Mum recently moved in here. It was a huge change for her. The process of the transition was thoughtful, caring and appropriate for mum, resulting in a safe and stress-free move. Staff then got to know mum quickly and well. I have been impressed and relieved at their patience, attention to details and
the way mum has been treated as an individual rather than institutionalised. The variety of activities and dedication of staff and volunteers is second to none. Thank you.

My Mum in Law has improved greatly since moving into Cold Springs Park Care home. Before she moved in she was insular, now she is joining in and going on outings. The staff are amazing and have really engaged with Mum. Thank you to all the staff at Coldsprings and welcome to the new manager, who is
great.

My husband who was a resident in Spring Lakes (Cold Springs) died in January. His care was exemplary. Everyone was kind, helpful and understanding of his dementia and his last days were made so loving by the staff, who supported the family as well with care.

Mum has settled well and is happy at Cold Springs. She joins in all the activities provided by the dedicated activities coordinator, who is absolutely brilliant. We as visitors are treated exceptionally well and are always made to feel welcome at any time. We are happy with the standard of care she
receives, especially from the senior staff. Highly recommended. Lovely place.

The home has changed hands and there is a new atmosphere among the residents and staff of hope and enjoyment. Residents speak of excellent care and plenty of interesting things happening. The staff couldn't do more to help you. They are interested in their work and relate well to the residents. It is
a real pleasure to conduct church services here!

Overall we are satisfied with the care given to Mother. We were not too happy when she was transferred to Spring Park as we did not think at the time her dementia had progressed far enough to warrant this, however, it probably has now. Mother gets quite frustrated that there is no one apart from staff
that she can have a conversation with. The rooms in Spring Lakes are rather shabbily furnished.

I have used three different care homes within the Penrith area and I have to say this care home is by far the friendliest, caring home my mum has been in for respite.
The care team are so helpful. The manager is so professional, approachable and always at the end of the phone.
Moving forward I will
be only using Cold Springs. The only negative is the activities lady who can be a little rude and always in a rush.
This is my only negative.
Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Cold Springs Park Care HomeThank you for your very kind comments about Cold Springs which I will pass on to the staff. We will also take on board your comment about the activity staff and improve this area.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.355)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.355) out of 10 for Cold Springs Park Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.355 for Cold Springs Park Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (175 Excellents x 5) + (54 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (21 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 265 Ratings = 4.355
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cold Springs Park Care Home is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
