My brother-in-law has settled well into the home and the staff work hard to give them variety and keep them busy, especially during this pandemic. My only criticism is the difficulty in getting hold of the Garval Unit by phone to check on how my brother-in-law is. My sister-in-law has spent full afternoons/evenings
trying to get through which can be upsetting/frustrating especially with everything going on currently. She does receive updates at times and Facetime but is not always aware if they are happening for sure or when. My brother-in-law seems settled and is participating much more in activities due to the hard work of the staff, he is very well looked after and my sister-in-law is alerted re any issues. I have had to mark security low as my brother-in-law did manage to get out last year. Thank you.

The love and care my mother has received during her stay at Larkfield View has been outstanding. The staff go above and beyond to ensure the residents are treated like members of their own families. During these difficult times, they somehow have managed to keep our spirits up and reassured us. I can’t
thank them enough. They are angels.

My mum was a resident here for 18months until her death in April 2020. I was so glad she was here, the staff were warm and welcoming and so kind to all their residents, an absolute credit to their profession and I can't thank them enough for the love and care shown to my mum and us.

The overall care experience in the home is excellent. Nothing is ever too much for the staff. It has a totally "at home" feel to the home. I would actually liken Larkfield View to a 5-star hotel in regards to the care and attention my father receives. I was initially worried when my father had to go
into a care home and I can honestly say he has settled in so well and absolutely loves the staff.

I would recommend Larkfield View to anyone. The staff are friendly and go the extra mile. My Gran has made lots of friends and is encouraged to take part in different activities. She says the food is great too when she was at home she wasn't eating very much at all.

My father has been a resident for one year ten months and I have been very satisfied with his care so far.
However, in January, my father's health deteriorated to the extent that we thought he might pass away. During this difficult time, the care home staff were most supportive, kind, generous and
made what was an awful time for us much easier to deal with.

My family have had relatives in Larkfield View for over 8 years now on all 3 floors.
We have absolute confidence in the staff and the daily care my Gran receives.
We each all visit at different times on a daily basis and love the care and affection that is shown to my Gran.
We would recommend to
all people who are considering their loved ones being housed here.

As anyone will tell you, placing a loved one in care is one of the hardest things in life to have to face. The situation my Father is in forced our hand and we reluctantly agreed that he be put into the care of the Larkfield View Care home in Greenock back in August 2018.
We visited the home prior
to his admission to see what it was like and were immediately impressed with the surroundings. The facility was much more modern than we had dared to expect and was fresh, clean, bright and looked very comfortable.
We were also impressed with the attitude of the staff from the manager at the top of management through all of the care staff likely to be looking after my Father.
Since my Father took up residence, the staff have been wonderful and have a real talent for caring for him and his fellow residents. I often visit at random times on varied days and always find him comfortable, happy, well dressed and groomed. He can’t hold much of a conversation but tells me he is happy there and is being well looked after and it is all down to the hard work and happy disposition of his care team, which really needs to be recognized somehow by those in authority.
We know how difficult it was to care for him at home and even with multiple visits from mobile care and our involvement, it wasn’t enough and he is now receiving the very best of care thanks to the manager and her team!
Reply from Elsie MacLennan, Service Manager at Larkfield View Care CentreDear James, thank you so much for your kind words about the home and our team, we are pleased that you are happy with your fathers' care and support here.

My husband enjoys living in Larkfield View. The staff are very good with him. He loves the music they have, likes a wee dance with the carters. His personal care is extremely good and very clean. The only problem I would say is the loss of clothing as the names come off.

My aunt has just celebrated her 100th birthday. The staff gave her, her friends and relatives, the most amazing day. I would never have believed such wonderful care and love would be shown in a care home.
Visitors and patients alike are shown much kindness and a lovely welcome when entering the home.
My
aunt is bedridden but always very cosy and comfortable.

Emergency respite was provided to my mum after her flat was flooded. From the outset, my mother was made to feel most welcome. Staff were friendly, professional and made every effort to ensure my mother's needs were met.
I was provided with a telephone number for the home to provide contact and all
enquiries have been answered in full and promptly.
My mother tells me she loves the food and would like to come back to Larkfield View if she has to have respite in the future.

My mum has been in this care home for 2 years now, everything is good. Food could do with having more variety as it's the same every week. Staff are amazing. The decor is nice but the dining room is very dated and needs to be freshened up. The carpet in the corridor needs to be renewed as it has worn
out and looks terrible. Other than this, it's a great, clean, friendly home. No concerns whatsoever.

No one wants to put their loved ones into care. But despite the excellent services and care my mum received, the day came she needed 24/7 supervision and was no longer safe in her own home.
Nearly 7 years on and I am delighted to say that Larkfield View was definitely the right decision for my mum.
She has not only had the excellent medical care and attention she requires, but has so much fun meeting new friends, and taking part in all the activities and day trips provided by the excellent staff.
Larkfield View Care Centre is one big family, run by excellent staff who take pride in their vocation! No matter the job title, the staff here work together as a team, and show great patience and dignity towards all their residents.

The care home has provided high-quality care for my mother since March 2017. The staff are committed, friendly and helpful in supporting both mum and visitors. the meals served. I am very happy with the level of care provided.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.700)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.700) out of 10 for Larkfield View Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.831 for Larkfield View Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (172 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 201 Ratings = 4.831
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.869 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Larkfield View Care Centre is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 90 registered maximum number of service users is 18. 17 Positive Reviews ÷ 18 = 0.944
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
