My mother recently passed away but in her 18 months living at Church View she was exceptionally well cared for and truly considered it her home. The very high standards of are and genuine nature of care staff made this a home where mum felt safe, comfortable and looked after.

He was not shaved or showered often enough. His room was not cleaned properly sometimes. My husband was sent to hospital without a carer escorting him. It was specifically requested that he be accompanied by a carer, as a family member was unavailable. It was not made clear that he would be looked after when he got to the hospital. There was a lack of communication which caused anxiety.

My mother has been a resident at Church View Care Home from 1st October 2024. She is very frail and has difficulty in walking. I am convinced that her life has been enhanced in terms of quality and longevity by the wonderful care given by the Church View staff. She looks forward to all of the activities despite her disabilities preventing her from fully participating. She really loves her carers and treats them as dear friends. Such wonderful patient and hard-working people.

I have visited Church View 5 times in the last 12 or so weeks and from my first visit through to my fifth have found the care home staff really friendly, open and caring. My friend is not my father but if he was I would be happy that he is there. I visit another two friends who are in the care home environment and I can honestly say out of the three homes I visit this appears to be number one. As you can see by the ratings I have put satisfactory for value for money as to the cost of my friend's care.

I attended Church View for respite care following a full hip replacement. Care, food, and support were excellent. I enjoyed my stay for nearly one month. July - August 2024.

I am back home and live on my own. I feel the staff all communicate well therefore care at Church View is very good.

The staff are very helpful and caring. The rooms are clean and well looked after and Mam says the bed is very comfortable. The food is sometimes hit or miss for my mother but the staff ensure she does eat.

My husband has been here for five months. He has a nice room, in which he is comfortable, especially his bed. He likes the food, and the staff are very nice to him. I wish there was more interaction between him and the staff. The staff are so busy, there's not much they can do to help pass the time away for him. They are always on the move and never have time to chat much with the residents, which is quite sad. They are always short-staffed, which is wrong for the staff and residents.

The staff are very friendly and attentive and have looked after Mum well. Mum has particularly enjoyed the daily activities, she has knitted for the first time in many years.
Mum has enjoyed the meals, especially not having to cook, and even better not wash up.

The rooms not having an individual W.C. is a slight downside, but more than offset by the positives.

My Mother is very happy at Church View, we were very concerned about Mum managing in her flat. We couldn't be happier now she is here and safely cared for. Mum is happy the majority of the time. She suffers from depression and staff always manage to treasure her and work through things.

Grandma is extremely happy at Church View. There is always so much for her to do. Groups, singers, and children from local schools. Myself and my children are always made to feel so welcome. We can have dinner with Grandma and it is a pleasure to come here. The majority of staff are extremely supportive and are happy to make time and make us feel welcome.

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?

“Kind care means getting to know people and understanding their emotions, making every effort to offer the best possible care, and getting Residents involved in the activities that make them happiest.”

Christine started working at sister HC-One care home Abermill in 2001, and later progressed to Home Manager level after excelling in her role as Deputy Manager at the home. She has gained experience in a number of different care services, including residential and memory care, and has achieved qualifications in health and social services, management and care.

Christine closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that means they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.

When asked what she enjoys the most about her role, Christine remarked: “I enjoy taking time to interact with Residents and their Relatives, which allows me to get to know each individual on a personal level.”

Christine credits her biggest achievement as completing a 3km sponsored walk, raising more than £400 for Alzheimer’s Society, with the support of her Colleagues and Residents.

Outside of work, Christine enjoys spending quality time with her loved ones, including watching her niece and nephews play rugby.

If you would like to find out more information about Church View, Christine has an ‘Open Door Policy’ and would be pleased to welcome you for an informal discussion.
