Llys Cyncoed has a Review Score of 9.9 (9.882) out of 10, based on 19 reviews in the last 2 years.
Over all time Llys Cyncoed has 99 reviews.
The carers are always very warm and helpful whilst also being thoroughly professional.
Llys Cyncoed is a lovely environment, reminiscent of an upmarket hotel, and the facilities are excellent - they even catered for us in a private dining room when we held a small Christmas party there.
Mum considers herself very fortunate to be at Llys Cyncoed, and we would heartily recommend it to anyone considering a move to a care home.
Thank you so much for writing this lovely review, we are delighted that your Mother is here with us and she and your family are so happy!
My parents moved together to Llys Cyncoed three years ago. From my very first visit to view the home I have been struck with the warm welcome in the large, bright and beautifully decorated reception area. From here the communal areas, corridors and residents rooms are equally light, comfortable, well appointed and kept super-clean. My parents brought some of their own furniture, some was provided. Every effort is made to ensure the residents are as content and comfortable as possible with a wide variety of activities and entertainment available if wanted. My parents enjoyed a number of outings in the minibus.
The staff, whatever their role, are kind, respectful, professional and thoughtful towards the residents and their families. Nothing is too much trouble. This was demonstrated recently in the care provided to my mother in her final days and my father before that.
I have never regretted choosing Llys Cyncoed as a home for my parents.
All best wishes to you and your family
As a Cardiff resident myself, I had become aware of the very high standard of care and accommodation offered at Llys Cyncoed, and I was fortunate to secure a room for my mother two months ago. The building, common areas, rooms, food and recreational activities are all top class. Most importantly, so are all the staff.
Despite being a rather private person, and having lived in comfort and privacy in her own house for many decades, Mum is totally happy at Llys Cyncoed. It is difficult to see how the combination of care, comfort, privacy and professionalism could be improved upon: it has the feel and atmosphere of a large and very happy family-- congratulations to the staff.
Thank you so much for writing this wonderful review! We are delighted that you and your family are so pleased with everything, and it is an absolute joy to have your Mother staying here with us.
I can't recommend Llys Cyncoed enough. Go and check it out for yourselves, you won't be disappointed
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a beautiful review. We all miss your family and send you all love and best wishes for the future, and don't forget to call in for coffee! x
The staff at all levels, throughout this period, have always been very kind, caring, friendly, approachable, supportive and professional.
They provide a safe and secure environment, always with a welcoming and happy atmosphere.
The building is impressive and the facilities are excellent.
There are daily entertainment activities, regular trips out and in-house hairdressers.
The social areas are excellent, with coffee/ tea/ snacks downstairs and an upstairs lounge for activities/ films, etc.
The food is generally excellent, with a varied menu and a choice of bespoke items.
Recently, the staff arranged a lovely birthday celebration for her wider family and friends, which was excellent.
I would highly recommend Llys Cyncoed for anyone considering a care home.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this lovely review.
The staff have been so attentive every since and treat her with such dignity and kindness. The warmth between carers and residents is heart warming and mum settled immediately which gave me the peace of mind I need at such a pivotal point. I couldnt be more grateful and would highly recommend them
Thank you so much! We really appreciate your lovely feedback.
After a period of respite Mum made the decision herself to stay on permanently at Llys Cyncoed and luckily a lovely room was available. She was finding life at home, by herself, very lonely and managing daily tasks was definitely becoming very challenging for her. This decision was not an easy one to make. It's 6 months on now and we are so very pleased at how Mum has settled in. All of the members of the care team are always welcoming, warm and friendly. They are kind, incredibly caring and very supportive of Mum and the rest of the family. We now enjoy quality time with Mum knowing that she is safe and secure with a professional team of people who have her very best interests at heart. Thank you all!!
Thank you so much for taking the time and writing this lovely review of us! We are delighted that you are so happy and it is a pleasure to be able to care for your Mother.
