Connell Court offers warm and welcoming residential care for up to 37 residents in purpose-built, ensuite accommodation in beautiful Birkdale. The passionate team provides person-centred care in a home-from-home setting. Connell Court also offers short-term respite care.

As soon as you arrive, you'll see why people consider Connell Court a second family. A highly-trained team of dedicated and experienced staff works hard to ensure that the people in their care, and their friends and family, feel truly at home.

Staff encourage residents to live the life they want to lead: shared living/dining areas provide opportunities to interact with the tight-knit community, whilst they also encourage independence and pursuit of individual interests, through access to numerous activities as well as support with specific medical requirements.

The activities team prepares a weekly schedule promoting physical, mental and social stimulation, offering group activities, as well as 1 to1 time. They value the stories and experiences of all residents in their care, getting to know each individual, their achievements and hobbies and will adapt their interests into the activities they provide.

In addition to a diverse diary of daily activities that take place in the home, they also focus on themed days, afternoon outings, local entertainment in the home, as well as meaningful moments. Every occasion is celebrated at Connell Court. Whether its a cream tea afternoon, a Ukelele lesson, or a talk on Charles Dickens, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

My mother-in-law entered the home in January and she was immediately made to feel welcome.
She is very happy there with a range of activities to join in if she wants to and lovely facilities.
All the staff have been friendly and there has been very strong communication between them and the family
to keep us appraised of how she is getting on.

I stayed for 3 weeks of respite over Christmas and the new year following surgery. The food and entertainment during my stay were both excellent. The chef went to a lot of trouble with the festive menus and the dining room and communal areas was decorated beautifully. The staff were helpful and friendly.
I was glad I chose Connell Court and would happily stay there again.

The care and attention that my mother, who resides at Connell Court Care Home, is receiving from each of the carers is exceptional! Each carer expresses their personality, from one carer who shows off his dance moves, to all the other amazing carers who take time to chat and get a smile from my mother,
reassuring her if she gets anxious.

My mother-in-law was reluctant to stay in a care home but after a week she settled in nicely and is enjoying the care given by Connell Court and if she likes it, it must be excellent. We are pleased with everything and would recommend to anyone.

I would like to take a minute to thank all the staff at Connell Court Care Home for all the care and attention they have bestowed on my mother who has been with them since September 2020.
It has been a difficult time for people to be away from their family but the staff and residents are now Mum’s
new family.
The last two months have been particularly difficult as Mum had health problems and has just spent over three weeks in hospital.
She is now back in her lovely room, well cared for and I am able to discuss her care there in detail with several of the staff I now know well.
If it’s not good enough for their mum it’s not good enough for mine is their attitude which is exactly how it should be.

As someone who lives overseas and has been unable until now to visit, I can only speak in the highest regard for the level of care my mum receives at Connell Court Care Home. Staff have worked so hard to ensure I've been able to Zoom and phone with ease. I am delighted to now put faces to names and
to fully appreciate the kindness and compassion which all staff have shown. After a recent hospitalisation, Mum returned to her room, smiled and told me she was pleased to be home. Thank you to everyone for such heartwarming and excellent care.

My 95-year-old mother returned to Connell Court Care Home following a hospital stay for a heart problem. The care that she has received and the handling of her transition back to the home has been exemplary.
My mother was delighted to be going home and frequently tells us how kind all the staff are.
We as a family really appreciate the compassionate care she receives which enable her to maintain her dignity. The home is beautifully clean with appetising, nutritious food. The staff are friendly and professional without exception.

My mother has been a resident of Connell Court Care Home for two years, both pre and during Covid. It is a tribute to the professionalism and determination of the manager and her staff that high standards have been maintained throughout these difficult times. The staff are loving, committed and consistently
reliable. The medical, spiritual and social needs of the residents are unfailingly met. I cannot speak highly enough of this establishment.

Connell Court has been absolutely amazing during this pandemic and has kept all residents safe with the high-quality precautions that are in place. This has resulted in no cases or deaths from the virus.
Management has kept everyone informed. Communications during lockdown were excellent using a variety
of ways to keep in touch. These include zoom calls, window visits, garden visits (when possible), and the introduction of a weekly family newsletter. My Mum had her 100th birthday in May. Although we weren’t able to celebrate in quite the way we would have liked, management facilitated the celebrations we did have and the day was very successful. An appeal for birthday cards resulted in over 400, plus a variety of gifts from local businesses and schools. This was followed by afternoon tea and cakes and drinks for the residents. Heartfelt thanks to all Connell Court staff as nothing was too much trouble and they care very much for the residents.

