The staff are friendly and attentive to my mother's daily needs. She is settled here and seems content with the home and all the staff who do a brilliant job. She is well cared for and the care home is clean and tidy. My mother's room is on the shady side of the building so it is dark but she doesn't
spend much time in it and prefers to be in the lounge.
I would like to see more activities throughout the year as in December.

If you wish to discuss adding some additional lighting to your mum’s room, please let me know as we would gladly accommodate this. Our activities plan is created with our residents, and we try to ensure everybody’s wishes are respected but understand when people don’t wish to participate. Once again if you would like to chat, I am happy to do so at a mutual convenient time.

A very well-run care home with excellent staff.
I have no doubt that Mum is happy at Upton Grange and that she probably would not be still with us without the care she receives.
Here's hoping that she will make it be 100 years old, September 2024. Well done all at Upton Grange.

We had our auntie's 90th birthday at the home and we could not have wished for anything better. The home provided the food and cake and all the guests said how wonderful it all was. We would recommend the care home to anybody that was looking for the best care for their relatives.
Five-star.

My mother-in-law moved in earlier this year, and during this time, we have got to know all the staff. The levels of care and attention to detail given to making both my mother-in-law, my husband and I feel is just like a home-from-home experience. Recently, she was even taken out to visit Christmas
lights and brought back a lovely present, which she has in her room, and the staff took time to show me photos taken. They go that extra mile, and we couldn't be happier.

After a background in care homes I was pleased to find somewhere for a friend that met/surpassed my expectations. Within six weeks I have seen improvements in his health and well-being. I put this down to the good care given by the staff. There are always enough staff to talk. Rooms/facilities of high
standards, no unpleasant smells, food menu offers lots of choice.

The staff are always helpful and kind, tolerant and caring towards both my mother and myself. Her room is always kept clean and tidy.
The only snag I would say is the length of time it takes to open the front door as I believe there is a problem with the doorbell.

Ever since my mum moved into Upton Grange over two years ago, she has received absolute care, and I'd go as far as to say, love. We are confident in the staff's commitment to her. She is now in her 104th year and enjoying her life. She says she is lucky, and so are we.

With Mum having been totally independent before her heart attack, it was a big leap for her to leave Sussex to come to Merseyside, to be with us. Unfortunately, her health deteriorated and we had to look for a care home. Upton Grange has been superb. Mum is the happiest she's been for years. Thank you,
Upton Grange.

My relative has settled in very well. She gives positive feedback on all visits. She says that the food is good, her room is cleaned regularly (even the door frames) and that the staff are wonderful. She is delighted with the laundry service. Her brother and myself got a pleasant vibe from the surroundings
when we first visited and thought that it appeared clean and bright and that the staff were very welcoming. So far we do not have any regrets at choosing Upton Grange to take care of our relative.

Moving to a care home is never a simple decision for the individual or the family. Upton Grange offers and delivers a kind, comforting environment. Staff show respect and care for residents and work hard to make their experiences happy and memorable. Today the dining room is decorated to celebrate the
coronation. So much effort is on display to ensure all residents have a wonderful day. This type of effort is consistent. The environment is clean and well-maintained. Food is of a great quality and residents social, physical and medical needs are well provided for.

Mum has been a resident since February 2022. Her care has been excellent. She is treated with courtesy and kindness. Rooms are comfortable and well maintained. Catering is very good and Mum enjoys a wide variety of home-cooked foods. Staff are kind and try to accommodate everything that a resident might
want or need. When an issue might arise, staff and management respond very positively to feedback.

After several falls and a worrying time in hospital, Mum recently moved into Upton Grange. She specifically wanted to live here since a respite stay last year.
The manager, administrator and all the care staff are wonderful in their care of Mum and nothing is too much trouble when it comes to her
safety and well-being.
She has a lovely room and excellent facilities and she loves it here.
Thank you to everyone at Upton Grange.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.859)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.859) out of 10 for Upton Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 40 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.859 for Upton Grange is calculated as follows: ( (416 Excellents x 5) + (53 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 475 Ratings = 4.859
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Upton Grange is based on 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4, which has been reached with 40 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
