I am happy with the care and support my Aunt receives at this time. There was an issue with the laundry that has been resolved. I don't think activities are as good as when my Aunt first went into the nursing home.

As like every family member, I haven't seen my mum since lockdown. However, they have been kind enough to call with updates of my mums health issues to me. The Easter card and photo was a very nice gesture at this difficult time we are living in. Thank you.

Mum was welcomed into the home for respite care. We found the staff to be warm, kind and caring. They took excellent care of mum making sure all her medical and social needs were met. This they did with smiles and encouragement. When it was time for mum to go home she decided she wanted to stay and
for this, we are extremely grateful as we know she is safe, secure and well looked after. The staff are fantastic and I would like to say a big thank you to them; especially now as the coronavirus makes it impossible for us to visit her. The staff continue to go to work during these times and have set up a video call sessions so we can still talk to her.

My wife was in Earsdon Grange for respite, during the 8 days she was in she fell twice, she had never fallen at home. She is a changed woman since I brought her home, with pains in her head and neck since the fall. Why won't your staff more observant? The dementia lounge is much too small and uninviting
also some of her clothes are still missing.

I found the home to be very pleasant and beautifully kept. Staff couldn't have been nicer and very helpful. Meals were excellent with plenty to eat.
Really happy with the room I was given. I only wished I'd had a TV in it.

I have nothing but praise for this care home. It is kept beautifully clean and has a lovely, welcoming atmosphere. There are always plenty of carers available and very hands-on. They all seem to have a very caring and pleasant manner with all the clients (from carers, office staff, to domestic, kitchen
and maintenance staff).

I've waited a long time for respite for my mum and I. Mum going into Earsdon Grange Care Home was perfect for her. She was very apprehensive going in, but on her return home she made lots of friends and all the staff were wonderful. I wouldn't hesitate for my mum to return to stay in their care, neither
would my mum. She's looking forward to Wednesday coffee mornings which we both have been invited to.

The few times I have been able to visit Dad because I live in Surrey - he has always looked clean, well dressed and comfortable. Staff never know when I am coming so this always happens. Food looks so appetising and nicely served to him in his room. Whenever I phone staff are friendly and helpful and
they contact me whenever there is a problem. I feel so relieved that Dad is looked after in such a pleasant environment and say a huge 'Thank you' to all involved in his care.

From the moment I walked in Earsdon Grange, it felt like a home, not a care home. Staff are caring and friendly and the home had a warm, welcoming feel to it. My Mum felt safe and happy and that gave me precious peace of mind.

I feel that the care in the home has decreased over the last year as the staff are always running around. Very little time to spend with the people who they are caring for. The whole team are lovely but feel people at the top need to look at this.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.391)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.391) out of 10 for Earsdon Grange Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 37 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 35 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.391 for Earsdon Grange Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (216 Excellents x 5) + (175 Goods x 4) + (42 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 435 Ratings = 4.391
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Earsdon Grange Care Home is based on 35 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 48 registered maximum number of service users is 9.6, which has been reached with 35 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
