Welcome to Earsdon Grange

Located in the residential area of Wellfield, less than 2 miles from the seaside town of Whitley Bay, Earsdon Grange is an award-winning purpose-built care home offering residential and dementia residential care as well as respite breaks.

The home is a two-storey building with a secure garden located at the back of the home and patio and gardens at the front. The ground floor of the home houses residential clients and has a coffee shop with a conservatory attached, TV lounge and dining room. The first floor of the home has a cinema room, lounge and dining room for dementia residents to enjoy.   

Food is a huge aspect of the care at Earsdon Grange and the home has a 5-star Food Hygiene rating. The Cook loves home baking and bakes fresh scones, cakes, birthday cakes daily in the kitchen for the hospitality trolley as well as a choice of breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper at the home. Friday is always fish and chips and Sunday they have a roast dinner.

The home is accessible by car and has a small car park at the front of the home in the unnumbered bays as well as on-street parking. The closest Metro Station to the home is West Monkseaton located on Earsdon Road or the local buses 57, 57A, W1 and W1A which have a pickup and drop off point at the Metro Station and then a .05 mile walk to the home.

Earsdon Grange benefits from strong links to the local community thanks to a full-time activities coordinator who provides a programme of activities, entertainment, and events that the residents can choose from.

I would like to thank all the staff for their kindness and support in looking after my brother for two weeks respite care so I could attend my son's wedding and other family matters. You have an excellent care manager who has a great

This care home is excellent. My mum has settled really well as it is a caring environment and all staff are professional and friendly. My mum is well cared for. I would prefer a few more activities or maybe there are plenty but my mum doesn't join in? The costs are satisfactory but as my mum is self-funded
I consider all care homes to be expensive especially as the council rate is much less. This care home is the best I have seen and their values and ethos are exceptional. I would recommend Earsdon Grange to future residents.

My mum was placed in Earsdon Grange Care Home for six weeks of respite. The staff, cleaners, cooks, and receptionists are exceptional. My mum entered saying she was frightened of life, upon leaving she asked if they would keep her room as she was definitely going back as a full-time resident! She is
no longer frightened!

Having never visited a care home until I came in for respite care I am very pleased with the treatment I have received. All the staff have been excellent and do not get the appreciation they deserve. They are excellent with the residents and should be allowed to spend more time with them instead of
doing many other jobs. They should also receive higher wages instead of being on a low one.

My mum has been a resident of Earsdon Grange for a few years. Have nothing to say other than the staff at Earsdon are totally the best. Mum is safe, well, enjoys her surroundings, has her hair done, pampered, the works. Me - well I sleep at night - all well in my mum's world.

Excellent care for my grandmother, staff are always helpful and friendly. My grandma loves living here and enjoys the activities that are put on. My grandma speaks very highly of all of the staff and says that they can't do enough for her.

This was my first visit to see my mam in 17-months, in fact, able to see her due to geographical residence and Covid-19. I was warmly welcomed by staff, tests carried out with clear instructions and good dialogue between staff and myself. Clean, well presented and friendly.

Earsdon Grange provides fantastic care for my Mam. The staff are very friendly and the care is very good. We are always kept informed about my Mam and the home have taken great care of everyone throughout the pandemic. My Mam is happy and settled which is very reassuring.

Earsdon Grange is a very well run care home. Mother has been a resident for 2 years now, and despite her reluctance to go into a home she has settled well. It has been difficult over the last 14 months with not seeing mam as much as we’d like but the staff have worked very hard to keep me informed about
her care. All the staff I have had contact with have been courteous, pleasant and friendly. Mam is well cared for and at the end of the day it is all we can ask. The home seem to have a very active activities programme which unfortunately my mam has difficulty engaging with, however it is reassuring to see all the photos on Facebook. I’d like to thank all the staff for their hard work and dedication during what must have been a horrendous year. Well done.

The staff are friendly when I phone up. Although there is a lack of mobile phones. Therefore as I am 200 miles away from my Dad I find it very annoying that out of 100 phone calls to Earsdon Grange home I have only been able to talk with my Dad on 10 occasions. I have heard my Dad shouting help three
times. I discussed this matter with a staff member and they said they can not help them all day.

Hello my name is Nicola Bell, I am the Registered Manager of Earsdon Grange care home, which is situated in Whitley Bay.

I have worked in the Health Care profession since 2002 starting as a care assistant and working my way to Home Manager. I have completed my NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care and level 5 in Leadership and Management.


Earsdon Grange is a two story building with 48 rooms and 48 staff working in the home. We encourage people to visit us anytime and see for themselves the positive and friendly atmosphere that the team have, who work at Earsdon Grange care home.
