Nestled in the rural village of Clotton in Cheshire, Iddenshall Hall is a 24-hour residential home that provides care for elderly people.

The Memory Lane Community, Beeston View, also offers residential and nursing care for those living with dementia. Whether long-term placement or a short spell of respite, the team at Iddenshall can provide appropriate levels of support.

Remaining active is important to us all and this attitude prevails at Iddenshall Hall. The team of activities coordinators design a regular programme of events to meet the needs, hobbies and interests of individual residents.

The home is a carefully adapted farmhouse dating back to the 16th century and, whilst oozing charm, elegance and character, has a distinctly homely feel.

Over the last few days, my mum has been receiving end of life care. I cannot praise the staff here enough. She has had such love and care and this has been extended to us, her family, at this difficult time.

My father who suffers from Parkinson's disease and Lewy-body dementia spent three weeks of respite care at Beeston View. My mother, myself and all the family were very impressed with the care he received. The staff were excellent as were the facilities.

My mother moved to Barchester Iddenshall Hall and Beeston View Dementia Unit a few months ago suffering from dementia and a severe bed sore. The treatment at Barchester Iddenshall Hall and Beeston View Dementia Unit ensured the sore cleared up and she no longer suffered from continuous water infections.
This, coupled with the patient and friendly care provided meant her last few months were not only less painful but were also less muddled and confused. she was more relaxed and far less stressed than she had been previously been.

The admission process was dealt with in a very professional manner and the support both for my mother and for us was excellent. The team are first class and show a great level of empathy with their residents as well as a clear commitment to providing a quality service in a very attractive location.
They realise that making the choice to move a close relative from home based care to a home is less than easy and took the time to explain all aspects and show how they looked after their residents.

Beeston View is the dementia unit associated with Iddenshall Hall. While my father was a resident, the manager and her team provided care of the highest order. More than that, they did so in the happiest possible environment. Every member of staff I dealt with showed genuine care and even affection
for my father, while checking regularly that I was content with the approach.
Every time I visited Beeston View I felt like a VIP guest - despite the difficult circumstances of dementia, it was a pleasure to visit. The bedrooms and the public areas are decorated, maintained and cleaned to a very high standard. I have visited a number of care homes over the years and Beeston View is the best, by a country mile. Senior managers at Barchester should be proud of the work the team at Beeston View are doing - I cannot commend them highly enough.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.371)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.371) out of 10 for Barchester Iddenshall Hall and Beeston View Memory Lane Community is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.571 for Barchester Iddenshall Hall and Beeston View Memory Lane Community is calculated as follows: ( (81 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 105 Ratings = 4.571
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barchester Iddenshall Hall and Beeston View Memory Lane Community is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 39 registered maximum number of service users is 7.8, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
