The Granby offers elegance and style and is a place in which residents feel pampered and cared for. The home provides residential, nursing, and respite care.

The Granby has undergone a full refurbishment, the modernised home includes a welcoming reception area, lounge and bar area and stunning dining room. All rooms have been tastefully redecorated in a number of elegant themes. In addition to this, the home also has a café, wellbeing suite and a luxurious cinema that residents can enjoy.

The lounge at The Granby is the perfect place to enjoy afternoon tea and socialise as it looks out across the famous common, The Stray.

There is a superb collection of reading material including books, magazines and papers in the decadent library; now called Lord Byron’s library as this is where the famous bard wrote some of his literary works.

Residents can be treated to a new hairstyle in the hairdressing salon or even relaxing aromatherapy or reflexology sessions in the privacy of their own rooms.

There are attractive grounds in which to relax or take gentle exercise. For the more adventurous there is a seven-seater minibus equipped for wheelchair access which means residents can enjoy excursions both into Harrogate town centre and further afield. A range of recreational activities take place in the beautifully restored and original Crystal Ballroom.

The standard of accommodation and care afforded at The Granby is second to none, with every resident being actively encouraged to retain their independence in order that they lead as full a life as possible.

I have always found the staff friendly, co-operative and eager to help.
They show concern and real care for the welfare of residents. They are friendly and know my name, even though I am only a visitor.
These people do a splendid job under difficult circumstances sometimes. They should be proud.
Perhaps the catering could be more imaginative - residents need tempting to improve appetite!

From the moment that we first enquired about respite care for Mum, it was our first foray into care provision and we weren't sure what to expect. The team at The Granby could not have been more helpful. They went out of their way to support and assist us and mum could not have been looked after any
better during her week there.
The staff are warm and friendly with both guests and relatives and the facilities are of hotel standards. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Granby.

My elderly father-in-law was a resident for 2 weeks after breaking his hip, in between being discharged from hospital and returning home. It was an ideal step along the road to recovery, allowing him to build up his confidence, strength and independence after spending 2 months in hospital. By the time
he left, he was able to use his zimmer frame and walk over 100m using it. He was very well looked after by the care staff and was very pleased with his choice to stay there. The administration and organisation of his stay by the care home management were excellent and we felt we had been given a personal and professional service by them. We can thoroughly recommend it.

My mother needed respite care following a stay in hospital. She has received excellent care during her stay, so much so that she is considering staying here for the long term.

When my husband went into care at the later stage of his cancer. I can't praise the staff enough. They were all very caring to him in the short time he was there and also to me and we had the wake there with you also which was great. Many thanks to all members of staff.

My father was resident for four and a half years until his death in October 2019. He has really enjoyed life at The Granby and the family never regretted our decision for him to move there. The building is beautiful, well cared for, in an attractive location. The staff are excellent and their genuine
care contributed greatly to my father's happiness even though they are somewhat overworked. Stimulating and varied program of activities. Visitors are made welcome and can share meals and most activities with residents. The standard of food has varied but most recently has been good.
Special praise is due for the end of life care my father received. He remained in his own room surrounded by family and friends, and the support and care of staff who he knew well, backed up by nursing support. I personally experienced the kindness of staff after his death when I stayed for several days.
Only negative comment - frequent changes of management so not always knowing who to speak to about issues.

My dad spent just over two weeks in The Granby for end of life care passing away on 27th September 2019. Everyone from management, admin staff, nurses, carers, looked after dad with great care and consideration and made a difficult time so much easier for the family. The home is beautifully decorated
from the lounges to the rooms and it has a very welcoming atmosphere throughout. The only slight issue was the locum nurses who were a little unsure when asked about dads meds etc but I know the manager and team are aware of this and I am confident this will be rectified and of course, is somewhat out of management control until brought to their attention.

My grandad spent his final weeks being cared for at the Granby care home. The care both he and my family received was excellent. The nurses and carers cared for him in such a loving and respectful way, they became like family to us even for the short time he was there. At the final stages and end of
life, we were overwhelmed by the love that was shown and for this, we are so grateful. The perfect environment for end of life.

My initial enquiry was very positive and encouraging. We brought my mother in law in for respite care in late August. We wanted a high standard for her and we have certainly received it. I have made a few enquiries to The Granby whilst having been away and have been reassured greatly on each occasion.
Our own family and friends have visited themselves and have been impressed with the quality of the residence and the staff looking after our special relative. Bringing our mother into a care home is a big decision, even for respite, but we have been greatly relieved in doing so and our consciences greatly relaxed at the same time. Highly recommended.

Excellent care is given by very professional staff who were only too willing to help with any problems and always with a happy attitude and a smile.

All the staff at the Granby are always friendly and polite. I could not fault the care my mother received in the 2.8 years she was there. It was clear that the carers liked my mother and she, in turn, liked them. Whenever they were passing her room, they popped in to say hello and always made time to
answer any questions the family may have had. If they didn’t know the answer they would find someone who did. It wasn’t just the care that is very good. The decor of the Granby is very elegant, bright and welcoming and looked more like a hotel than a care home. I would recommend it to friends and family without hesitation.

Over the recent couple of months 2 friends (both had the Parkinson's condition), have passed away whilst residents of the Granby Residential Home due to unrelated conditions they had! Although extremely sad and unexpected (in both cases) - the care, attention, consideration and understanding shown by
the staff concerned to them, us friends and the relatives of both families, (for which they are extremely grateful) has been impressive and showed great sensitivity!
Such compassion can't be trained into staff but is clearly down to the quality staff employed and I have no hesitation in recommending the home.
