My mother has been in this home for over three years now as she couldn't look after herself and was becoming immobile. After many months of not wanting to be in any form of care she is comfortable there and the staff are great at moving her around.

There are some amazing staff doing some difficult work in the home, but are always polite, and happy. I am still unclear as to the overall picture of my brother's scenario - who is responsible for which elements of my brother's being?

I know his room depresses him. A simple cell with a TV. Rules mean a lack of personal items and mementoes which could help his recuperation.I am grateful that he has a roof over his head and is fed and looked after by a group of kind staff. His mental health and physical recovery continue to be a sadness to his family. If he was homed nearer to us perhaps we would have better communication and input to his quality of life, but at the moment due to uncertainty of the trail of decisions and input to his life, this is difficult. The home is but one piece of the puzzle.

Thank you so much for the review, we appreciate all reviews. We are so very happy you praise the staff and give the cleanliness 5 stars as these two things can be the hardest two factors to get right in a care home. We understand your brother has some issues and this can be really upsetting to see...

I submitted feedback in December 2023 about the fantastic care my mum received whilst in the Priory, sadly my mum passed away in January and I meant to leave a review shortly after but never got round to it. I hope my previous review and this one will help if you are considering placing a relative in their care. The care home itself is outstanding but it's the staff that really make the place work! Even in Mum's last few days the care given was so warm, caring and all staff continued to bring a smile to her face. Whatever business you are in it's the people that make the difference and they really do here! I do of course miss my mum but I also miss visiting the home and the company of those who looked after her. Such wonderful caring people and a pleasure to be around. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Having looked after Mum before her going into care I know how hard the work can be. The care Mum gets is second to none, her dementia can make her difficult at times, but the carers take this all in their stride and are always respectful and good-natured with her, and nothing is too much trouble.
From the moment you walk into the home, you are made to feel welcomed by all the staff and I am given information about Mum and her wellbeing. When she recently had a long-standing chest infection, I was kept informed about how she was doing and what treatment she was being given.

Thank you to all the staff, carers, receptionists, and cleaners (who usually let me out) for all the work you do, I feel happy knowing she is in good hands.

My stepfather was moved to Priory Residential Care on the 9th February 2024, after a difficult week in the hospital. I was concerned the first day I visited, which was also his first day because I’d asked for a room with a toilet, which wasn't possible. After the first few days, my concerns about a toilet in my stepfather’s room paled into insignificance, when I saw how wonderful the staff were concerning my stepfather’s needs. As the last few weeks have progressed, I can’t speak highly enough of the care home, which is spotless, lots of activities, the staff are very caring and open, putting his needs first and foremost. So very pleased he is in a home with such fabulous staff, who really do care!

Mum seems content and settled on the whole and lately, appears to have improved as a result of her care. The home has reviewed and adapted the care in an effort to meet Mum's needs and has responded to any concerns raised by the family. Occasionally, Mum has been unsettled as a result of the policy of having visits in residents' rooms, not wanting to be moved from the lounge.

Reply from Laura Bismor, Manager at Priory Care Residential Home

Many thanks for your time, we appreciate your views and will pass these on. With reference to the visit on the Dementia floor, we have taken comments from visitors about dignity and privacy for residents and the view was the residents' lounge should be their lounge to enjoy and be comfortable without having to share with other residents' visitors.

Mum was transferred from hospital to the care home with complex issues, including a broken hip, a haematoma on the leg (not healed), a catheter, oedema in arm, poor eating, erratic blood sugar levels etc. and was on patches to relieve pain. Although an assessment of the management of Mum's needs was undertaken, the staff were dealing with Mum's problems on a daily basis very well, referring to the GP as necessary and reporting back to the family at all times. Mum felt happy that she was comfortable and well looked after in a pleasant room overlooking the garden and visited regularly by the family. The staff were kind and caring in their treatment of Mum and were always helpful in keeping the family updated. Mum passed away after eight-week stay.

The care my dad is getting is very good and we know he is being well looked after. It's a bit frustrating in the length of time it has taken to carry out a blood test and receive results which will result in a medication check, other things have been put in place generally. Very friendly and caring staff.

Reply from Laura Bismor, Manager at Priory Care Residential Home

Many thanks for your review. We appreciate the time taken to complete this. On the blood tests, unfortunately, this is district nursing shortages and the strikes haven't helped lately. We are thankful you are happy with everything else.

I could not have choosen a better home for my mum to be in. Excellent care by every member of staff who work in the home. She is treat with dignity, care and respect. All members of staff are friendly, professional and approacable.

The home is not very big, which I feel gives it a more homely feel which leads to everyone being treat as an individual.

The care home is superb, and the staff are absolutely outstanding; they always go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that the residents are cared for, comfortable and happy and to welcome and update visitors. The food is excellent, and everywhere is spotlessly clean. There are regular, fun activities, and my relative really enjoys herself - it feels more like a large family than a nursing home. We cannot fault the care home in any way and would like to thank all of the staff for all of their amazing care and support.

My husband has been in the Palliative Care Unit at Priory Care Home since early August 2022. From my first contact with them, I have been most pleased with all aspects of his care. The staff are pleasant, understanding of his needs and always very friendly. His room has a view of the garden area. It is clean, light and airy. Most importantly, he has settled well and is comfortable. I feel very relieved to have found such a caring environment for him, and it is a relief for all the family.

I found the care home better than I expected. the staff were always on hand to help with everything I needed. I found them upbeat and always laughing even with themselves as well as us. I was surprised to have a choice of menu at all the meals and we were offered more if we wanted it.

Snacks and fruit were offered regularly my stay was very comfortable and I felt safe.
