Larkfield View Care Home is situated in a fantastic location close to the town of Greenock and the picturesque Gourock seafront. The purpose-built home is equipped to provide nursing care to residents over the age of 65 and for those with dementia-related conditions.

All 90 bedrooms have bright and spacious single bed accommodation with en-suite facilities for privacy and convenience. In addition, each unit within the home has its own lounge and dining facilities where residents can enjoy home cooked meals and afternoon tea with family and friends.

The home runs a varied activities programme, which includes some fantastic day trips and a yearly holiday to Largs; the charming seaside resort on the west coast of Scotland.

Peace and quiet can also be enjoyed in the attractive terraced courtyard and sensory garden area surrounding the home.

Elsie MacLennan, the Service Manager at Larkfield View recently won the ''Care Home Registered Manager of the Year" for the North West region at the Great British Care Awards 2017, and is also through to the 2018 National Finals.

My father has been a resident for one year ten months and I have been very satisfied with his care so far.
However, in January, my father's health deteriorated to the extent that we thought he might pass away. During this difficult time, the care home staff were most supportive, kind, generous and
made what was an awful time for us much easier to deal with.

My family have had relatives in Larkfield View for over 8 years now on all 3 floors.
We have absolute confidence in the staff and the daily care my Gran receives.
We each all visit at different times on a daily basis and love the care and affection that is shown to my Gran.

As anyone will tell you, placing a loved one in care is one of the hardest things in life to have to face. The situation my Father is in forced our hand and we reluctantly agreed that he be put into the care of the Larkfield View Care home in Greenock back in August 2018.
We visited the home prior
to his admission to see what it was like and were immediately impressed with the surroundings. The facility was much more modern than we had dared to expect and was fresh, clean, bright and looked very comfortable.
We were also impressed with the attitude of the staff from the manager at the top of management through all of the care staff likely to be looking after my Father.
Since my Father took up residence, the staff have been wonderful and have a real talent for caring for him and his fellow residents. I often visit at random times on varied days and always find him comfortable, happy, well dressed and groomed. He can’t hold much of a conversation but tells me he is happy there and is being well looked after and it is all down to the hard work and happy disposition of his care team, which really needs to be recognized somehow by those in authority.
We know how difficult it was to care for him at home and even with multiple visits from mobile care and our involvement, it wasn’t enough and he is now receiving the very best of care thanks to the manager and her team!

My husband enjoys living in Larkfield View. The staff are very good with him. He loves the music they have, likes a wee dance with the carters. His personal care is extremely good and very clean. The only problem I would say is the loss of clothing as the names come off.

My aunt has just celebrated her 100th birthday. The staff gave her, her friends and relatives, the most amazing day. I would never have believed such wonderful care and love would be shown in a care home.
Visitors and patients alike are shown much kindness and a lovely welcome when entering the home.
My
aunt is bedridden but always very cosy and comfortable.

Emergency respite was provided to my mum after her flat was flooded. From the outset, my mother was made to feel most welcome. Staff were friendly, professional and made every effort to ensure my mother's needs were met.
I was provided with a telephone number for the home to provide contact and all
enquiries have been answered in full and promptly.
My mother tells me she loves the food and would like to come back to Larkfield View if she has to have respite in the future.

My mum has been in this care home for 2 years now, everything is good. Food could do with having more variety as it's the same every week. Staff are amazing. The decor is nice but the dining room is very dated and needs to be freshened up. The carpet in the corridor needs to be renewed as it has worn
out and looks terrible. Other than this, it's a great, clean, friendly home. No concerns whatsoever.

No one wants to put their loved ones into care. But despite the excellent services and care my mum received, the day came she needed 24/7 supervision and was no longer safe in her own home.
Nearly 7 years on and I am delighted to say that Larkfield View was definitely the right decision for my mum.
She has not only had the excellent medical care and attention she requires, but has so much fun meeting new friends, and taking part in all the activities and day trips provided by the excellent staff.
Larkfield View Care Centre is one big family, run by excellent staff who take pride in their vocation! No matter the job title, the staff here work together as a team, and show great patience and dignity towards all their residents.

The care home has provided high-quality care for my mother since March 2017. The staff are committed, friendly and helpful in supporting both mum and visitors. Due to a family bereavement, it was advised that we should consider our aunt for a nursing home due to advanced stages of dementia.

My dad is happy, content and well looked after. He enjoys playing the piano and this is accommodated within the unit.


He has his own things around him to remind him of the things he used to do.

After losing my dad, I was unable to look after mum due to a decline in her dementia. I can't thank the staff enough for all the support shown to not only mum but also me. Mum has come on heeps since being here all thanks to a wonderful staff team.

I have nothing but praise for the staff and management of this care home! It is a difficult task to look after so many residents with various forms of dementia and mobility problems. My mother has been a resident in Larkfield View Care Centre since 2008. In my experience with all staff over the years of care for Mum, I have not come up against any problems. Staff are always polite and friendly. They make me and my family feel very welcome at all times. I am always informed if Mum
is not well whether its a chest infection or other medical problems. The doctor is phoned promptly. I am happy with Mum's care in Larkfield View. My father was also in the home and the same applied to Dad, who is now no longer with us.

Elsie

Elsie MacLennan

Job Title: Service Manager Joined: 2012

Elsie has over 20 years experience working for the NHS providing care and support to both younger adults with a physical disability and older adults within an assessment and rehabilitation unit. During this time she was also a part time lecturer at Reid Kerr College teaching basic nursing skills.


Elsie joined the private sector 14 years ago where she managed a care home, which was recognised for the quality of care delivered and achieving excellent grades from the Care Commission. She joined the Team at Larkfield View in December 2012 as Service Manager.
