We were delighted with the respite care provided for my Mother-in-law. This is our first experience of a care home and we think it provided all the support our family member needed following her operation. The food and beverages provided were super. The staff are very loving and really do treat the residents like family members. For many, it is a job but you see a real understanding of each resident's needs. We also felt part of the extended family which was lovely. If I could recommend two things - more frequent baths/showers and better-organised washing of clothes.

My mam moved into Winters Park Care Home in March 2023. The staff are very thoughtful and caring, as my mam's ability is very limited. She enjoys the food and the activities, especially bingo and the puzzle sheets. The laundry is well cared for.

I recently visited Winters Park Care Home, Penrith to provide entertainment with our ukulele group. We had such a lovely time that I wanted to share my experience. Every member of staff greeted us with a smile. They were all so positive, friendly and welcoming. I noticed how they treated every resident with kindness and respect. The whole place has a happy vibe and they even have a resident dog, Vinny. He was extremely well trained and calm. I think he even enjoyed our music! I understand the food is very good here, so all in all, I left with a very positive feeling about Winters Park and look forward to visiting again soon.

What a friendly happy place!

My friend was settled and happy on my visit, and I was impressed by the atmosphere and the care given by the staff. Nothing was too much trouble, I met the manager and staff who were all very helpful. Hopefully staying for lunch on my next visit as was offered by a lovely member of staff.

I visited a family friend for the first time in January 2023 and was so impressed with the home. The place was lovely, warm and welcoming, the residents all seemed happy and stimulated, and the staff were welcoming and engaging. My visit lasted about two hours, and in that time, we were offered refreshments, a game of table tennis, took part in a quiz and were shown around by our friend and the staff. I was particularly impressed with the homely feel of my friend's en-suite room and the attention to detail; the colouring pencils on offer were good quality and sharp! It is these things that make a difference in the quality of life for our most vulnerable. I only wish my own mother-in-law had had the same experience for the last 18 months of her life recently. This is a great example of how the care sector should be! Looking forward to visiting again.

My grandmother was treated with kindness and respect when she stayed for respite at Winters Park. The staff are very friendly, does not feel like a care home, but more of a proper home. The manager was very helpful with my constant enquires. Food and activities were much enjoyed by my grandmother. She can't wait to come back!

I am very happy with Winters Park. All the staff are lovely, and one lady has been more than helpful. I found my mum coming into the home very stressed but put at ease as soon as I came to look around. My mum is happy and well looked after. She loves the food and all the staff who show her a lot of kindness, care and support.

We have been so impressed with the care and respect given to our relative, she has been treated with kindness by every single member of the home.

As a result, she has settled and feel safe and secure where as at home she was anxious and lonely. for us as a family we have peace of mind knowing she is here, closer to us with friends, activities and support twenty four hours a day. I only wish we hadn't struggled so long at home, and would advise anyone in the same position to see the positives of a good care home.

There have been numerous instances of me catching staff being kind and caring towards my mum i.e. they don't know I was there. This assures me the staff are making Mum's care the number one priority. There is plenty of staff; always someone who will help. I made the right choice in Winters Park - I trust the team to care for my mum 100%.

I cannot comment on the food and drink as my husband has poor communication. He is a young 72-year-old and I don't think there were many activities for him, which is why the value for money is poor.

My husband has been in the care home since September 2021 and during the time he has been there, it has been under Covid lockdown rules. This has been difficult to adjust to and hasn't given me a fair opportunity to assess the home adequately. I have put the activities as poor but that has been because of lockdown, residents haven't been able to mix freely with each other and visitors. I know that the staff have been able to improve this situation.

My father went to Winters Park after a stay in hospital over Christmas and New Year, to recuperate. At 92 he was still living alone. After discussion with him on day 5 he agreed to stay longer and get stronger before returning home. With all his family living out of the area this was a huge relief to us, finally he admitted he needed care, eating properly etc.
8 months on he is still there, thankfully, especially during this pandemic. It’s his home now, he loves it. His words from a very astute, intelligent man are, 'I have everything I need here, it’s a 5* hotel. Everything done for me. Food top-notch, staff are absolutely wonderful and caring, I want for nothing.'
Praise indeed from a very independent man! From the family, we can sleep at night knowing he is been so well looked after, even to him enjoying his odd glass of wine.

Well done to all the team at Winters Park, you work so hard especially in these uncertain times. Definitely recommended.

Couldn’t recommend Winters Park more.
Before my mam became a permanent resident she spent several respite periods at Winters Park and on each occasion, she was treated with great dignity, care and made to feel part of the home family.
Since becoming a permanent resident she has settled in and the care for her and her dementia has been great. Although we would prefer her not to be in a home, dementia is a cruel disease that doesn’t discriminate against anyone, knowing she is safe, well and happy makes the situation bearable, Winters Park has given us this.

It has been hard during COVID but Winters Park have coped well and knowing how well they are looking after my mam has given great peace of mind. They have tried to do regular FaceTime chats which we have appreciated. Overall very happy with Winters Park, my mams new home.

It is always difficult coming to terms with when a relative can no longer be in their own home. It is therefore reassuring to find somewhere like Winters Park that can care for your relative as you do. The size of the home is not too big and has different areas for the resident's needs. The staff are caring, approachable and professional. Myself and my family have been visiting the home for over 2 years now and have always been happy with the home and the way it has continued to improve the resident's surroundings, care and experience. They have regular meetings and always striving to improve resident's care. This includes their surroundings inside and in the garden, entertainment and including the wider community so as not to feel isolated (pre-Covid).

This review is of course at a very difficult time in everyone’s lives. COVID-19 has brought huge challenges to the care of the elderly in care homes.
We can not thank enough the management and staff of Winters Park for their care commitment and diligence throughout this time.
They have provided the love and affection that we have not been able to.

They have provided the means to communicate at a time when we aren’t able to visit ... They give us peace of mind ... They are amazing individuals .... Our mother loves you too.