In January this year, on recommendation, we brought a 94-year-old frail lady to you in a wheelchair for respite. We spoke to her every day by phone, and gradually she went from anxious and depressed to have a wonderful time and enjoyed walking around the garden, all the activities and made many friends.
We collected a much brighter more able lady this week. When things became too difficult to manage for her at home, she'll be back - if you'll have her.

My aunt asked to move to Connell Court as her eyesight is deteriorating, she had been unwell and felt she could not manage safely at home. Even though this has all happened through difficult times with Covid 19 restrictions, we have been able to keep in touch through phone calls and window visits. She
is so pleased that she can now have one visitor indoors and this has been managed safely. We're looking forward to when we can meet in the garden and have some day visits out and about. Staff have been so helpful and have answered many questions by phone and email, which is a great relief as I don't live locally and have no experience of the care home system. They have contacted me with concerns about her well-being, and that high level of communication between staff and family has been invaluable in terms of peace of mind and reassurance that she is safe and cared for.

My mother spent 9 weeks at Connell Court recovering from breaking ten ribs. She was at a very low ebb when she entered the home, but the respite care that she received turned her around and allowed her to return to her own flat, where she is now living happily and caring for herself. The staff at Connell
Court were excellent, and the happy social atmosphere and engagement boosted my mother's confidence and revived her sagging spirits. I cannot thank the staff enough for the care and attention that they gave to my mother and I would recommend Connell Court to anyone searching for a Care Home.

The care and consideration given to my mother especially in these difficult times has been so good. It has been difficult for everyone not least the staff to keep morale going and I know Mum like everyone else there is looking forward to more normal times especially when we can visit and have a hug.
At least she is very safe and well and as a family, we are extremely thankful for that.

My mother has resided at Connell Court from the beginning of 2020 following a spell in hospital and has been very happy during this time.
All the staff are very supportive of my mother's needs and nothing seems to be too much trouble. During the period of lockdown I have been using the Zoom video
conferencing facility which has been invaluable in maintaining contact with my mother. This is always very easy to set up through the staff, with no technical intervention required by my mother!
I am also very pleased to be able to meet my mother again using the carefully controlled meeting arrangements in the grounds of Connell Court.
I would thoroughly recommend Connell Court to anyone who is considering residential care.

If you are looking for a care home that goes 'above and beyond' to care for your loved ones then look no further! Connell Court has everything that you should be looking for. My Mother has been resident here for 18 months and she loves it. Nothing is too much trouble, and she is supported to be as independent
as she wants to be - which changes according to how she feels that day. During lockdown, relatives have been well supported with video calls, relative/staff meetings via zoom and regular Covid updates. We were reassured from the onset of the pandemic that there were procedures and protocols in place to protect our loved ones and indeed the chairman of MHA has been at the forefront in ensuring adequate PPE and regular testing is in place in all care homes. We could not be happier with Connell Court and despite my Mother being 90 years old, I hope she will enjoy many more years to come in this beautiful calm, safe and stimulating atmosphere.

Both my sister and I live out of the area so visiting our mother is fairly difficult under normal circumstances. When lockdown started we were very concerned about our mother feeling isolated as we had no idea when we would be able to travel north again. The staff at Connell Court were brilliant and
within the first few days were providing access to Zoom so we can 'meet' with Mum regularly and have a good chat! Throughout the long weeks, I have also received many photos of Mum taken by staff during various activities. I had to travel north on business recently and due to the relaxing of lockdown rules, I was able to make an appointment to see Mum - when I arrived at Connell Court I was given mask and gloves to wear and we had a lovely catch up sitting in the beautiful garden. I know that Mum is being well cared for and fully occupied - during this difficult time staff have shown tremendous empathy and support Mum whenever she is feeling sad and missing us.

Through COVID-19, it has been so reassuring that my mother has been taken care of so well. She has had lots of activities to keep her occupied and help the time pass, especially not being able to see family. It's so lovely that my sister can now visit my mother; it has made a difference.