My good friend has recently passed on due to stage 4 Pancreatic cancer and was in hospital for at least a month back in April 2025. During this ordeal we started to look for alternative care options for him and narrowed our choice down to two care homes in Cardiff. We took my friend round both and he immediately settled on Llys Cyncoed Care home in Cardiff, where he remained for the next 4-months until his death on 28 October 2025. Adrian's stay at Llys Cyncoed was fairly brief, but the care he received was exceptional and as far as he could, given his circumstances, he enjoyed his time at the home. The staff were magnificent throughout .... especially toward the end, when it was particularly 'harrowing' for us to visit as friends and family, but equally challenging for the staff looking after him. I cannot thank them enough for the care and attention they all showed my friend and the dignity he was able to maintain right to the end.
Thank you so much for writing this heartfelt review of us, we are very grateful for your kind words
I cannot recommend Llys Cyncoed highly enough. From initial enquiries to the outstanding level of care received during a particularly difficult time. The care team became friends and the level of assistance and compassion shown was second to none. Everyone there is treated as an individual with their particular needs, likes and dislikes catered for as closely as possible. From personal experience I can say that the staff went over and above what could have been expected, not only for the resident, but for friends/family also. The home is beautifully appointed, with many large social rooms and an exquisite dining room and gardens. There are numerous activities and trips organised for anone who wishes to take part. But above all, what shines through is the dedication, compassion and friendliness of all of the people, in whatever capacity, that work there. Thanks to all of you - for taking such wonderful care of my relative - and for the great kindness and care that you also showed to me.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review, and thank you so much for your very kind words.
We visited many before choosing and we are so glad we made it our choice.
From the start of this difficult journey the staff have gone above and beyond in supporting us with mum and their attention to detail is excellent.
Extremely homely, excellent food, daily entertainment and activities, outstanding staff, very welcoming and mum is made to feel so comfortable and safe.
Would definitely recommend Llys Cyncoed and would like to thank all staff for making us feel at home.
Thank you so much for leaving this wonderful review! The journey into seeking care for a loved one can be so difficult and we are delighted that you chose us and are so happy with everything
A massive thank you to all at Llys Cyncoed for the exceptional level of care and support given to my parents over the last five years. I cannot praise the team highly enough for the loving and welcoming environment they create for residents and their visitors. Accommodation, facilities and housekeeping are all to a very high standard and the quality of food is excellent. There are numerous social activities and trips for those who wish to participate but there is no pressure to join in for those who prefer to live more independently. The team frequently go the extra mile to fulfil the preferences of individual residents and adapt to their changing needs. My parents came to regard many of the staff as friends and I was always grateful for the support provided to me as a family member and the welcome I was offered whenever I called in or visited. I have nothing but praise for the staff and would not hesitate to recommend Llys Cyncoed to prospective residents and their families.
Thank you so much for writing this wonderful review of us, and it was a pleasure to have been able to care for your wonderful parents.
The ambience, food and facilities are excellent. IT's expensive but the extra cost over the other other facilities available in the area is , if it can be afforded , well worth while.
What a truly fantastic care home. We are thrilled that our family member has settled so well and that is truly down to the dedication of all staff members. Everyone contributes to make the residents and families feel that Llys Cyncoed is genuinely a home from home. Of course the building is superb but it's the people who make this place so special. I would have no hesitation in recommending Llys Cyncoed to anyone. You really do go the extra mile, a huge thank you to you all. If family members are considering a care home, Llys Cyncoed is a definite, you will not be disappointed.
Thank you so much for taking the time and writing this beautiful review for us. We are delighted that the family are all so pleased with everything that we do.
