Welcome to Earsdon Grange

Located in the residential area of Wellfield, less than 2 miles from the seaside town of Whitley Bay, Earsdon Grange is an award-winning purpose-built care home offering residential and dementia residential care as well as respite breaks.

The home is a two-storey building with a secure garden located at the back of the home and patio and gardens at the front. The ground floor of the home houses residential clients and has a coffee shop with a conservatory attached, TV lounge and dining room. The first floor of the home has a cinema room, lounge and dining room for dementia residents to enjoy.   

Food is a huge aspect of the care at Earsdon Grange and the home has a 5-star Food Hygiene rating. The Cook loves home baking and bakes fresh scones, cakes, birthday cakes daily in the kitchen for the hospitality trolley as well as a choice of breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper at the home. Friday is always fish and chips and Sunday they have a roast dinner.

The home is accessible by car and has a small car park at the front of the home in the unnumbered bays as well as on-street parking. The closest Metro Station to the home is West Monkseaton located on Earsdon Road or the local buses 57, 57A, W1 and W1A which have a pickup and drop off point at the Metro Station and then a .05 mile walk to the home.

Earsdon Grange benefits from strong links to the local community thanks to a full-time activities coordinator who provides a programme of activities, entertainment, and events that the residents can choose from.

My mother was welcomed into the home by friendly staff. She and her specific needs are addressed as required. When visiting if we do require extra assistance help is always available. The staff treat my mother with the respect and dignity that we expect. Although she may not know where she is she doesn't
have any bad feedback for the team. That is the best we can wish for. Thank you!

Generally a very friendly care home, most staff seem genuinely caring and there is always a warm welcome on reception. My mother has settled well into the home and seems to feel safe there; staff do take time to get to know residents but as there is probably not enough for them they do not have enough
time to do this as much as they would wish. Management always approachable for any concerns issues and family kept in the loop with things. My mother says the food is lovely.

Earston Grange is a warm and friendly environment. My mum is settling into it but as expected some adjustments are needed as she gets used to new surroundings. It is probably a bit early to give a meaningful response below but certainly "Good" would be our early response. We feel very hopeful.

My aunt has settled in really well at Earsdon Grange. All of the staff are friendly and welcoming. Right from the start they made an effort to get to know her and encouraged her to join in with the activities. The rooms are spacious and clean. We are free to visit when suits and are made to feel welcome.

I really enjoyed my respite stay. I was treated with the best care and respect, everything to make my visit enjoyable and my wife able to enjoy her break. I can be very inappropriate, something other homes can't handle. On one respite break a member of staff said I was a "nasty horrible man"! It broke
my wife's heart but Earsdon Grange was able to manage me without disrespecting me. It was like home from home (better food). Can't thank them enough.

My mother has been in the home for more than 1 year now. I live abroad and the staff keep me well informed of Mam's status by email. I love their social media page showing all they are up to. The staff all make me welcome when I visit which I try to do every three months.

Since my gran arrived at Earsdon in September, staff have gone above and beyond to ensure her safety and wellbeing. My gran has been included in activities and encouraged. Senior staff have ensured she has had the correct medical attention to investigate any concerns immediately.

Staff are very caring and treat everyone with respect and dignity. There is a good rapport with the clients and there is lots of laughter in the place. It was very hard for us both at first but we were supported through it well. My husband is happy and that is the main and most important thing.

I am unable to visit my Aunt very frequently as I live a distance away and am also a personal carer for my sister. From what I have seen of the home my Aunt's room is always tidy and clean. The staff that I have come into contact with are very pleasant and helpful. My aunt always seems happy and tells
me that the staff are lovely and that the food is very good. Her appearance has improved greatly since entering the home.

Hello my name is Nicola Bell, I am the Registered Manager of Earsdon Grange care home, which is situated in Whitley Bay.

I have worked in the Health Care profession since 2002 starting as a care assistant and working my way to Home Manager. I have completed my NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care and level 5 in Leadership and Management.


Earsdon Grange is a two story building with 48 rooms and 48 staff working in the home. We encourage people to visit us anytime and see for themselves the positive and friendly atmosphere that the team have, who work at Earsdon Grange care home.
