My aunt always looks well dressed, well-fed and happy with staff. Feel confident in their care although I live quite far away. Many thanks.

A wonderful mix of staff, who are all professional, dedicated and truly eclectic. This is the strongest part of the home. Unfortunately, the visiting arrangements, which have been draconian, are still quite restricted and you need to take this into account when deciding.

We found all the staff to be extremely welcoming and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. The setting is clean, tidy and has a very homely feel. Mum's move into Barchester Crabwall Hall was managed sensitively, with care and safely: both towards Mum and us, the family, at what is a very difficult and
emotional time. The staff have been supportive, attentive and also kept us informed. Attention to detail and risk associated with Covid have been well managed. A very professional, caring team. I look forward to Covid restrictions lifting so that Mum can enjoy more activities, visits and "normal" times, including trips and visits.

After a stay in hospital, my daughter was helping me at my home. After five weeks she needed to return home to family. She asked me which care home I would like to go to and Crabwall Hall was my immediate choice as I had visited a friend many times in the home. I have not been disappointed, it has been
even better. A lovely, friendly place with helpful staff.

Visiting Mum yesterday was great. Due to lockdown, I have not seen her for months. We kept a social distance of 3m but unfortunately, the table with the visit next to us was too close, although it was 3m away. The lady was shouting and over talking us, making it very difficult to hear Mum. If they were
further apart it would be fantastic.

My father would undoubtedly not be alive today if it wasn't for Crabwall Hall. He has sad, neglected and in a state when he came here last October. He is now happy, comfortable, cared for and loves living here - couldn't ask for more. The staff here and amazing, kind, caring and patient - just the best.

We looked at a number of care homes for my mother and the thing that appealed to us straight away with Crabwall was the friendliness of the staff. There is always a nice busy atmosphere and I have never had a poor experience with anyone. If you ask for something to be done it gets done. It' a really
homely atmosphere and I would recommend it to anyone.

I was very well looked after and only have one criticism which was minor. I think that it would be better if the heavy duvet which I appreciate was used for appearance, could be replaced at some time with a lightweight cover which would be equally attractive but more practical.

Came here for respite care and, as I am on my own and was recovering from a broken hip, decided to stay. Never thought I would want to be in a home but have been pleasantly surprised. It is not perfect but everyone is kind and thoughtful. The building is very nice and lovely gardens. I think it would
be difficult to find a better place.

Crabwall was home to my mother-in-law for 4 1/2 years until her recent death. She was safe and happy here. Staff looked after her with care, humour and dignity. Even as her health deteriorated she was encouraged to be involved in daily life within the home. Whenever we visited we were made to feel very
welcome. Any queries we had were dealt with quickly, effectively and sympathetically. Throughout the last days of her life, she was made to feel cherished. She was monitored so carefully that we knew she was receiving the best possible care.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.791)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.791) out of 10 for Barchester Crabwall Hall Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.791 for Barchester Crabwall Hall Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (192 Excellents x 5) + (37 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 235 Ratings = 4.791
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barchester Crabwall Hall Care Home is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 38 registered maximum number of service users is 7.6, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Welcome to Crabwall Hall Care Home. My name is Nicole, and I am the General Manager here.

I have been working within the care sector since 2007, starting my career as a Carer in Guernsey, where I grew up. Through my own personal experiences at an early age, I developed a strong passion for delivering heartfelt, meaningful care, and this passion has continued throughout my life.

Hi, I'm Jacqui, the Activities Co-ordinator here at Crabwall Hall, and I joined the team in 2023.

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home, and we work together to give residents the best possible experience.

As a team, we are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. I ensure the team knows each resident's preferences, so that together we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love.

I love my job - every single day is different and has variety, and there's always something going on at Crabwall Hall.

Hello, I'm Karen, and I am a member of the Activities Team at Crabwall Hall.

I have been a member of the team since 2012. We adopt a whole home approach at Crabwall, so I also help out in the kitchen and care when needed too - we all work together.

I want our Residents to be happy and content. I bring ideas and creativity to activities we offer and always chat to Residents about what they want to do. It is important that Residents feel listened to and have choices.

Pop along to the home and see what we get up to - we always welcome visitors to join in with our activities and events.

Hi, I'm Kath, Head Housekeeper at Crabwall Hall.

I have been at the home since 2019, joining as a Cleaner, before trying my hand as a Carer, which I loved. However, when the opportunity came for the Head Housekeeping role, I knew that's where my strengths were.

It's important to me that Residents live in a clean and tidy home, as it supports their wellbeing. I want the home to feel welcoming for families and visitors, and for Residents to feel proud of where they live.

Please come and see us at Crabwall, visit our Residents and enjoy our home with us.

Hi, we are members of the housekeeping team and enjoy working at Crabwall. The residents feel like part of our extended family. We take great pride in making sure their home and rooms are spotlessly clean. Taking pride in their home is important for the residents, and as a team, we feel passionate about this too.

The lovely part of the role is that we get to know each resident and the ways we can make them happy by the little touches that can lighten their da,y including having a chat as we work.
