The staff at Orchard Mews are fantastic. They give the best care to my Nana and all others there. Can't thank them enough for being there during lockdown when we were not able to be there.

My mum came into this home after having three hip operations needing nursing care. Mum has Alzheimer's, and she has always been treated with kindness, courtesy, dignity and love. We have always been given a warm welcome when we visited mum, before Covid. The atmosphere at the home is friendly and caring. I always feel that the carers treat mum as if she were their mum or grandma; I can't ask for any more.

My mam is a resident at Orchard Mews. I have not seen her for a couple of months with the Coronavirus but I am very grateful to all the staff for their hard work. When I ring up to ask about her they sometimes put her on the phone. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff.

My mum has been in Orchard Mews since November 2019. She came to the care home after 3 hip operations and needed to have both nursing and care. I have nothing but praise for this care home. The staff and manager go up and beyond for all the residents in their care. Since this awful pandemic myself and my 2 sisters have not seen our mum for 5 months but today I have been able to go in and see her in her room. Was a very emotional time for both myself and my mum who has Alzheimers. Even though my other sisters couldn't be there as I am the nominated one to go in just telling them over the phone how well Mum looked has made them very happy I thank all the staff again for their kindness in making this happen. They have looked after Mum so well given her hugs when needed and keeping all the residents happy and content. HC1 should be very proud of all their staff at Orchard Mews.

My mum has been a resident in Orchard Mews for the last few years and I am writing this review to acknowledge the excellent care she has been given during this period at this time as coronavirus is very worrying especially for older people. The staff at Orchard Mews have gone above and beyond what is expected, they stopped all but essential visiting before the government lockdown in an effort to keep everyone safe and have kept us informed during the whole time. Placing a parent in care is a very difficult decision but I can honestly say the homely atmosphere provided by staff make this a very special place. Thank you Orchard Mews.

My mam has been in the care of the Orchard Mews Team for six years and it has been remiss of me to not have left a review before now, as all of the Team deserve a huge Thank You!
Mam joined the residents at Orchard Mews when, not only her Dementia was severe, but she had also broken her hip. She was in a very bad way and at a very low ebb. Over the months and years since then, the Management and nursing Team have not only helped her recover physically but made her life comfortable and safe within a very caring environment. The whole team from management, nursing and care, to the catering crew have added huge value to Mams life.
It is always an emotional time when I visit Mam but I am always met with a warm friendly smile and the all important offer of 'a cup of tea'.
Now in these very uncertain times of COVID-19, I know Mam is in the very best place she could be and under the best care.

Again, a massive thank you to you all working at Orchard Mews!

My Mam has lived at Orchard Mews for almost 6 years and has been very happy there. From walking in the door you are always made to feel very welcome it feels like home, the staff are friendly they always offer tea and a catch-up, they know about our families and lives and are interested in every part of the residents care. Mam has excellent care every single day, one day I was thanking her carer for everything she does and her reply was amazing she said: " I take care of your Mam as if she was my own Mam" I left with tears in my eyes but knowing my Mam was in the right place! Last weekend was Mother's Day, we were unable to visit due to the COVID-19 virus and the staff sent a lovely photo of Mam surrounded by the flowers, chocolates and cards that we'd sent saying don't worry I'm having a lovely day! They go the extra mile in providing excellent care in a very warm and caring setting, so a home from home.

I have lived here for three years due to a stroke I had. I can't do many things for myself and rely on the staff to look after me, which they do without question. They are kind and considerate and are always there when you need them.

Mam has been in the home now for over a year and she still likes it. The home is always clean and tidy, the staff are very helpful with all the need for my mam can come and visit at any time and if we cannot make it if we were unwell, they let her know. We feel that she is safe and well looked after and part of the home's family.

My mother has been in Orchard Mews 6 months now. I find the staff to be very friendly and willing to help. My mother has settled very well and the care staff are great in dealing with her, as her dementia is quite advanced. I would recommend this care home to my friends and family.

Overall Experience

I chose this home because it has a nice homely atmosphere, partly due to the smaller size perhaps. The Wellbeing co-ordinator has settled in really quickly and is doing a marvellous job, which is great as it is such a key role. Not just the carers, but all of the staff who work here are very caring and friendly regardless of their duties. My last visit to see my mother coincided with an armchair exercise class which took place in the lounge, so I obviously joined in. The man that comes to do the exercises classes made it great fun with his banter and he had a good selection of music from times gone by, which made it more interesting for the residents as I believe that music is very good at sparking memories. I participated just to be sociable, as I naively thought armchair exercises are hardly challenging, are they? Surprisingly though, the next day I could feel the effect in my legs, as the muscles were feeling a little stiff. I think this either means that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover or that I urgently need to join a gym.

I have personally found Orchard Mews care home to be excellent. The staff are always polite. Each time I come to visit my ex-partner, the staff take the time to ask, for example, if I would like a cup of tea. The office is also available to give feedback about the resident and how he is doing. The nurse who knows the resident is always available to talk to.
