Larkfield View Care Home is situated in a fantastic location close to the town of Greenock and the picturesque Gourock seafront. The purpose-built home is equipped to provide nursing care to residents over the age of 65 and for those with dementia-related conditions.

All 90 bedrooms have bright and spacious single bed accommodation with en-suite facilities for privacy and convenience. In addition, each unit within the home has its own lounge and dining facilities where residents can enjoy home cooked meals and afternoon tea with family and friends.

The home runs a varied activities programme, which includes some fantastic day trips and a yearly holiday to Largs; the charming seaside resort on the west coast of Scotland.

Peace and quiet can also be enjoyed in the attractive terraced courtyard and sensory garden area surrounding the home.

Elsie MacLennan, the Service Manager at Larkfield View recently won the ''Care Home Registered Manager of the Year" for the North West region at the Great British Care Awards 2017, and is also through to the 2018 National Finals.

My Nana has been a resident now for 11 years at Larkfield Care Centre and feels very comfortable in her home, surrounds and continuity of staff. My mum was assessed at her house. She was made to feel completely at ease. She was allowed to talk and express herself.
She was admitted and was made welcome by all. She has settled in and is very happy with her surroundings. Overall, myself and family are very happy with how well she is being treated
and we are completely relieved ar how she has settled in.

Larkfield View were taking the residents away to Craig Tara for a few days, my mum was to go, but the staff decided that it might have unsettled my mum. My sister and I were not happy with this decision and took my mum away for 3 nights instead but stayed for only 2 as mum was so unsettled. As a result,
we realised that the staff were right. My mum was not happy in a strange place and just wanted to get home to Larkfield View, her home. The manager and all the staff are just fabulous. A lesson to listen to the professionals, they know best.

Mum has been in Larkfield View for the past couple of months. I have found all staff to be helpful, courteous and caring. I am at the home every day at various times, therefore meeting a number of staff. Leaving my Mum in care was a very stressful thing but was made easier knowing she is being well

I visit here many times and on all occasions, I'm always impressed with the staff's attention and treatment of the residents. The home is very pleasant and residents rooms that I have seen always look homely and personal.
I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for this type of care.

Staff are always pleasant and helpful, they treat the residents with dignity and respect, whilst still having the time to talk and have fun with them.

My first reaction on entering the care home was the friendly and obliging staff, from all working areas. Lovely fresh surroundings. Residents that I come across looked happy and always seemed to have an activity happening or about to happen. The only downfall for my sister was her age. She was a lot
younger than fellow residents, she stayed in her room, but was happy with her television and magazines. The staff were always popping in to check on her.


Overall, very satisfied with the facility.

My Father in Law was given notice by a home due to his behaviour as they could not deal with his dementia. Now he is well cared for, clean and well hydrated. The staff sit in the lounge and engage with the residents. The food is excellent and he is a lot less agitated. I have witnessed carers helping
an agitated resident who bites - they diffuse the situation by taking her for a walk.

My sister in law has been in Larkfield View Care Home since November 2013 and was welcomed, settled and shown every consideration since then.
The staff are very kindly and friendly to their patients and treat them with the respect they deserve.
She has settled down well and seems happy and content
with her treatment.

Elsie

Elsie MacLennan

Job Title: Service Manager Joined: 2012

Elsie has over 20 years experience working for the NHS providing care and support to both younger adults with a physical disability and older adults within an assessment and rehabilitation unit. During this time she was also a part time lecturer at Reid Kerr College teaching basic nursing skills.


Elsie joined the private sector 14 years ago where she managed a care home, which was recognised for the quality of care delivered and achieving excellent grades from the Care Commission. She joined the Team at Larkfield View in December 2012 as Service Manager.
