Larkfield View Care Home is situated in a fantastic location close to the town of Greenock and the picturesque Gourock seafront. The purpose-built home is equipped to provide nursing care to residents over the age of 65 and for those with dementia-related conditions.

All 90 bedrooms have bright and spacious single bed accommodation with en-suite facilities for privacy and convenience. In addition, each unit within the home has its own lounge and dining facilities where residents can enjoy home cooked meals and afternoon tea with family and friends.

The home runs a varied activities programme, which includes some fantastic day trips and a yearly holiday to Largs; the charming seaside resort on the west coast of Scotland.

Peace and quiet can also be enjoyed in the attractive terraced courtyard and sensory garden area surrounding the home.

Elsie MacLennan, the Service Manager at Larkfield View recently won the ''Care Home Registered Manager of the Year" for the North West region at the Great British Care Awards 2017, and is also through to the 2018 National Finals.

Never wanted to expected my mother to be in a care home. Six months ago the decision was taken out of our hands. If she was in any other care home, I would not be content. Larkfield View is the best care home I have ever been in.


Mum has all the space to go for walks, a beautiful bedroom, dining

room and sitting rooms. I have no concerns when I'm not there as the staff are very attentive and friendly towards her. The activities and entertainment they provide are fantastic as is the food. I couldn't fault it's cleanliness either as it is always spotless. Well done to all the staff, they have made my life less stressful as I know mum is well cared for. Excellent, keep up the good work.

My 89 year old mother was admitted to Larkfield View for respite and assessment of Alzheimer's condition. She spent 4 and a half weeks there and was initially unsure what was happening with her, as she thought she'd go back home. She needed long term care and had previously said when her memory was
Ok, that she'd like to go to another care home if this situation ever occurred. I wanted to respect my mum's wishes and she got transferred to that home. Unfortunately, after nearly 4 months there, she didn't settle and kept asking to go back to Larkfield View. She was so lonely in the other home. The manager suggested mum come for lunch. She went and she was like a different person. She remembered the staff and didn't only stay for lunch but dinner too. It's a very sociable home and the staff and management can't do enough for mum. We are both delighted with Larkfield View.

My mother has lived in Larkfield care home about 2 years. Today the residents went to Cardwell garden centre for lunch, this and other outings happen frequently. In my opinion this is an excellent care home, from care, food and hygiene. The manager is superb she is not just a terrific manager but gets
involved with the residents, just mucks in. My mother loves her room, the staff are very approachable, having peace of mind knowing your parent is safe and happy you can not buy.

My husband has been a resident in Larkfield View for just over six years. During that time we have witnessed and experienced many changes within the home both in his medical condition and in the environment he lives in. We are more than happy to acknowledge all the hard work and effort that has been
made by all members of staff without exception to reach the new grade 5.
The care and attention my husband receives on a daily basis allows our family to rest easy that he is receiving excellent care. The manager has worked tirelessly to bring a brilliant team around her. Working with residents who dementia plus other health issues cannot be an easy task but the staff deal with each resident on their personal needs and not just as a number. Well done everyone keep up the great work.

My mum has been a resident in Larkfield View for nearly nine years and I have seen turnover of staff during this time. The Manager has worked tirelessly to improve the experiences for all residents and has brought the staff on board with herself and William at the helm. The recent Care Inspectorate
report awarded 5 Very Good levels and was well deserved. The focus is very much individual person centred and I have found that, although my mum cannot communicate verbally, the staff know her needs very well and try their best to improve her quality of life. If I have a concern about any aspect of my mum's care I have always found staff very approachable and keen to work out a solution with me. Larkfield View community is continually evolving and because of the commitment of staff at all levels to improving experiences for the residents in their care, consultation with family and residents, and skilful leadership I am looking forward to future developments.

Both my Mum and Aunt are very well looked after and the home is alway clean and fresh. My mother particularly likes the security of there being people to help her overnight. Both have an en-suite shower room and both have all their medical needs looked after. The staff are very patient with them against
what must be a very demanding job. The staff at the home are excellent at letting me know if either of my relatives have any wee problems.

My mother-in-law has been a resident here for 2 years, she has dementia. She enjoys the activities and takes part in them each afternoon. In the summer time she enjoys sitting in the garden. Any concerns regarding her health are discussed during our visits. My mother-in-law looks forward to meal times
and enjoy the food that is freshly cooked daily on site. It also has a hairdressing salon and she has a shampoo and set each week. Staff and carers are very good and go out of their way to be helpful.

My wife has been a resident in Larkfield View for the past ten years. Throughout that time she has received excellent care. The staff have been exceptional and caring. My wife and I have been so thankful for the many dedicated staff who have supported us.

I find the home to be welcoming. I regularly meet cleaning staff who keep everything fresh. Care staff are friendly and alert to patients needs, though at times seen understaffed. Senior nursing staff keep us informed of any changes in my mother's health when we visit and also by phone. There are activities
for residents who want to take part.

This care home has provided excellent care to my nanna for a number of years. Staff ensure that her individual needs are met on a daily basis, and keep family members up to date on how my nanna is getting on. Staff are also very friendly and make our family welcome in the care home at any time.

Elsie

Elsie MacLennan

Job Title: Service Manager Joined: 2012

Elsie has over 20 years experience working for the NHS providing care and support to both younger adults with a physical disability and older adults within an assessment and rehabilitation unit. During this time she was also a part time lecturer at Reid Kerr College teaching basic nursing skills.


Elsie joined the private sector 14 years ago where she managed a care home, which was recognised for the quality of care delivered and achieving excellent grades from the Care Commission. She joined the Team at Larkfield View in December 2012 as Service Manager.
