My father's care was of the very best, all of the staff were amazing, there are not enough words I can find to say thank you to them all, it’s for mainly this reason why I would recommend The Granby care home to others. My wishes are that management praise the staff directly, I would be most grateful for this. Thank you.
As the family of a resident, we’ve raised concerns regarding checks of my mother’s hearing aids on many occasions, over a period of time now spanning years. The management of the home has consistently failed to address these concerns, meaning my mum is often left unable to hear and effectively left isolated within a bubble unable to communicate. A complaint has also been raised with Brighterkind regarding this and other issues and sadly this also failed to address the issue.
This issue has caused us a great deal of upset and it is incredibly frustrating and upsetting to be continually ignored in this matter. Short of moving Mum elsewhere (which would be hugely upsetting for her in part due to her Parkinsons) we do not know how to get Brighterkind to listen to and address our concerns.
We are really sorry to hear your comments about hearing aids. We totally agree with you that hearing can improve quality of life and this is why in May, we put a new system in place. Although this has been working very smoothly, there was one day where things didn’t...
The Granby is outstanding in many respects and is much superior to any of the many homes I visited looking for care. The building is fantastic, but the most important thing is the quality of the staff and management. The customer relations assistant and care home manager are brilliant. The staff are all friendly, professional and cope with difficult situations well!
The food was cooked perfectly with plenty of flavours and a high standard of service was provided. Much appreciated, thank you.
This is an excellent facility. Mum has settled in well and she has commented on how lovely the staff are. I would thoroughly recommend The Granby.
After the sad loss of my father and Mum needing additional care as we were due to go on holiday we decided to give us all some respite care and chose the Granby as its reputation was so good. And it truly did live up to its name - so good that we have booked Mum in again for another week so we can visit our Grandchildren who live in London. She said she thoroughly enjoyed it and the food and daily activities were not to be missed! Thank you to all the staff, it really is a home from home.
The food was great and with plenty of activities to keep him occupied.
He would certainly go in again without any hesitation. I would really appreciate it if he could go in for a days respite care occasionally, it would help me and I feel keep him in contact with other residents at The Granby.
I eat lunch with the residents in the beautiful and upmarket restaurant. The food is excellent.
They have 3 full-time Chef's, very experienced.
The home also has 3 Activity Coordinators so the residents have a full program of activities and do not get bored. The Granby is the only care home I know that has its own Cinema, Residents use it a number of times each week.
The management team here is headed by a manager and all the leaders have a good working relationship with her.
I personally have viewed respect being shown to all residents. All personnel show a genuine interest and understanding of each resident.
Meals can either be taken in the resident's room or the restaurant.
This home also has a free Cafe where relatives and there loved ones can go for a drink and a snack.
I have not ever witnessed a care home of this quality before.
My father in law was a resident of The Granby for 2 days. The assessment prior to admission did not seem to identify his needs, likes, dislikes or equipment he required to keep him safe. He fell out of bed twice on the first night. We expected a much better standard of care from a nursing home. A formal letter of complaint has been submitted to the Manager.
Thank you for taking the time to review our home, we really appreciate it as it is through a feedback process that we can improve the service we provide. We are sorry that you did not experience the usually high standard of care provided at The Granby. Be assured, we take the issues raised...
Fantastic service from beginning to end of stay. Nothing too much trouble and staff friendly and professional.
The staff were welcoming and interested. The surroundings and facilities were delightful.
Unfortunately, as a family, we underestimated the level of support my father would need, and consequently, we shortened his visit to The Granby. This was in no way due to shortcomings in the arrangements we had made with staff before my father became resident. Therefore would be happy to recommend The Granby to someone with similar requirements for respite care.
Thank you so much for your feedback. We are really pleased to hear that you would recommend The Granby to others. Best wishes to you and your father.
We felt that she received a warm welcome and were pleased with the care that she received.
As a family, we would be very happy for her to return if the need should arise in the future.
Everything about The Granby is first class - food, staff, care shown to me, activities, cleanliness. I have been very happy here and I am sure this has helped to my recovery. I have also met some very nice residents.
I cannot recommend The Granby highly enough, our wonderful mum who was well known to staff was a real character, she sadly passed away on the 19th January but her few months spent in The Granby were very special.
We cannot commend the staff highly enough they are just brilliant, always caring, sharing a laugh with mum and being very patient as mum had mild dementia.
They made her last 2 weeks very comfortable and you could tell they cared for mum and us family as we were also looked after with their support.
We as a family will always be eternally grateful for all they did, the manager and the team are just wonderful.
We miss our mum terribly but we rest knowing that she had the best care not only from us but particularly from the staff that she adored
This place is not like a normal care home but more like a 5-star hotel, it's just beautiful
Highly recommended.
Thanks, everyone xxx
First week very noisy, second week excellent. Very considerate, staff considering all work going on.
Visited for respite. The section I was resident in is under refurbishment. The work and design is to a very high standard, worthy of the best hotels. Work in progress gave some inconvenience but the tradesmen were polite, considerate and helpful. The new lift will be a great improvement and the ballroom "should be listed" and the sprung floor preserved. My room was comfortable and quiet with shower room, good adjustable bed and TV. Maintenance staff were helpful.
Service was at the end of a button with a quick response. Heating was adequate but needed controls. Reception rooms were of a high standard, with beverages served, and also the use of a snack bar. Food was of acceptable quality but there was a limited menu for residents who are not mobile and had eating problems, therefore not always to my requirements. I did not require medical assistance, however, it was comforting to know it was available. The respite visit helped my recovery, however I am fitter than many of the residents.
Once the upgrade is complete there will be a larger lift, which will be a great help for users in wheelchairs.
The staff are friendly and seem professional, although not always as proactive as they could be in offering help.
This resident spent more time in her room than she wanted, apparently because staff were not always available to help her to access the public rooms.
My mother was in The Granby for about 3 years. Throughout her stay, the staff always showed a very high level of care. The food was good, the home was clean and bright with attractive pictures on the wall and generally gave the impression of a good hotel rather than a care home. There seemed to be a wide range of activities available although my mother wasn't interested. There were a few faults, mainly the home's inability to return the resident's own clothes to them after laundering, but I can't speak highly enough of the staff. My mother was bedridden for her last 6 months but never developed a bed sore and was always kept comfortable. The staff never gave the impression of anything being too much trouble. I have heard so many stories of homes where residents were neglected in some way, even expensive homes, but I never experienced this at The Granby and could not recommend it more.
The atmosphere has been lifted. The air smells fresh it is cleaner and there are more staff. Residents lounge is never left without a member of staff. Staff talk to residents and are alert to what residents are doing.
Spend a lot of time in the dining room at meal times and surprised how much food is sent back from residents.
Why when you go in for supper the cook has gone home when people ask for something else.
Also, old people do not want so much pasta and spaghetti and pizza.
If I had a complaint that would be it.
But as I say, I'm 95% happy.
Thank you for your comments, we always welcome feedback. We strive to continually improve our care and we are glad that you have had a largely positive experience with us. At The Granby, we love our food. We firmly believe that when you eat well, you live well too. This is a core part of our...
