My mum has lived at Craghall for three months and I cannot rate the care she has had highly enough. Craghall itself is clean and well maintained with beautiful furnishings and a comfortable ambience. The staff are all friendly and jolly and have a very caring attitude towards the residents. We as a
family are delighted that our mum is being looked after in such a lovely manner.

I am delighted with Craghall. The environment is clean, relaxed and feels very safe. The staff are, without exception, excellent. I feel that they really care about my mothers physical and emotional needs. The staff have made what was a very traumatic time for my siblings and I a very professional and
supportive process. Thank you.

My Mother-in-law has been resident in Craghall for six weeks now since leaving hospital. Unfortunately, she fell and broke her hip in December 2017 and has had to leave her family home as she can't manage the stairs. My Mother-in-law has settled very well at Craghall as the care provided there is
excellent. The staff are caring, friendly and very welcoming to relatives. It is very clear that the staff show dignity and respect to residents. The care home is always clean and tidy and feels very safe. I would highly recommend this care home.

Outstanding! I looked at 11 care homes. The welcome, information and time on my first unannounced visit made me decide this was where I would like my mother to live. The room was like a little home - beautiful. I like the way the staff stop and give you all the time you need. Parties and trips excellent.
They need a replacement activities person when they are on holiday.

My mother was a resident at Craghall for seven years before, sadly, she died in July. She was very happy there and the care she received was excellent. The home itself was always comfortable and standards of cleanliness very high. Staff were very caring and I cannot thank everyone enough for the way
she was looked after in her final days.

My mother has been resident here for five years. The staff are very pleasant and caring. There is a good atmosphere there. Mum enjoys the food.
The building in parts could do with some refurbishment. The gardens are very well kept. The staff are always very helpful.

My husband spent one week at Craghall so that I could recharge my batteries. The staff were caring and considerate, nothing was too much trouble. He was always neat and tidy and his clothes were changed every day. He always seemed contented whenever anyone visited. It has the feel of a country house
hotel rather than a care home.

My mum has been in Craghall for 4 months and I am delighted with the care she is receiving. The staff are superb - patient, kind and helpful. I have not seen a single moment of any lapse of professionalism or caring. The staff are consistently welcoming to visitors. The premises are clean and bright.
My mum reports that the food is very good!

My mother moved into sheltered accommodation at the age of 90, she spent 10 wonderful years there.
At the age of 100, she was unable to cope on her own. My husband and I had already decided two or three years ago that Craghall would be perfect for her needs.
It has exceeded our expectations. She settled
in well thanks to the caring staff and managers and the wonderful food. She is very sociable and loves all the activities and being with people all day, not feeling lonely now.
After 10 years of caring, I can live my life knowing my mother is in good hands.

I have found this care home to be a top class facility during the last 7 years I have been visiting. My friend has been well looked after and her onset of dementia has been monitored and responded to in a sympathetic way. There has been several staff changes in my time visiting but I have always found
all staff to be supportive and pleasant. If I had to, I would choose this home for myself.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.869)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.869) out of 10 for Craghall is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 28 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.869 for Craghall is calculated as follows: ( (294 Excellents x 5) + (39 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 335 Ratings = 4.869
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Craghall is based on 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 38 registered maximum number of service users is 7.6, which has been reached with 28 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
