My mam has been a resident since December 2024. After being very nervous about mam going into care I knew instantly this was the perfect one for her. The support we’ve received from all the management and staff has been outstanding. I knew after my first visit she would be well cared for by all the
amazing staff who work very hard. They have regular activities and outings which the residents love.
I know my mam is safe now after many months of worrying.
I highly recommend Craghall to anyone who wants the best care for their loved ones.
Thanks to all the staff, you all do a fantastic job.

My great auntie has settled well thanks to the care of the staff. Despite initially being nervous and spending a lot of time in her room, their gentle coaxing and encouragement now has her front row for most of the enriching activities that take place.
From sing-a-longs, to trips, to movie days and
crafts there is always something going on to keep my great auntie busy.
It’s a huge weight off the family’s mind to know that she is well cared for and all her needs are met.

Almost one year ago I had to choose a suitable care home for my mother who suffers from advanced Alzheimer's disease. After many visits to others, I arrived at Craghill and was immediately struck by how caring and professional the staff I spoke to were. I no longer worry about the care my mother receives
here compared to her previous location. She is looking a picture of health now. In fact, we joke she has a better social life than us due to regular trips to and activities.

My mother was a resident of Craghall Care Home for just over two years. She sadly died on 29/11/2023. The care and love she received, and indeed our family, was exemplary. The care team are a dedicated, cohesive and hard-working group of people. The support we all received made us feel part of the Craghall
family, and we are very grateful.

Choosing the right care home for a loved one can be a very emotional and daunting experience yet from our very first meeting with the manager, we knew we’d chosen the perfect place for our beloved mum. The environment and the quality of care provided at Craghall are, we believe, second to none and during
the final four weeks of her life there the entire team proved to be utterly outstanding. End-of-life care is truly a vocation and every single member of staff from domestic and catering, through entertainment, daily care and management afforded both my mum and us, her family, the utmost respect, kindness, compassion and love. We truly cannot thank them enough for everything they did to make her last days the most comfortable they could have been and for taking us all under their wing during this time. Nothing, however small, was too much trouble for them and we will never forget this or them. They are an absolutely outstanding group of women.

My mum was a resident at Craghall Care Home for almost two and a half years and throughout this time she received exceptional care and support. She sadly became quite poorly in November and we as a family opted for her to remain at Craghall until she passed away as she had created such a strong bond
with the wonderful team of carers and staff. My mum suffered from Dementia so remaining in familiar surroundings with loving and caring people was very important to her and provided immense support to myself and family during this difficult time. I can honestly say I have never felt so truly grateful to a group of individuals from domestic staff to kitchen assistants, carers and the whole management team. Every person showed the utmost care and respect to not only my mum but to our entire family. I will remain truly grateful to Crahall for making my mum's final years and days as special as they possibly could be and recommend them to anyone looking for a care home specialising in dementia.

My mum has been in the care home for five months. She has dementia and has settled in reasonably well. She is treated with dignity and respect and is given good care from all staff.
Mum engages with the activities and is encouraged to do so. The staff have a good understanding of my mum's likes and
dislikes and tailor activities accordingly.
She is always happy when staff engage with her. She gets frustrated and upset at things and wants to be home, but this is more to do with her diagnosis rather than care she is receiving.

Craghall was the third care home we tried for my uncle when he returned to the UK. The first two were ok; however, it has only been since he moved to Craghall that he has felt completely happy. nice, and I don't think we could have found a better place than Craghall.

I was both surprised and relieved at how well my mother has settled into Craghall as she was always so independent. It took a little while but the staff are so nice and friendly with her that she now feels very much at home. Unfortunately, old age is robbing her of her memory so when I ask what she's
been doing or what she had for lunch she can't remember but I'm told she does participate and she certainly looks well on it. Craghall is well situated on the edge of Jesmond dene park with a lovely garden to sit in during the summer which made it a bit easier to cope with the restrictions imposed during covid. So I'm satisfied that my mother is in a good place for this stage in her life.

The decision for Mam to go into a care home was taken out of our hands by her consultant, it took a little while for her to settle in but a move to a room downstairs did the trick. Since then I couldn't ask for better care for her, the staff are all friendly and down to earth and nothing is too much
trouble mam really enjoys the food especially the puddings! Even though the home is on a busy road when you're in the grounds you feel like you're in the middle of the countryside. I have peace of mind that mam is looked after properly 24/7. I have thought about negatives concerning the home and can say I can't name any.
Reply from Wellburn Care Homes, Marketing Co-ordinator at CraghallAnne, it's great to know your mum is enjoying her time with us at Craghall! Each one of our teams works hard to make sure every aspect of the home is up to a perfectly high standard, so it's lovely to hear there are only good things to say - from food to activities to the care itself, we make sure that everything is adapted to each of our residents' needs.

Majority of residents suffer mental health issues which is upsetting and often uncomfortable to be in the lounge at the same time as I do not suffer from dementia.
Being sat at mealtimes with alike people (residents) helps but is not guaranteed and can cause me anxiety associated with this.
Reply from Wellburn Care Homes, Marketing Co-ordinator at CraghallThank you for the feedback - here at Craghall, our doors are open to residents who need care but whose issues are not severe enough for nursing. This at times includes people with mild forms of dementia, which our staff have been trained to work with, and we would not turn them away when they need our help, as not everyone is lucky enough to avoid the condition, sometimes even in its mildest form. Please know that you can always turn to any staff member if you need any support, and they will be happy to help in any way they can.

Not having dealt with another care home it is difficult to know good/bad a place is. I have found staff helpful and friendly in the difficult Covid times. Mam has taken a while to settle but has been well supported.
I actually feel a survey/review like this would be much better if done at a local level
and some observations could be made without it appearing as a complaint.

On the whole, the senior staff listen and try to do their best to resolve any difficulty or problem/complaint they receive. The less senior carers can vary, depending on the pressures they may be feeling under at the time and may just hope the problem/complaint will "go away" without receiving attention.
Reply from Wellburn Care Homes, Marketing Co-ordinator at CraghallHi Jean, thanks for your feedback. Here at family-run Wellburn, we deal with every problem or complaint we receive with the utmost care and attention. In fact, we value all feedback, good or bad - it's this feedback that allows us to shape the way we do things and gives us a good indication of the things we're doing well and areas we could do better. All of our staff are there as a first port of call for any issues but depending on the situation a judgement will always be made to either deal with it directly or pass it on to a member of the management team. We never hope a problem will simply go away and always give each case our full attention. If you have a specific example where you feel we haven't done that, we'd love for you to reach out to discuss the matter with us further.
