We had to make the difficult decision to move my grandmother into the Rookery during the pandemic. We were concerned as to whether we were making the right decision but we should not have been. The staff are like an extension of our family who provide the most dignified, compassionate and loving care to our grandmother, who certainly deserves the best. The communication with the staff has been second to none, and despite the challenges that covid has brought, they have always kept us up to date and aware of when guidance was changing. When we have been allowed in to visit, covid precautions are taken very seriously, however, we have the warmest welcome. My grandmother is always clean, dressed beautifully and care is always taken to make her feel comfortable and looked after. If my grandmother has needed any medical attention, the staff have responded quickly and compassionately ensuring my grandmother’s best interests and health are taken into consideration.

My grandmother has been a resident since November 2021. The whole family have been very impressed and satisfied with the care she has received. We have been kept up to date with any incidents that occur (she's had a few falls, felt unwell, covid outbreaks etc) and they always go above and beyond when we visit my grandmother. The staff are always extremely friendly and my grandmother has no complaints.

Mam spent just over two years as a resident at the Rookery Care Home. Sadly, Mam passed away in October after a short stay in hospital. While Mam lived in the Rookery, she was extremely well looked after, the medical care was also good with GP visits, when needed. During the pandemic and the home being closed to visitors, the staff were always on hand to keep us updated on Mam and we were able to have window and garden visits. The staff regularly contacted us to have Facetime calls with Mam and they have regular activities for the residents. On occasions, when ringing Mam's mobile there was no answer, but a call to the Rookery was always answered and a member of staff would go to Mam's room to sort out her mobile! Overall, myself and our family were very pleased with the care and support that Mam received from all of the staff at the home. The staff really work hard to make it a home from home for the residents.

Thank you for taking the time to review our home at such a sad time. The last year and a half has been very difficult for everyone and we have all worked together to try and make the best of it. It was our pleasure to care for your mam and she is sadly missed. Your positive comments will be shared amongst The Rookery team.

My husband and I both had relatives in this home. In the three years they were there, we found nothing wrong. The staff were always very kind and caring. The entertainment was great. It was so good to see smiley faces on everyone's face. A big thank you to all the staff for their care during the lockdown.

Reply from Rebecca Ray, Manager at The Rookery Care Home

Your feedback is really important to us especially during such a difficult time, we were honoured to care for both of your relatives and thank you, as a family, for being so involved in our activities, prior to lockdown.

The last 15 months have been very difficult with no visitors for my mum. The staff have stepped in to be their family as well as care providers, making sure that she has been looked after and engaged with face time and phone calls. These were greatly appreciated and we are now back to visits which is fab. Thanks to all the staff for looking after my mum so well.

A fantastic friendly care home that provides quality and respectful care. The staff always go above and beyond, they treat the residents as if they were their own family! Nothing is too much trouble and they are always willing to speak and facilitate visits or virtual phone calls. My grandmother always says how well cared for and lovely the staff are every time we speak or see her, that speaks volumes to us as a family. The staff's knowledge and understanding of conditions is outstanding. They really know each and every resident, their likes and dislikes and they care for them in a truly wonderful and understanding manner. As a family we know how well cared for, safe and happy the residents are. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the management and staff really had the best interests and safety of the residents first. Standards and guidelines were adhered to and as a family, we felt confident and comforted by the standard and levels of safety precautions shown. A wonderful home from home care facility!

My mother became a resident at the Rookery Care Home in August 2020. She had a lovely room which was always very clean and tidy. Whenever I visited my mother, she always looked spotlessly clean. The staff were always very welcoming and approachable. They regularly had different types of entertainment for the residents. Medical care was good - the doctor made regular visits and the district nurse. My mother was happy at the home and never complained about her care. Because of Covid restrictions, there was no visiting allowed in the Home but we were allowed Window Visits, FaceTime calls and telephone calls. Overall, myself and my family are very pleased with the care my mother received at the Home. Personally, I think it is the best Care Home in the local area.

This home has been fantastic. They treated my mother with care and dignity. Whenever we phoned the care home, nothing was too much trouble for them. When Mam was having a good day, they would phone us to FaceTime her. We will always be grateful to the care home.

The Rookery is one of her very highly praised facilities. The excellence of the staff have worked tirelessly for the last few years looking after the residents in their care, and especially in the cor. I have nothing but praise for them, nothing is too much trouble. Adapting to conditions by allowing family and friends to FaceTime and telephone the residents is marvellous. I would not hesitate in recommending this establishment to anybody.

Reply from Rebecca Ray, Manager at The Rookery Care Home
Thank you, Ralph, for taking the time to complete a review. It has been a very difficult year with the Pandemic, and we, as a team, acknowledge that it is has been extremely hard for families not being able to see their loved ones, so felt the least we could do is to try and maintain the virtual communication.

Your feedback is much appreciated.

As a son, I struggled at first with my mother's illness, noting was good enough, and I argued with mostly everyone. The staff were very understanding, very supportive and empathetic. Without their commitment and care, I really don't think how I would have coped. I can't thank them enough for making my mother's final year with this terrible disease comfortable and safe; truly amazing people who deserve so much credit. Thank you Rookery staff, I will always appreciate your unbelievable support and care.

My mum was in the home for just over 2 years, we were very happy with the majority of aspects of the home and she settled very well. Obviously this year has been very tough and we lost Mam on the 1st July (she was 98). I would like to mention the deputy, who goes over and beyond her job, also the lady who does the social side, as my mum was very fond of her. I would like to thank all the staff for their kindness in the last week of Mam's life. Also, special mention to one particular carer, he was very good and caring.

My mother left The Rookery to go into a nursing home as she needed one to one care. it was very sad for us all as The Rookery staff were like a "second family" to us. My mother was only there for 6 months, however, over that time her care was second to none. It was a very sad day when she left. Thank you all.

The care and love given to my mother during her short stay at The Rookery was extraordinary, the staff went over and above to ensure Mam had everything she required. Family members were made welcome as soon as they entered the home. I can't praise the home and staff enough. I highly recommend The Rookery, Mam thoroughly enjoyed her time there.

All the staff are dedicated and do their utmost to get to know the residents. During my mother's stay, they all made her feel welcome and she soon started to join in with activities. While my mother's health deteriorated, all the staff were very supportive of us and her and kept us informed. I am so glad my mother spent her last days at The Rookery.

We are very happy with the care our mother receives. She has only been at The Rookery a short time, but all staff have welcomed her, taking care of her every need sensitively. They provide a variety of activities and take time to interact with Mum, which has helped her settle with the change. Staff are also supportive and very helpful towards family members, reassuring and keeping us up to date. Thank you to The Rookery for helping to make a painful time for us as a family more bearable.
