My step-dad, who is 96, has been in Ascot House for two years and during the whole of that time, he has been very well cared for. The staff are all friendly (both to residents and to visitors). It is very clean and comfortable and is a real home-from-home. He is very happy and I have every confidence that he is getting the best possible care.

Throughout the year my mum has been in the care home, I have always been very happy with the way the staff care for my mum in a safe and dignified way. They have helped, encouraged and offered a helping hand at any opportunity, not only for her but for the family members too. Carers give a high quality of care at all times.

Ascot House and all the staff have been amazing with the care of my family member. I feel she is well cared for. All the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, making sure all my visits went very well. I feel my family member is safe and happy and all the staff that take care of her, I feel they are the family she never had. I would highly recommend Ascot House. Thank you so very much.

My father had three hospital admissions in January and February 2022, suffering from heart issues and Alzheimer's. It was decided that he'd get the best 24-hour care in a home. During the selection process, the manager contacted me several times to discuss Dad's needs and the best environment for him. The family selected Ascot House and despite a potential last-minute hitch, which the manager dealt with calmly and professionally, Dad became a resident. His room was fresh, clean, bright and welcoming. The manager and her team cared for Dad with cheeriness, care, dignity and respect and despite his advanced Alzheimer's got to know him and his past hobbies. The team also communicated regularly with his family and took the time to understand our wishes. We will be forever appreciative and grateful for the care and attention given and the fact that Dad was happy, content, and well-fed, especially cakes and scones as Dad always had a sweet tooth. I would highly recommend the quality of care at Ascot House.

I recently lost my father and I wanted to express how much gratitude I have to the manager and her amazing team at Ascot House. Dad began his time with them just before lockdown in March 2020, it was a difficult time for us as a family and especially myself because I had seen him two times a day since my mother passed in 2015, the no visitor situation enforced by our government was very hard but we were kept well informed by the team. Dad's dementia progressed during his time at Ascot and he changed from the loving man he was into a sometimes aggressive and hard person to be around but the staff managed him with great care and dignity. He had a spell in hospital over the New Year of 2021 and I got numerous calls from multiple staff members, sometimes in tears, because they couldn’t get information about his well-being in the hospital. Just amazing and shows how much care was invested in my father! I would highly recommend the quality of care at Ascot House.

Mum went into Ascot House for two and a half weeks of respite care in August 2021. She felt very well cared for and said that nothing was too much trouble for the staff. I found the Manager and all the staff that I spoke to extremely friendly and helpful and very accommodating making sure that Mum was able to have visits but with all covid safety measures in place. Both Mum and I are more than happy for Mum to go there for Respite again.

I would like to praise the staff at Ascot House for the care given to my mother during this very difficult time. My mother is 93 and has dementia. She has been cared for at the home for four years, and it is her home. The staff notice when she needs something as she cannot ask for it and are very attentive, anticipating and encouraging her; giving me peace of mind.

I am writing this on behalf of my sister and myself. Our 98-year-old mother has been a resident at Ascot House for almost 7 years. I cannot praise enough the care she has received. The staff have always worked in partnership with us to ensure Mum's needs are met, not just in the formal reviews but on a regular basis. They are particularly effective at intervening early if Mum becomes unwell and for being her advocate with medical staff who may not know her well. We particularly want to acknowledge the compassion shown by staff for our needs as well as Mum's during this difficult time. Mum has Alzheimers and doesn't respond to communicating using technology and visiting is limited. In Mum's eyes, the staff are now her family, and they recognise how difficult that is for us to accept. They work hard to keep us alive in her memory and to keep us connected by sending photos and talking to us about her daily life. Nothing is too much trouble. We would not hesitate to recommend Ascot House.

I nearly fell last night and I know now I have to use my commode near my bed. I have had no panic attacks since I have been here, no heart racing 200 beats a minute, feel safe in bed, get a good nights sleep which I never had at home. People around, staff very nice, getting the help I need. I feel I need help 24 hrs per day, having a shower which I never had at home. Don't hear voices.

Mum has been a resident now for 5 weeks, can't believe how homely it is, staff are lovely, they can't do enough for you, relatives and Mum, nothing is too much trouble. It's a lovely place, no getting away with that, but Mum needs all the stimulation she can get. The manager is fantastic, does so many activities and Christmas was very special to us all. Christmas dinner out and Christmas part next day. Lovely, homely place.

The fact that I find myself living in a care home has come as a surprise - it came as a result of a rather bad fall - head cut open - may be more damage than I realised and the need for a place to recover (living alone without close relatives).

My mother was resident at Ascot House for the last few months of her life and although didn't like being in a care home, her loss of mobility made it necessary. The care she received from the staff at Ascot House was caring - but more importantly, it was loving. Their care of residents with dementia is excellent.

When arranging respite care the staff involved were very friendly and helpful. All the staff were very welcoming and polite to my father and my sister and I. The staff dealt with my father as well as I could have hoped for, carrying out his wishes. When I needed any information or had any concerns the staff listed and dealt with them.

My stepfather arrived at Ascot House very frail, severely underweight and recovering from a broken bone in his leg. He settled quickly. Staff were attentive to his needs and he soon gained weight. He came in lost and alone, but through friendly care and being treated in a very dignified manner he began to thrive and quickly gained weight. Despite having very poor, short term memory, and being easily confused, staff helped him to find his place in this very friendly environment so he was comfortable coming down to breakfast and could easily find his own room unaided. They provided the right level of support that met his needs but prompted him to complete tasks himself. He was very sad to leave.
