I am so please I moved my dad into Ashbourne Lodge Care Home as I can see he is well cared for. His bedroom is always clean and tidy and very happy with activities as he enjoys his outings on the mini-bus.

My father has recently been admitted into the Ashbourne Lodge Care Home. From the day of his admission, all staff have always been very helpful and supportive to both my father and me. The staff deliver excellent care to my father maintaining his dignity at all times.

Staff were understanding of my needs as the daughter and of my mother's needs. The staff treated mum with respect and tenderness, clearly aware of her needs and habits. Very grateful for the care they are taking of my mum.

I visited this home today looking for a safe and secure home for my mam. I've looked at a few homes but this one seemed very nice a lovely, homely place to be when we visited. We were taken upstairs where a lovely, friendly member of staff was decorating and explained it all about scenery for the dementia
which we found very interesting, what a lovely thing to do for people with dementia. This is the home we would want to look after my mam.

The staff organised a fabulous 90th garden party for my mother and the queen. They were very attentive to all the residents, making sure they were all able to participate and enjoy the day. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They included me in all the arrangements which resulted in the creation
of many happy memories for my mam, myself and her family and friends.

I love it here, I have plenty of company and there is always something going on. The staff are great and always pleasant, I can't complain about anything the food is always very nice and the home is kept lovely and clean.

My mother-in-law has settled in well at the care home after a few initial problems, which were to be expected. She has a good relationship with the staff and some of the residents, that she associates with. The fact that she has lived in the Sunderland area for most of her life a positive fact in her
being comfortable in her new surroundings. The home is also fairly close to her family who are able to pay her regular visits and speak to the staff regularly on concerns that they have.

I am happy in the home. I am looked after well and get on well with the staff. I enjoy the meals provided. Often I have health problems, they are quickly dealt with. I enjoy the entertainment provided during the week but would like more trips out.

The home has a Mini Bus which is used on a weekly basis to ensure all residents have a varied choice of outings, our Residents also have a say in what times and where to go.

I haven't been here very long but I have settled in very well. The staff are great and always have time for me if I need any help nothing is a bother. The food is great with plenty of choices. I enjoy the entertainment there is always plenty of things to do. Today we went to a local pub for lunch then
we had a drive to Seaham it was lovely.

I chose this care home for my mother for its light airy appearance. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the nurses available to talk to and down to earth. My mum is well looked after and has settled really well. She enjoys the food and they made her a lovely cake for her 90th Birthday. The
activities are excellent and although she suffers with her memory she loves to join in. Occasionally she ends up in the wrong trousers or top so it would be nice if other residents relatives named their clothes.

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?


“I believe that kind care means being honest, listening and acting on requests.”


Punam has gained over ten years’ experience in providing care and support to older people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Punam joined Ashbourne Lodge as Home Manager because she closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Ashbourne Lodge.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Punam remarked: “I get enormous satisfaction from seeing our Residents well looked after.”


Away from work, Punam enjoys listening to music and socialising with her family and friends.
