We find all the carers and nurses very helpful and kind. Our mum seems to enjoy the food and everywhere is kept neat and tidy.

An overall improvement since Cold Springs has been taken over by HC-One (not before time). The atmosphere has changed for the better, public areas are brighter and cleaner. What a pity this doesn't get a mention in the local papers. All too ready to condemn, never giving praise when there is a marked improvement all round.

I am the pastoral care coordinator for St Andrew's Church Penrith and over 2017 (and into 2018) I have visited the home every month. I find the management very helpful and doing a good job, as do the nursing staff with the residents and their care. I am aware some residents do present difficulties but they are dealt with by compassion and dignity. The home and rooms are clean and I find the staff amenable to the approaches I make.

Mum has been a resident here for over five years.

We love the place, the care is exceptional and the environment light and airy. The only "area of difficulty" at the moment is that as mum doesn't have dementia, she needs a lot of intellectual stimulation (even though she doesn't remember it) so more activities please. Otherwise, every aspect of the facility is wonderful.

Overall Experience
My father suffered a brain injury following a fall at home. On discharge from hospital, his mental capabilities were quite limited so he needed respite and rehabilitation in a care home, with the final goal being to return home. Initially, dad was placed in the secure dementia ward which was very distressing for him, due to the other residents' behaviour.

He was moved into normal residential area after a few weeks with his cognitive function improved - 2 weeks later has returned home and continues to improve. The care and homely surroundings of Cold Springs were exemplary. The only thing lacking were facilities for ongoing cognitive therapy such as a kitchen area.

My mother has been in this home for the past 15 months. She has, since entering this home improved dramatically she has put on weight and stimulated by the activities in which she participated each day.

I have been working here as a volunteer since November 2015 and everything I have seen here so far has been excellent. The residents I have spoken to seem to enjoy staying here and there is always a range of activities for them to do. The staff are all very friendly to both residents and visitors and are always happy to help with anything requested. I would definitely recommend Cold Springs to anyone who needs a care home.

Overall Experience

Both my father and father-in-law are in this home, my father-in-law has been here for last 3 years and the care in Spring Lakes has been excellent so when the time came for my father to go into residential care I had no qualms about getting him into Cold Springs. The level of care is excellent staff attentive both to residents and family, nothing is too much trouble. I am always updated if there are any issues, staff are very approachable, from maintenance, cooks, cleaners and carers they are always friendly and I cannot recommend this home enough. I do think the cost is very expensive compare to homes in other areas.

My experience of the home has been varied since I first started volunteering but always enjoyable. Being involved in group activities such as scrabble and quizzes with the residents gave one a great insight into the community feel the home brings with no tensions. I also have worked on a more personal and individual basis which has allowed me to understand more about the residents and their feelings about the home which have always been positive. Overall volunteering at Cold Springs has been a great experience for myself and the staff have always been extremely helpful.
