When I visit I find my sister seems very comfortable in her surroundings, the staff are friendly and efficient. Her room is kept clean and tidy. Personal hygiene and appearance are excellent.

The social activity aspect is very good and lively.

My mother has resided at Upton Grange for just over 4 years. In the past couple of years, there have been a number of challenges to overcome, including change of ownership, coupled with numerous staff and management changes. Fortunately, more recently things seem a lot more settled and this enables the staff to focus more on providing a very good level of care, which is pleasing. The home would now certainly benefit from a makeover in the lounge and other public areas. The activity programme is improving. Overall the more established senior staff do an excellent job and portray a caring approach.

Since my aunt became a resident her health and well-being have improved tenfold. She has changed from being unkept, anti-social, lonely and giving up the will to live. She hadn't left her flat for 7 years and three storeys up, we couldn't do anything to help her. Her mental capacity was declining and the pressure on my husband and me was extreme! We can now take her out and it has changed her completely. She is so happy and loves coming out with us we would never consider moving her. The staff are tremendous, efficient and make us feel like a weight has been taken off our shoulders. Top marks to them.

My wife and I found Upton Grange to be a blessing we can go to see my wife's aunt at any time and are always made welcome by all the staff. There is nothing to hide. Upton Grange is run to a very high standard the staff are very capable and keep us updated. The change in my wife's aunt is fantastic. She is extremely happy and well cared for. Her heart attack at Christmas 2017 was a terrible shock to us we were forced to find a home for her and Upton Grange changed our lives! Without the care and dedication of the staff, our aunt would not be here today and we have our lives back.

Upton Grange is a modern facility, specifically purpose-built for the task. It is clean, with modern facilities. The staff are mainly well trained and caring. There is a wide range of activities provided. On the negative side, the food is pre-prepared and not fresh. Staff need to be more proactive in encouraging residents to take part in activities.

This is a caring, friendly and supportive home. Residents are treated with dignity and staff spend time talking to them, showing a real interest in what they have to say. The staff regularly interact with the residents, and from their conversations with them, develop a good understanding of their individual needs. Staff are cheerful and inclusive and encourage residents to get involved in a wide variety of activities. The home is well-furnished and all areas maintain a high level of cleanliness and hygiene. Staff also find the time to talk to visitors and relatives in order to make them feel very welcome.

There seems to be a problem at this care home.
I don't know whether it is poor staff morale, insufficient staffing levels, or lack of management. In my opinion, it does not now warrant the earlier review scores I saw before moving my parent in.
On arrival at the care home, I sat with the manager and went through my parent's needs in detail to complete a Care Plan. The manager and I then sat with my parent, discussed and "agreed" my parent's needs and the Care Plan with my parent. That Care Plan has been thoroughly ignored.
I have asked for the name of my parent's assigned Key care worker twice. There is no Key care Worker four weeks after arrival.
I have asked for an explanation of why the agreed Care Plan was not being followed, to be told it was an oversight and would be rectified immediately. It hasn't been; nothing has changed.

I am concerned about the lack of care being delivered to residents and would not recommend this place, or chose it again in hindsight.

My review on Upton Grange has been excellent service. The staff are very professional but also friendly. I like to have my hair and nails done - very reasonably priced, very nice ladies. Excellent hair set and excellent nails. Upton Grange is excellent with entertainment and it should be nice at Christmas. I will be here to enjoy all the festivities.

There has been a lowering of standard since the change of management, a number of good quality staff have left to work elsewhere leaving existing staff (who are excellent) under great pressure trying to keep up a good standard of care with a shortage of staff. I am told at the time of writing this review that they are five people short of staff. Lately, there have been a number of items missing from my aunt's room: clothes, toiletries and confectionary on a regular basis.

My mother-in-law has been in Upton Grange since May 2018. She is partially deaf and blind and 98 years old. But has settled in reasonably OK. Everywhere is clean and bright and the staff are very good.
The only negative comment is that my mother-in-law says there are not many daily activities. I have seen that daily activities are shown on the notice board but my mother-in-law says that they often do not happen.

Still waiting for the first invoice for payment after 3 months.

I stayed at Upton Grange for 5 nights to allow my husband to visit our son. This was my first experience in a residential home and overall it was a pleasant one.
I had a very nice ensuite room and the staff were wonderful, very attentive and would do anything for you.
The only downside was the food, however, this was only for the first three days and then a new chef arrived and the change was dramatic, lovely, homemade dishes appeared.
The facilities were very good and there was a summer fair held on the Saturday in the garden.

All in all a satisfactory experience and I would return again to allow my husband a break in the future.

We had to put my dad in here at short notice. The staff at Upton Grange were a great help in achieving this. They made dad feel very welcome and even came to his home beforehand and told him all about Upton Grange.

Dad has dementia and the way he is treated makes him feel calm and secure so each time we visit, he is happy and content.

Delighted to obtain a place for my mother on discharge from the hospital. Excellent communication through Anchor and Upton Grange's caring, warm professional administrator. Staff are genuine and treat residents with great dignity and support. A home from home for my mother who resisted residential care until the inevitable loss of independence as Alzheimer's progressed. Thoroughly recommend Upton Grange to any potential resident or their family.

I have visited many care homes on the Wirral, but Upton Grange is outstanding.
My father had the most professional caring key worker who took care of his every need, medically and emotionally. I would highly recommend this care home to anyone. The atmosphere is very happy and the food is to a high standard.

Well done Upton Grange you offer a wonderful service.

Staff are very caring and professional in the way they handle my mum. She is very well looked after, and although she does not mix with the other residents, which is her choice, the staff will pop into her room at regular intervals to check that she is ok and does not need anything. There is also a call button which will bring a staff member in to see to her, when she needs it.
The home feels like a hotel when you go at any time, bright , welcoming & fresh smelling. The staff go out of their way to help both myself and my mum, and keep me informed of anything they feel I need to know.

My mum settled into the home very quickly, and now she feels that the staff are all her friends.

Upton Grange is a very well run home, my dad went in there Nov last year and the difference it's made to his life, the staff treat him with dignity, kindness. The entertainment they put on is excellent. It was very difficult for us to find a nursing home for dad and I have to say that made the transition more bearable for us all.

My aunt has been a resident in Upton Grange for the last year. We initially looked at 16 care homes and the grange was by far the best. Among the categories detailed below the main factor in our choice was the quality of the management and the staff's interaction with their residents. This creates what we can only describe as a "Happy" atmosphere the ongoing and regular training of staff can only contribute to this overall atmosphere.

After three years at Upton Grange, my aunt is settled but would still like to live in her "own place", which of course is not possible. The staff are all very friendly, helpful and caring and she is looked after very well. She is not very receptive to organised activities or outings, and because of her vascular dementia is not able to contribute to or be interested in residents meetings. As her room is on the first floor, she is unable to get into the garden unaided. If I am taking her out to lunch, I always let Upton Grange know in advance, but communication does not always get through to the staff on duty and she can sometimes be at or on her way to the dining table. The move to 5pm dinner time has been a help for visiting or going out in the afternoons.