We couldn't have found a nicer care home for Mum. It's like moving in with a big friendly family! Mum's been here for a year now and there's always plenty to do every day from puzzles, number games, bingo, flower arranging, cinema and even in-house singers and musicians every week. Mum especially enjoys trips out on the minibus and still gets in some retail therapy at the shops every so often! Mum's made lots of friends, enjoys nutritious homemade food and makes use of the lovely garden. The staff at all levels at Llys Cyncoed are very professional, friendly and approachable, nothing is too much trouble, their priority is the resident's happiness. The social areas are perfect, open plan but split into a Bistro area for coffee and cakes, the parlour for TV and relaxing and the restaurant where tables are beautifully dressed and an upstairs room also used for activities and to watch films. There's a family room for special occasions but Llys Cyncoed love an excuse to have a party for everyone.
My mother has been in residence for almost a year now. Both the facilities and level of care have been excellent. There are plenty of options with regards to activities, both on and off-site and the ratio of resident to staff means there is someone on hand at short notice to help. The food is generally excellent and the menu is varied, there are also plenty of other options available outside of meal time.
The surroundings, the food, and the atmosphere are truly enabling.
The facilities, environment, food and services offered are exceptional. My mother is a much happier person after only a few weeks in Llys Cyncoed.
My Dad has been a resident at Llys Cyncoed Care home for two years. The staff are totally dedicated and caring. My Dad has Parkinson's and so he requires quite a lot of personal care which I have found to be carried out in a very professional and caring manner. The resident comes first. I have been contacted by the staff immediately when Dad was taken ill and an ambulance was called. Lovely staff stayed with Dad the entire time. I have regular contact about any updates on Dad which is helpful. The staff organise lots of social activities and trips out so there is something for everyone. Dad particularly enjoys the quizzes and giant crossword. There is live sport televised so you never miss out on a game, a Wimbledon final or the Olympics. There is a lovely garden too which Dad has been able to enjoy at times. I can't fault this care home for Dad. I know he is in caring and expert hands so I can rest easy. Thank you to all the great staff at Llys Cyncoed.
We could not have hoped for a better setting for my aunt's residential care. The facilities, food and care provided by all the staff are absolutely first-class, and we are so pleased and grateful that she is in safe hands and being looked after so well. It is a great comfort to see how much you all genuinely care and connect with residents to make them feel at home. Thank you to all at Llys Cyncoed.
Though far away I had video calls set up with no hesitation from staff which was great. I have had the opportunity over the last 12 months to spend quite a lot in there up until my mom's passing (the staff were amazing). Seeing for myself Llys Cyncoed is immaculate from the inside out the decor is outstanding and an atmosphere of warmth. In saying all this it goes much deeper it's the core of which is the staff. They are the most genuine loving and caring that I have met from concierge to management and staff in all departments which for me was the most important factor for which I am deeply thankful. My mom was on the terrace (dementia floor) she was very respected and loved as all other residents. It's a very difficult and emotional time to place a loved one in a home I would highly recommend this care home without any hesitation!

Meet the Team (1)

I have worked in care since 2011 and now hold a level five diploma in health and social care. I have also completed several other courses that have helped me work my way up from care assistant to my current role as home manager.
I chose to work for Care UK specifically because of its commitment to providing person-centred care. As an organisation, it values continuous development, teamwork and compassion. There is also a strong framework of support for anyone who wants to progress in their career.
A good home manager must be highly organised and be genuinely committed to delivering the highest standards of care. Patience, empathy, leadership skills and excellent communication are all equally important.
There are so many highlights to my role, and I take great pride in ensuring Llys Cyncoed is a warm, inclusive and safe environment for residents and colleagues. I feel privileged that I have been promoted to manager in a home where I have grown professionally over the last ten years.
One of my favourite parts of the day is the time I spend with residents. I always make sure to join in the daily anagrams challenge. As well as testing my word-puzzle skills, interacting with residents helps me better understand the support they need.
Taking time to be with residents is also a great reminder of why I chose a career in care, which was to make a positive difference in people’s lives.
Most of my time outside of work is joyfully filled by my two young children. I enjoy reading, going for walks in nature and along the beach. I also have a newly found hobby of buying houseplants.
