When visiting the home it really does feel like home for the residents. Warm, friendly and inviting. All the staff are amazing, it is evident the residents are their main concern. All the residents are happy, comfortable and content. When a resident started to get upset the staff comforted her instantly. The interaction between all staff including care, management team, kitchen, laundry and maintenance with the residents is outstanding. Well done to you all and thank you.

Despite staff changes and shortages, we still manage to retain the family atmosphere of this home. We are lucky in having an excellent activity timetable and an outstanding events organiser. We have a service twice a week and attend if we wish. I feel very much at home here.

My 96-year-old father had only been a resident at Willersley House for 6 months when he succumbed to the illness that sadly led to his death. I cannot praise the staff of the home highly enough for the dedicated and professional care he was given, and at a human level, the loving-kindness he was shown. Knowing that end of life care was required, we were privileged to be able to spare dad the trauma and upheaval of hospital admission, entrusting him instead to the exceptional care of the staff at the home. He was cared for throughout his illness (and indeed, has been ever since his admission) with dignity, respect, sensitivity and dedication. Every single member of staff plays such a vital role in the wonderful team at Willersley, and I'm so happy he could join this lovely community in his final months. I was so grateful to be allowed the compassionate end of life visiting, and I was so touched by how well I was looked after too! Thank you so much, from the whole family.

Reply from Laura Barnsley, Home Manager at Willersley House

Throughout the unexpectedly short time your dad was with us at Willersley, I can honestly say he was a true gentleman. Several of the residents have commented on how much they miss him already. Mum has lived at Willersley for almost four years now, and she thinks of it as “home”, which it is – a warm, friendly, caring place.
I have peace of mind knowing that the quality of care and support she receives is second to none. Staff are highly skilled and competent – all have a genuine interest in mum’s changing needs and complete well-being.
The home is immaculate, comfortable, spacious and well maintained, inside and outside.
It is an extremely pleasant place to visit, and everyone goes out of their way to make visitors feel welcome – nothing is too much trouble.
The team have risen admirably to the extra challenges and added pressures caused by the pandemic, and we have all been kept so well informed of the ever-changing circumstances.

All the staff are passionate about providing the very best care they can for the residents, showing compassion, kindness, respect and dignity. They are brilliant and deserve the highest praise.

My mum lived at Willersley House for 5 years and I can honestly say that every member of the team, without exception, are cheerful, dedicated, hard-working and a credit to their profession. They treat all residents and their relatives with compassion and respect. It has been hugely comforting during the pandemic to know that my mum was so well looked after, right up to the end, as she sadly passed away in September. The home itself is clean and bright, activities are varied and numerous, and the food is home-cooked and nutritious. Willersley should be held up as a shining example of how we would all like to be looked after in later life. If I could give a higher accolade than absolutely outstanding I would.

Reply from Kathy, Chaplain at Willersley House

Thank you for your kind review. We are all missing your mum. She was kind, gentle and very quiet. She was a joy to care for and she viewed everything so positively, she never complained or moaned about anything. She took everything in her stride and appreciated the opportunities to continue her faith journey while with us. We will remember her in our prayers.

The first moment I ever experienced this home it was by far the best feeling I had felt during all the visits to various homes, trying to find the right one for my mam, and believe me, we had visited so many.

The leadership and all the team are outstanding. Nothing is too much for them and they are always on hand to answer any queries or concerns. I feel like we are treated on an individual basis so it's not a one size fits all experience. The team are so personal in their care and at all times I know that my mam is treated with dignity and respect. The team are consistent in their approach providing the highest quality of care at all times. Throughout probably the hardest times of their careers during Covid, they have been amazing. I have been kept up to date at all times in relation to how my mam is doing and don't feel isolated from her at all. I could not recommend this home more highly! Thank you to all the team! You're awesome!!!

My father has been at Willersley for a year now. Since his arrival, he (and I for that matter) have been treated like family. The staff take great care to ensure the residents are involved in the day to day activities and in these difficult times with covid always manage a smile and are pleased to help with any queries.

The food is of a very high standard and the home is always kept very clean and warm. More like a hotel to be honest. I would recommend this care home without hesitation.

My mother has been a resident at Willersley for over three years. Before this, she was in sheltered accommodation, but as her health deteriorated she needed full-time care. After a brief stay in another care home, we were very fortunate to get my mother a room at Willersley. My mother has been cared for and accepted as part of a new 'family'. The staff are attentive, treat the residents with dignity and nothing is too much trouble. Willersley is an excellent care home.

Willersley House and its staff have continued to show an excellent standard of care and understanding of my father, who has resided there now for over two and a half years. They have been super in supporting his changing needs and developing ways to encourage him to participate and maintain some independence as his abilities and memory have declined, positively encouraging him and supporting him through some difficult times recently. They have also been attentive and helpful in supporting myself and family as his needs changes and through periods of ill health and hospital stays. The staff are always supportive and ready to help both my father and myself, showing an awareness of the challenges being faced. I feel confident in them and secure in the knowledge that when my father is in their care he is safe and looked after, should anything change in his care or needs they are quick to let me know and talk things through.

For the 20 years that I have been at Willersley House, your Mum has been such a huge support to the home, firstly as a volunteer and latterly as a resident of the home. We all miss her and am so thankful that she was able to spend her final days with us here at Willersley. We too will look back and remember your mum with great fondness.

The Summer Party was held at Willersley House yesterday and I wanted to express my appreciation for all the staff who make the Home such a special place. The party was to celebrate the official opening of the new dining/patio area and to give thanks to everyone who has contributed their time, money and effort into making this area an integral and pleasing part of the Home. A sumptuous cream-tea was served and it was lovely to see everyone enjoying it, young and old, for the dining room was packed with residents and relatives. We were entertained by a professional singer and pianist duo as well as two young dancers. There was also the results of a photography competition, a raffle and delicious cakes to take home. All the staff worked so hard to make the afternoon enjoyable for everyone, and there was a real family feel. What stood out for me was that in the midst of all the celebration, staff were providing outstanding care and support, for residents and relatives alike.
