In addition, I enjoy being there. The minute you walk through the door you feel welcome and part of a community, thanks to all the staff who contribute to the care home.

Mum has just moved in and we've shared lunch with her. Our waiter has given us five-star service. All in all, so far, everything has been amazing and all the staff, without exception, have been amazing.

My parents initially attended respite care due to their recent ill health. They are being so well looked after and supported and cared for that they have now decided to remain as permanent residents, and are thriving from the care provided. The move from a temporary to permanent resident was conducted by the Home very easily and the family kept informed of the process. It is wonderful that this home allows married couples to stay together as my parents have been together for over 60 years and would not want to be separated. They are in their own room and can also mix with other residents socially. They recently celebrated their wedding anniversary and the home made a lovely celebration for them. The home is providing excellent care for both of them and the family is now less stressed and are more at ease. So it is not only the residents that benefit but also their families as well.

I have found all staff very professional they have gone out of their way to include my mother in the Lys Cyncoed family. They are all very accommodating and nothing is too much trouble for them they make the time to listen to any concerns you have and act upon them. This makes me reassured that my mother is receiving the best care she could possibly have.

We thought we had found a ‘home from home’ for my dad and we haven’t been disappointed. The staff are caring, professional, very knowledgeable about dementia and have gone out of their way to welcome Dad and us as his family.

My mum has been at Llys Cyncoed for nine months now with declining memory due to dementia. The team have been wonderful at supporting her in assisted living and thereby preserving a quality of life that was just not available in other homes - I looked at eleven other care homes across South Wales and none came up to the standard of people, accommodation or pastoral care that Llys Cyncoed provides. The open plan entrance way - with exceptionally high standards of decoration, a bistro with tea, coffee, cakes and snacks always available, television room and always things happening, has meant that Mum can sit there watching the world go by (and let's be honest, being nosy!), doing crosswords with other residents and feeling like she is in the land of the living. I feel that the receptionists are the rock of this home - they all keep an eye on every resident and if Mum is feeling a bit blue - they cheer her up or distract her. Thank you ladies, from the bottom of our hearts.

My father has been in Llys Cyncoed for over two years now, and we have been very pleased with the care he has received. It was a big decision to admit him, but we realise that he has been in the best place for him, and he is very happy there despite his problems.

She is now living her best life possible, and for us, we can at last be sure she is safe and cared for in the most fantastic care home we had the good fortune to find.

My mother has been a resident at Llys Cyncoed for almost four years. During this period, the place has gone from strength to strength - fantastic staff and first-rate care in a wonderful setting. The recent family Christmas party afternoon was a great success. We wouldn't have her living anywhere else.

I would highly recommend Llys Cyncoed due to the quality of the care provided. Relatives are actively encouraged to participate in residents' meetings, and any queries are dealt with quickly.

The home has recently been refurbished and looks really clean and tidy, it is also very welcoming where nothing is too much trouble, from the moment you walk through the door you get the feeling of a very relaxed friendly environment. I want also to call out DCR, from our first meeting she made the family feel very welcome, has given our father the attention he has needed and is a friendly and welcoming face every time you meet her.

I was extremely surprised at the presentation of the display. Everything was so neat and tidy and well presented and clean and very attractive. The residents are fairly friendly but stay in their group.

Lovely staff and great care. Grandad is very happy and settled in Llys Cyncoed. Great communication to family. Lovely facilities and make it home from home.

What a wonderful care home! Llys Cyncoed has the look of a high-class hotel but with the warmth of home. My dad has been a resident there for three weeks and is receiving excellent care. The staff are all, without exception, compassionate and friendly, and treat my father with respect and kindness. Nothing seems too much trouble for them in trying to make my father feel at home. Senior staff are approachable and professional and are always available to chat through any concerns. My dad has a lovely room overlooking the garden, and I appreciate the open-plan ground floor. It means that when dad is not in his bedroom, there is always something to see and people to talk to. Dad has already joined in a few of the many activities which is a triumph in itself as he had not shown any interest in doing much when he was at home. I put that down to improved care, more nutritious food, and plenty of encouragement. I have visited many care homes and I have never experienced one as good as this!

My Nan came to stay at Llys Cyncoed back in March for a month of respite. She had been quite poorly and really struggling with each day. The care she has received from day one from the reception staff, care, catering and management has been unbelievable. So much so, that she is now a permanent resident and is completely back to herself. To know your loved one is happy, safe and so well cared for is something that means so much to me and my family. The personal touch is something that is so noticeable. Not only to the resident but to the family too, the staff really take the time to get to know family members to then keep things familiar. Such a special place.

My wife has been cared for by this establishment for almost five years. Her care is exemplary, the staff always go the extra mile to make sure that she is content despite the challenges that she faces as someone with early onset dementia. If there are any changes to her condition or if an incident occurs I am immediately informed and any proposed action is discussed with me. There is an excellent activity program which seeks to engage residents at whatever level is suitable for them

She has plenty of activities to join in, if she feels like it. There is a lovely garden to sit or wander in and the family are welcomed when they visit. The food is very good - in fact I tell my sister that I shall be joining her when I reach her age!

Staff are wonderful, always helpful and supportive. It would be great to see more and a wider variety of activities that cover more diverse interests, abilities and are more frequent. More trips need to be organised to ensure the residents can go out at least twice a week.
