The staff are kind, patient, and genuinely caring. They treat residents with dignity and respect and always take the time to listen. Communication with family members is good, and nothing ever feels like too much trouble.
The home is always clean and well maintained. Communal areas, rooms, and bathrooms
are kept to a high standard, which is reassuring and creates a pleasant environment for residents and visitors alike.
The level of care is excellent. My mum's individual needs are clearly understood and met, and she is treated as a person, not just a resident. Staff are attentive, professional, and compassionate at all times.
Meals are varied, nutritious, and well presented. Residents are offered choices, and dietary needs are catered for. My mum enjoys the food and is encouraged to eat and drink well.
The rooms are comfortable, homely, and well equipped. They are kept tidy and feel personal rather than clinical

Mum arrived in March this year and settled in straight away! Everyone knew her by name almost instantly. I can't praise The Grange highly enough: clean, caring, entertaining + good communication with families. Every family member or friend that has visited says what a lovely place it is and comment
how happy she is. Her own good sized room with an en-suite and wide corridors for her walker - what's not to love!

Friendly and competent staff with an overriding feeling of "care" emanating from the staff towards all of the residents.
Mum is certainly being looked after with good activities and interaction for her. All good and, as a family, we are reassured that mum is being looked after both empathetically
and professionally.
I have given full marks for value for money rather than "I don't know"; all care is expensive but also, how do you put a value on a "loved ones" care, you can't. Providing they are happy and well cared for then that has to be value for money as far as myself and family are concerned; we are happy for mum to be a resident and part of the The Grange family.

My 89 year father has only been a resident at The Grange for four days, following a few months in hospital and a short stay in another care home. The week before he moved to The Grange we all had serious concerns that he had given up on life and despite all our efforts, he would not leave his bed, preferring
to sleep the days away. After only these four days at The Grange, my father has returned to his happy old self. The manager and her team have truly been amazing in motivating my father into engaging with other residents, taking pride in himself again and in just enjoying life again. My family and I can't thank the manager and her team enough for the amazing care they have already taken of my father and making sure his first week has been such a success.

My husband has been in this care home for 1 1/2 years and I am very happy with his treatment and care. His carers are kind and they do their best to make each and every resident as comfortable as possible. My husband can be extremely difficult and they are patient and take time to help and reassure
him. The carers in this home need medals for their love and care.

My husband was in The Grange Care Home for approximately 2-and-a-half years. He was very happy and content from first going in, never questioning why he was in there. The staff were all lovely and caring, from management to all the staff. We had our little differences but overall we were happy and my
husband was content which helped me a lot, especially in his final days.

Mam was referred to The Grange Care Home after being hospitalised. It had become apparent that she was no longer capable of looking after herself. The staff at The Grange have made her so welcome and the attention to detail for personal care is 100%. The staff and management are so friendly and pleasant,
always smiling and creating a lovely atmosphere in the home. They are also always available to answer any questions family members may have. The rooms and facilities are very clean and the home has plenty of well-organised rooms for residents and their visitors to relax. The food is excellent, with plenty of choice and drinks are always available. There are regular activities and sometimes live singers. All in all, I can now sleep at night, knowing that Mam is safe and secure and coming to no harm.

Mam initially went into The Grange Care Home temporarily after a three week hospital stay as she was unable to care for herself. After further assessment the decision was made that it would be safer for her to become a permanent resident. This decision was made far easier for our family as The Grange
offers a very caring atmosphere for both residents and relatives. Although mam was distressed at this decision a member of staff realised what was happening and dealt compassionately with the situation. Both management and carers are to be commended at this care home and I feel real peace of mind knowing that my mum is being so well cared for.

My sister has been a resident at The Grange for six months. She has dementia. I'm so pleased to have found a care home for my sister where I know she is safe and happy. The Grange is, in my opinion, a really excellent care home, especially for dementia residents. The facilities and surroundings are
well adapted for dementia patients and the staff are caring and friendly. They go to great lengths to make the surroundings attractive and stimulating. I visit my sister most days for a quick visit with her dog and we always feel welcome.

My 95-year-old dad has now been resident at The Grange for almost 18 months. His health has been up and down but at all times he is treated with the utmost care and respect by the staff who go out of their way to make Dad feel at home. As we his family live quite some distance away we are not able to
visit quite as often as we would like. However, we do keep in touch with regular video and phone calls and staff are always happy to facilitate these to keep up regular communication, which is so important. Thank you to the manager and her staff for all they do for our dad, which is very much appreciated.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.621)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.621) out of 10 for The Grange Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 33 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.621 for The Grange Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (263 Excellents x 5) + (98 Goods x 4) + (24 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 385 Ratings = 4.621
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Grange Care Home is based on 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 74 registered maximum number of service users is 14.8, which has been reached with 33 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
