Willersley House is a lovely place to live. My mum has been there a month now and has settled in so well. She feels very much at home in her room, surrounded by furniture she was able to take with her. She looks forward to the meals and is full of praise for her carers, who treat her with respect, kindness
and warmth. Visitors are always welcome and never made to feel they're getting in the way. There are lots of daily activities on offer for residents to join in with if they wish, and there's always someone around with time for a chat - no one need feel lonely there! The rooms are bright and clean, and the atmosphere generally is that of a big happy family. I am so pleased we found Willersley.

Mum was in Willersley House for two years and then Covid hit. She really enjoyed the home, especially the activities and going out. With Covid, she was unhappy so came to live with me. However, after two years she wanted to return to the home which she did in October 2021. Unfortunately, four or more
of the senior team had left and so did the chef. Standards were affected but now have been restored to their exceptionally high standard. Credit to all staff.

Welcoming, warm, caring and sympathetic. Thourough and efficient 24/7. Respect for privacy. Reliable daily routine. Secure and safe ambience where you can relax. Open to all visitors but maybe needs easier access to qualified medics. Good activity programme choices.

Very, very friendly staff - warm and welcoming. The room was basic but clean. They all (staff) looked after Mum from start to finish. Although Mum was confused initial, she settled in and, in fact, will be spending another period shortly.

A lovely, homely atmosphere in a beautiful, well-maintained building. All staff, whatever their role, are friendly and respectful to the residents and each other. Any concerns staff or I have regarding Mum are happily discussed and an action plan is agreed upon and acted on. Mum continues to be supported
in settling in in her new home of four months and staff understand how hard it can be moving into a residential home. The activities are very well organised and residents involved in choosing upcoming events and whether to take part on the day.

My father has been resident in Willersley House for a couple of months. The staff are very much "on the ball" and very caring and professional. When he arrived, I sought out the Chaplin and asked her to come and introduce herself. She already knew my father was arriving, this level of coordination
shows that this is a well run home, working efficiently, and has only continued very well over the next few weeks.
His only complaint is that sometimes there is too much food, and he can't always finish it all!

When visiting the home it really does feel like home for the residents. Warm, friendly and inviting. All the staff are amazing, it is evident the residents are their main concern. All the residents are happy, comfortable and content. When a resident started to get upset the staff comforted her instantly.
The interaction between all staff including care, management team, kitchen, laundry and maintenance with the residents is outstanding. Well done to you all and thank you.

Despite staff changes and shortages, we still manage to retain the family atmosphere of this home. We are lucky in having an excellent activity timetable and an outstanding events organiser. We have a service twice a week and attend if we wish. I feel very much at home here.

My 96-year-old father had only been a resident at Willersley House for 6 months when he succumbed to the illness that sadly led to his death. I cannot praise the staff of the home highly enough for the dedicated and professional care he was given, and at a human level, the loving-kindness he was shown.
Knowing that end of life care was required, we were privileged to be able to spare dad the trauma and upheaval of hospital admission, entrusting him instead to the exceptional care of the staff at the home. He was cared for throughout his illness (and indeed, has been ever since his admission) with dignity, respect, sensitivity and dedication. Every single member of staff plays such a vital role in the wonderful team at Willersley, and I'm so happy he could join this lovely community in his final months. I was so grateful to be allowed the compassionate end of life visiting, and I was so touched by how well I was looked after too! Thank you so much, from the whole family.
Reply from Laura Barnsley, Home Manager at Willersley HouseThroughout the unexpectedly short time your dad was with us at Willersley, I can honestly say he was a true gentleman. Several of the residents have commented on how much they miss him already. In the time he was here he settled into the family and will be well and truly missed as he made such an impact on the staff and residents. We will miss his bad jokes which really did highlight our day. We’ve enjoyed getting to know his extended family too. We will miss our chats and how much he loved his gin!

Mum has lived at Willersley for almost four years now, and she thinks of it as “home”, which it is – a warm, friendly, caring place.
I have peace of mind knowing that the quality of care and support she receives is second to none. Staff are highly skilled and competent – all have a genuine interest
in mum’s changing needs and complete well-being.
The home is immaculate, comfortable, spacious and well maintained, inside and outside.
It is an extremely pleasant place to visit, and everyone goes out of their way to make visitors feel welcome – nothing is too much trouble.
The team have risen admirably to the extra challenges and added pressures caused by the pandemic, and we have all been kept so well informed of the ever-changing circumstances.
All the staff are passionate about providing the very best care they can for the residents, showing compassion, kindness, respect and dignity. They are brilliant and deserve the highest praise.
Reply from Laura Barnsley, Home Manager at Willersley HouseThank you for your kind words; it is appreciated that you have recognised what a fabulous team we have. As the Home Manager, I feel truly blessed to have such an amazing bunch of people to care for our residents.

My mum lived at Willersley House for 5 years and I can honestly say that every member of the team, without exception, are cheerful, dedicated, hard-working and a credit to their profession. They treat all residents and their relatives with compassion and respect. It has been hugely comforting during
the pandemic to know that my mum was so well looked after, right up to the end, as she sadly passed away in September. The home itself is clean and bright, activities are varied and numerous, and the food is home-cooked and nutritious. Willersley should be held up as a shining example of how we would all like to be looked after in later life. If I could give a higher accolade than absolutely outstanding I would.
Reply from Kathy, Chaplain at Willersley HouseThank you for your kind review. We are all missing your mum. She was kind, gentle and very quiet. She was a joy to care for and she viewed everything so positively, she never complained or moaned about anything. She took everything in her stride and appreciated the opportunities to continue her faith journey while with us. We will remember her in our prayers.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.106)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.106) out of 10 for Willersley House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.406 for Willersley House is calculated as follows: ( (54 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 4.406
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Willersley House is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
