My auntie and later on my Mum both lived at Willersley House. I had no concerns about my Mum moving in as we had both seen how well my auntie was being looked after. The home provides a high level of activities and guest entertainment. Visitors and relatives are not made to feel a nuisance. In my mum's
final illness when I was pretty much staying at Willersley House I became more aware of how staff did not cut corners in terms of health and hygiene issues as well at looking after her as best they could in a busy home. The bedrooms and public rooms were always clean. The laundry done regularly and returned promptly. The staff were always very busy but had time to answer questions. If they had any concerns they rang me up to let me know what was happening with my Mum or to try and solve any of their concerns over the phone. I think my Mum and Auntie were lucky to have lived at Willersley House. I knew that they would both be well looked after and I did not have to worry about them being there. It was good to visit and see them having a laugh and a joke with nursing and now nursing staff. I like to think that should I need to go into a care home that I will be as well looked after.
Reply from Laura Barnsley, Home Manager at Willersley HouseThank you Anita for your review. as a staff group we miss both your Auntie and your Mum as they were both so full of fun and made us laugh continuously throughout their time living at Willersley House. They were both such characters and it was a joy to care for them both.

My Uncle moved into Willersley House in June 2015 and I was immediately impressed by the positive attitude of the staff.
The room had been redecorated and was very clean and tidy.
My Uncle was a person with high standards and these were more than provided for by this Home and all the staff.
He was
always complimenting the care and attention given to him - meals were always to a very high standard.
As a very regular visitor I always found the Manager and her staff very approachable and always willing to provide help and advice.
I have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending the MHA and Willersley House - many thanks to them.
Reply from Laura Barnsley, Home Manager at Willersley HouseMany thanks Andrew for taking the time to comment on your late Uncle's stay at Willersley House. Although the time he spent with us was short, the staff were so happy to have met and cared for him. He was such a true gentleman.

My Mum has now been a resident at Willersley House for more than six years and although her health and mobility has declined with her advancing years, the love and care shown to her by all the staff has been exemplary. They treat her with dignity and respect as they do with all the residents, sometimes
under 'trying' circumstances. Mum is fortunate to have a fantastic keyworker for whom nothing is too much trouble.
The home is always kept clean and tidy and visitors are welcome at anytime. There is a choice of menu and the meals can be adapted to fit each individual's likes or dislikes. Residents can choose to stay in their own rooms or join others in the comfortable lounge which has a large TV screen or enjoy the tranquility of the quiet room. Activities for the residents take place most days and there are usually two Christian services held each week with visiting preachers.
I do not hesitate to recommend Willersley House should you be searching for a home for your loved one.
Reply from Laura Barnsley, Home Manager at Willersley HouseThank you Glynis for such lovely comments. Your Mum, having been a volunteer at Willersley House for many years prior to becoming a resident is a much loved, well known and respected lady and her contribution to the Home is hugely appreciated. It is a pleasure to be able to take care of her. Thank you for your continued support, you have all become very special to us.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.106)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.106) out of 10 for Willersley House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.406 for Willersley House is calculated as follows: ( (54 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 4.406
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Willersley House is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
