people and making a difference in someone's life is an amazing feeling.

I joined St Helens Hall as the Senior Activities Coordinator in 2013. Since then, I have been providing meaningful and fun activities for the residents.

I am always coming up with new ideas alongside being crafty. I like to make all the residents smile and get them stuck in our day-to-day activities. Watching them enjoy new experiences makes the job worth it.

In my spare time at home, I like to make things for others to enjoy.

I became a cook at St Helen's Hall in 2012. On a daily basis, I prepare menus and cook delicious food for our residents, accommodating dietary needs. My favourite thing to do is to look for fancy decorations to add to my cupcakes for the home’s coffee mornings. I am most proud of my tasty Sunday Lunch with all the trimmings, it’s even better when I get to watch all the residents enjoy it.

I love all aspects of cooking for my residents to make sure they are enjoying all their meals. Baking is my favourite hobby; I love to get creative with new recipes and make yummy cupcakes and biscuits for everyone to share.
