I would recommend The Rookery to others. My mum has been in The Rookery for 15 years. She is compasmentis and is able to relate well. Her room is cleaned daily and food offered is to suit her needs ie: she has no teeth and is blind, so cut up + soft food + the kitchen provide regular alternatives to
daily menu as she cant chew + dislikes meat. I can phone + speak to her, they pass on messages, they respest her privacy when entry her room with eg: meds. I can convese with staff re her changing needs, they look to ways to adapt ie: different matters
Reply from Rebecca Ray, Manager at The Rookery Care HomeThank you for taking the time to write this review its good to know that mam has been happy here for 15 years and we can accommodate with all her needs

My experience of The Rookery Care Home is soon as you walk in there the staff and carers are all very welcoming and greet you with a smile. They are all so lovely, kind, and very helpful. They can't do enough for you with anything. They all have a long, kind, gentle, caring way with the patients, and
it's lovely to see. When I visit my auntie she is always so happy. The Rookery Care Home is well decorated and clean. The food is lovely, and I have seen the patients always have plenty. It's a wonderful care home with a wonderful atmosphere. Plenty of activities for patients to do every day.

My mother recently passed away at The Rookery - she chose to end her days there and not go into hospital. The staff were respectful to her and very kind to her family. I have no negative remarks to make just kind regards.

My friend loved The Rookery. She thought it was like a 5* Hotel. She was taken into hospital in for few weeks. Her care was not very good, she missed The Rookery her home. When the end of life was put in place. We were so determined to get her home. We finally got her home on Friday evening, she was
so well looked after, comfortable, happy. The care was amazing for her from all staff. She passed away on Tuesday in her happy place.

The care and support given to my sister was excellent. She was very happy at The Rookery for 14 months. The staff were so kind to her and everyone liked her and she liked them. She passed away there and spent her final few days there after leaving a local hospital. So pleased she was at the care home
for her final days. She was very well care for there.
Reply from Rebecca Ray, Manager at The Rookery Care HomeThank you for taking the time to write this review as I know this is a very sad time for you all. We are glad your sister was happy with us and so glad we we able to nurse her until her final days.

After losing my mother last year, it became clear that my father, who has alzeheimers required specialist care and could no longer live at home. My father moved into The Rookery care home December 2024. I cannot thank staff enough for the excellent care given to my father during very confusing times.
I commend their hard work and dedication. The Rookery is like a home from home for my father as a resident but also us as a family. Very warm, welcoming and friendly. Rooms and communal areas are beautifully decorated, comfortable and suit the needs of each resident perfectly. There is a wide choice of food available on the weekly menu. My father thoroughly enjoys his meals and looks forward to the sounds of the tea trolley throughout the day!
Reply from Rebecca Ray, Manager at The Rookery Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time and commenting on our service, as a team we are pleased that your experience has been positive and that dad has settled into his new home and that you are reassured that he is well cared for.

We go to visit my auntie in The Rookery every couple of months because we live in Llanelli. The home is lovely and the staff are very welcoming and very helpful. My auntie seems quite happy there although she has got dementia. She's got a nice room and says the food is very nice.

Our dad had been at The Rookery for a year, as he has recently passed away. I cannot compliment all staff for the part everyone played in making my dads stay wonderful. Dad was so happy and contented and it's all thanks to the kindness and hard work put in by all staff on a daily basis. Always kept
beautifully clean, well fed and everyone always had a smile for him, which I believe is very important. You will never know what a huge difference you made to dads life and to us all as a family!! I will forever be grateful to each and every one of you. Thank you so much
Reply from Rebecca Ray, Manager at The Rookery Care HomeThank you Sarah for taking the time to write a lovely review at such a sad time. My mum has recently been very poorly again and is completely bedbound. Rather than her go into hospital she has been cared for in The Rookery which we appreciate so much. She is kept comfortable, clean and looked after in an exemplary manner. We find comfort in the fact she is treated in this way and
couldn't ask for better. The staff also look after us as a family and for all these reasons we are extremely grateful.
Reply from Rebecca Ray, Manager at The Rookery Care HomeThank you for taking the time to review our service and provide such a lovely review, we try our best to keep residents at home within their surroundings and hospital admission is the last resort. Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.819)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.819) out of 10 for The Rookery Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 56 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 55 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.819 for The Rookery Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (568 Excellents x 5) + (82 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 667 Ratings = 4.819
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Rookery Care Home is based on 55 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 41 registered maximum number of service users is 8.2, which has been reached with 55 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
