Cold Springs Park Care Home

The staff at cold springs and spring lakes (Dementia unit) have been fantastic with both my parents who are here. My Mum recently went through end of life care and passed away and the empathy and care the staff team have shown is amazing. We choose this care home over a year ago, and think they do an excellent job of caring and providing a warm, welcoming environment for residents. They have acted on suggestions made to improve things and provide great to support to residents and families.

Mum came to Cold Springs from Essex in June. It was the best thing we ever organised. The home environment gave mum a new lease of life: From the daily social activities to having her meals with company. There were some settling in issues, but these were dealt with promptly & mum found 99.9% of staff to be kind & caring. That included admin, hostess & maintenance staff. The catering team worked to accommodate mums dietary needs. Her room was clean, light & comfortable with a good on suite. She enjoyed all the communal areas & gardens, which gave ample options to find her spot for the day. As a family we felt included in all aspects of mums life which is what she wanted with the move. Medical needs were addressed promptly & when mum required a hospital admission the staff in attendance were excellent. They supported mums return for end of life care which was provided exemplary. Whilst mums time was unexpectedly short the difference Cold Springs made means we are eternally grateful

My wife and I have no serious issues with any aspects of the care we receive, there is empathy and practical care and support by all the staff. Our en-suite rooms are cleaned and tided every day with fresh towels/linen as required. The laundry services are excellent , used garments removed daily, washed and returned quickly. The common areas, are similarly kept immaculately. All the staff work as a team, they work together to help each other when emergencies inevitably occur. They are all well trained in the practical aspects of care which can sometimes be very challenging. It is done with kindness and often humour. We also enjoy well kept garden areas within and around the home, with a lovely range of flowers and shrubs to admire, and the views over the Lake District fells are spectacular from lounges and garden. Clearly there are issues that could be improved and we have a residents committee that can draw these to the attention of management, who do listen and act within resources.

All very well managed organised - all the staff I've dealt with are especially the carers, senior staff and cleaners they are kind and considerate towards my mothers needs.

Mam has settled in really well since moving into the care home. Staff are very friendly & helpful at all levels, when myself & family visit. The main thing for us that mam is happy, safe & well. With many activities to keep her entertained, loves to listen for tea trolley as all treats & meal are made on site & taste fantastic.

I have found over last year or so the care home does not meet the high standards it quotes upon housing a family member there . The staffing levels are shockingly low and in trained at all levels when you can actually find one often leaving residents long period of times to wait for the toilet . Lack of care is so below standard it's quite saddening . Dressig residents in dirty soiled clothes every time we visit . Lack of cleanses dirty and not cleaned to a high standard .. lack of personal attention when a resident requires special needs or clothing . Lack of professionalism within the management unable to bring any concerns as quite abstruse and rude to say the least . For £1800 a week I would expect a fat higher standard of care that they do not provide and in fact disgusted by the substandard care she receives here I personally wouldn't put my dog here better of walking the streets should be disappointed how they treat our senior citizens hold your heads in shame

Terrible care home lack of care to my grandmother and other residents. Spoke with social worker and the CQC of the terrible standards of this home. The care home are fully aware of the issues I have raised with them via email on numerous occasions.

My granddad also really enjoys the keep fit activity classes!

The staff in the dementia care are absolutely amazing. My father's cognition has declined as the dementia gets worse and I am so grateful that the team are so caring and mindful of all his needs. The seniors work so hard to ensure the residents are treated with patience, kindness and time. The whole team of staff (carers, catering, activities, housekeeping, maintenance and management) care about every individual (however cranky and troubled they can be) and know every resident by name. I can relax and enjoy my time with dad, knowing that he is in very safe hands

Elsie needed to come in for respite. We were struggling, but wow what a great home and staff. Elsie has just turned 100 years and the home went above and beyond. Doing a cake, food etc for the family (so Nana could enjoy). The staff are so very kind and work very hard. Always there to help with a smile. One lady has been so amazing, we went with this home because she was so nice and knowledgable on Nanas needs.

My father moved into Cold Springs about 4 months now, but we had no concerns about him going in as my mother had a previous resident and we were well aware that it is safe and welcoming place for him to be. Yje staff are extremely friendly and professional and he has settled in very quickly.

Absolutely lovely - from the management to the handy man. Nothing is too much trouble. Dad was welcomed with open arms & within days he has settled in. Thank you so much.

Our observations are based on 2 and a half hour visits per week. We find the staff we meet kind and caring. We have no connection regarding fees.

Have been visiting my friend ever since she went to live there. The staff are very friendly and caring. My friend is very happy there and looks much better due to the staff and regular meal times which she enjoys. If the time comes when I can't look after myself I would be happy to live at Cold Springs in Penrith providing there was a vacancy.

I have been visiting a family friend who is a resident in Cold Springs Park for about 2 years, and I have consistently found his care there to be exceptionally good. He is happy there and feels safe and comfortable. The carers are always happy to do their very best to meet his needs. The staff in charge of care are always accessible and happy to discuss how things are going when we visit. The manager and administrative personnel are also visible and helpful, and so easy to approach.

My mother is extremely well looked after. I used to be my mother's carer before she went to live at Cold Springs Park and I know how difficult it can be. I appreciate all that is done for her now.

My mother in law has been a resident at Cold Springs Park for the past 8 years. My experience of the service provided has been excellent. We are kept up to date on all aspects of her care. Any very minor issues are dealt with immediately. The care given from all staff is delivered in a very caring and respectful manner. The food provided is of a very good standard in both quantity and quality. The accommodation is kept very clean. She is always very clean and has clean clothes on. Very pleased all round.

My friend is a resident here. I come to visit fortnightly. They are well cared for. The food always looks good with plenty of choice. He has a nice room which is always clean and tidy. Activities seem to have a good balance.

Always made very welcome. Impressed and various activities. Premises spacious, light and airy.
