Having also recently opened a state-of-the-art Specialist Dementia Care Community (SDCC), Meadow Bank offers an enhanced service which focuses on the welfare and wellbeing of people who are emotionally distressed by their dementia and therefore require specialist care and support.

Recently, the welcoming care home benefitted from a significant refurbishment programme, which created modernised living environments, including a cinema (in SDCC community), which were designed to enhance the quality of life for all residents.

When needing advice and information, management has managed to help in a way I understand. Also, all the staff are incredibly welcoming to visitors.
It is lovely to see the smiles and kindness shown to the residents in their daily lives.

My sister transferred from another home and the staff were very supportive from day 1. She was initially agitated, but after a few days settled down. On all my visits staff have been forthcoming to me on any incidents or general behaviour. Also always lots of staff on duty and nothing seems to be too
much trouble. I have observed them interacting with other residents and always upbeat, friendly and professional. Overall in sometimes difficult circumstance, a happy, pleasant atmosphere.

Dad unfortunately didn't have the best start to living in care establishments and as a family, we were uncertain of the move to Sabrina unit at Meadowbank. How our thoughts have changed, Dad has totally settled into life in Sabrina aided by a particular staff member and all the staff there. The care
they show Dad is 5* and handle his changing needs with dignity and respect, and are so welcoming to us as a family when we visit Dad. The unit has a homely feel to it, and I'm so glad we didn't let our past experience with other care units influence us to let Dad go. Thank you is a small part of how grateful I am for knowing Dad's looked after.

My dad is bedbound and is reliant on staff to get him up. We love it when they do this as it must be lonely in his room. Staff who go into his room are always cheerful. Dad loves to joke so it is great that they tease him and have a laugh with him. Dad also has a very sweet tooth. Staff pop into his
room regularly to ensure that he gets regular supplies of his favourite sweets and cakes.

The care and staff in the home are very good. The buildings and grounds could do with attention. Painting outside and gardens need taking care of. Dad seems happy in Meadow Bank. All the staff are good with him and even enjoy his singing.

Dad is well looked after. The staff are friendly whilst professional and care for the residents. Activities are varied and I know Dad enjoys any art or craft activities when these are available. My only concerns are that sometimes information is not passed on to family ie twice we were only informed
of appointments Dad had on the day, when letters were held for some time, and items have gone missing (glasses, teeth, others).

Mum has been here a year now and I feel she is cared for and has settled in well. Staff are approachable and know how to interact with Mum and what she likes. The home is clean and Mum seems to enjoy the food. Thank you for taking care of Mum!

Mum came to Meadow Bank 13 months ago. I cannot praise the staff enough for their care. They're on the ball with everything from meals and how much Mum eats, she loses weight they want to know why. Medication is given at the same time every day. Her room and clothes are always clean and tidy. I recommend
Meadow Bank to all my friends.

Worst care home ever. My dad went into this care home because of his dementia and wasn't eating or drinking also falling at home. It started ok but on his first night there, he started shouting out (normal for people with dementia). They rang the following day saying they wanted my dad out and back
home. He couldn't go back home because the home wasn't safe. The manager at the care home said he is quite capable of making his own decision but the dementia team and district nurses said he was not. There were team meetings for what is next for my dad, the dementia team spoke to the manager of the care home and they still said that he was quite capable of making his own decisions, also the manager said to us and the dementia team that my dad did not have dementia. He didn't get the proper care he needed. I think all they care about is the residents that could afford to stay there and not really bothered about the residents that social services paid for. He is out and in a better care home.
