Entry to Willersley House is always met by a friendly, helpful person. I am always asked to take refreshments with my friend and to join in with any activity that is being held. The home is scrupulously clean, especially the weeks my friend is taken out on visits to places of interest, shopping and
social events. Birthday are always celebrated and of course, a decorated cake. Various volunteers are to hand to listen and to talk to residents and to entertain with quizzes and music. One volunteer runs a weekly shop, which my friend much appreciates, enabling her to have some independence and still keep in touch with currency. All in all, Willersley House deserves their "outstanding" award.
Reply from Laura Barnsley, Home Manager at Willersley HouseThank you; we are incredibly grateful to have such wonderful volunteers who work with us most days at Willersley House, so I am thrilled that you took the time to acknowledge the contribution that they make to our home. The home and our residents are very lucky to have them.

To the end, my father was cared for as I would hope to be cared for if I end my time being a resident of a home. I use the term home as that's what it was, not only to my dad but to me, as the staff without exception, were more like family than carers. I feel there should be a level above outstanding
as the support from the home has been exceptional, the whole experience from start to finish has been eased, from assessing my dad, giving him a happy life, to representatives attending his funeral.
I would like to thank all the staff for his care, but also for their support of the family during this very difficult time, I was especially moved by the very visible show of emotion from the staff during, and after, my Dad's last few days.
Whilst the primary focus was on my dad, I always felt that the family were also important, especially at the end when their support was very much appreciated. I not only miss my dad but the friendly people I met at Willersley.
Reply from Laura Barnsley, Home Manager at Willersley HouseThank you for taking the time to review and appreciate our staff team. I know, as the Home Manager, I am very blessed to have such a fabulous bunch of staff, their effort, dedication and hard work is extremely valuable to the success of Willersley House and I could not be more proud of them as when I see a review like this.

My mother settled very quickly at Willersley House, we were able to put a lot of her pictures and photos on the wall (unlike a previous home). She is encouraged to join in all the various activities and enjoys outings to the local cinema, gardens. The food is excellent and mum has put on weight over
the first few months at being at Willersley and she is very happy.
Reply from Laura Barnsley, Home Manager at Willersley HouseWhat a positive review. Our Head Chef is thrilled to hear that you find the food excellent, the team work so hard, sourcing fresh ingredients and constantly reviewing the Home's menus with the residents, so to have their efforts appreciated and your Mum is putting on weight is fantastic news.

I already know gran is very happy here but was able to see first hand. I live in Australia and the carers are so helpful with my situation in facilitating skypes for me to see gran. This was my first visit in person and it was such a lovely welcoming happy place to be. Light and bright and clean. I
am very happy this is my gran's home.
Reply from Laura Barnsley, Home Manager at Willersley HouseThank you for your kind review. It’s lovely that you’ve had a chance to make it over here and I know your Gran is delighted. We absolutely love her! She makes me smile daily and her chuckle can often be heard around the Home. Your Gran is a delight and very much valued as a member of our Home.

Every single member of staff has been outstanding. The kindness they have shown has been exemplary. Our father has had a wonderful experience (though short) and has been able to live out his last days being shown kindness and respect. I cannot praise the staff enough. They have treated him with dignity,
which means so much to us. Everything about Willersley House is incredible and we thank the staff from the bottom of our hearts.
Reply from Laura Barnsley, Home Manager at Willersley HouseYour Father in Law was a genuinely lovely man who we enjoyed caring for during his short stay with us. He enjoyed his outings and your regular visits always brightened his day. Your support regarding his care during this time was greatly appreciated and we’re pleased we were able to make his time with us more comfortable.

The care received is excellent. The staff are very pleasant and obliging. The residents have a wide range of activities in the care home and have excursions to the cinema, places of interest, etc.
My husband and I offer our services for outside visits and love helping wherever we can.
The staff are
so pleasant and welcoming and it is good to be able to assist.

It’s no wonder this home did so well in its inspection, it is first class. My aunt is so content and settled. She is busy and occupied every day. The staff work hard to give the residents a really good quality of life and for that, I am truly thankful. The home is always spotlessly clean and every staff
member is cheerful, they all seem to go out of their way to make us all very welcome.
Reply from Laura Barnsley, Home Manager at Willersley HouseThank you for your review, it's so nice to see your Aunt so happy following all her initial problems. We are all so pleased that she has settled into the home and regained a real zest for life. She has a better social life than we do!

My mother in law has been extremely well cared for at Willersley House for well over a year now and has a really good quality of life. She is very well liked by the staff and has really started to come out of her shell and enjoy all the fun activities on offer. Very recently she has been on day trips
out to local parks and coffee shops with other residents. They have many photographs in well-organised files showing the family what a great time she is having. I cannot thank them all enough for all the great work that they are doing.

My granny has come on in leaps and bounds since being in Willersley House. She was pretty difficult to look after when she first arrived however with the help of the team, she now enjoys day trips to local parks and coffee shops, and joins in the activities with the other residents which would've seemed
impossible when she first arrived. She has a great quality of life at Willersley House and she's always making everyone laugh with her strong personality and sense of humour, which must mean she's having a good time. Thank you for looking after her so well.

My nana has been in Willersley House for nearly 3 months. She came directly from hospital following a serious illness and was very poorly. Within a few weeks, the staff at WH had worked their magic. She started putting on weight, her pressure sores were disappearing, she was clean, comfortable and so
very well cared for. 3 months down the line she looks amazing. The staff here are just brilliant I can't praise them enough. To be able to visit my nana (this weekend I've even bought her great grandchildren up) and see her relaxed and happy after so many years of struggling at home is a life changer. She can enjoy family visits without any stress. All the staff at WH should be commended for the time, effort and care they show to the residents (the carers, the cleaners, the chef and the catering team, the chaplain, the social coordinator, the therapists, office staff, managers, the hairdresser....the list goes on). Thank you all for taking such good care of my nana, she is very precious to us.
Reply from Laura Barnsley, Home Manager at Willersley HouseThank you, Dianne, our staff are thrilled with this review. A few kind words can really make our staff's day and to know that they have made a difference to your nana's life is amazing. I have been absolutely delighted with the care my mum has received at Willersley House. It was a massive move giving up her home and independence, but I need not have worried. The staff are so kind and considerate and have made my mum feel at home from the first time she entered the front door.
She
enjoys the food, the daily activities, the twice weekly services, and the time spent on her own in a lovely ground floor room, overlooking the garden.
I enjoy visiting her there and know that she is in safe hands.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.411)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.411) out of 10 for Willersley House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.511 for Willersley House is calculated as follows: ( (110 Excellents x 5) + (69 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 190 Ratings = 4.511
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Willersley House is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
