Our mother came into Hastings Court for Respite care following hospitalisation. Her care over this period was wonderfully sensitive, she was reluctant to comply in all sorts of ways, but the staff gently encouraged her without once making her feel anxious or stressed. Which is what I think makes Hastings Court special. Her wants and wishes are listened to and taken seriously.
She is no longer lonely and has made friends with other residents.

I’m a retired general nurse, district nurse and health visitor and can honestly say that I’ve seen quite a few nursing/care homes in my time and this is the best.

A wonderful, caring home with staff going over and above their call of duty. Their caring, kindness and support to all their residents is second to none, nothing is too much trouble. Dignity and respect is carried out at all times.

Mum has been a resident for 1 month after a stay in hospital where she was very poorly. Since being at Hastings Court she has been looked after really well by caring staff. She is receiving palliative care and has been made to feel comfortable. The facilities and rooms are excellent and mum couldn't be anywhere better.

This modern and well-appointed care home offers specialist care for sufferers with various types and degrees of dementia. My wife had been successfully for two weeks in 2017 and she came again this month while I was in hospital for one week's emergency care. I was able to join her for my respite/rehab and was well supported in remobilising my revised artificial hip. Sympathetic and encouraging care in abundance. Good food (possibly too much!!)

All relatives and friends were impressed with Hastings Court from day 1. Extremely welcoming and comfortable for both our relative, his carers, friend and relatives. The staff were particularly attentive and caring. The facilities, likewise, could not be faulted. I would have no hesitation in recommending to anyone else.

What has struck me about Hastings Court is the level of consistency from the staff and with the level of warmth towards my dad. He and I have now been able to relax and worry is now the thing of the past. The nursing home is a beautiful environment for the residents to live in and there is always an air of contentment from both staff and residents. All nursing homes should be like this.

My father-in-law arrived here in late November with a terminal illness. The concern and care for him has been excellent. I can clearly see how dedicated the staff are and how helpful they always are. The home is beautifully decorated and well maintained. My father-in-law is full of praise and wants to give thanks to everyone who has helped him feel comfortable and worry free.

On first visiting Hastings Court I was surprised at how welcoming the staff were. The initial impression has turned into a lasting one.
Every member of staff has been so kind, supportive and very caring to both my father and our family/friends. Nothing is too much trouble and my father is comfortable and safe.

I am constantly reassured he will be looked after in a person-centred way. If I could have chosen an ideal home for him other than his own this is what my ideal would have been. The environment is also welcoming, comfortable and the food of a very high standard. I am so grateful to all the staff who have made the distressing situation so much easier to bear.

I have nothing but praise for the care, empathy and professionalism shown by everyone at Hastings Court. My wife was in respite care while I was in hospital, and it gave me great peace of mind to know she was in good hands. It is clear from what she tells me that she thoroughly enjoyed the activities and the care.

In 2015, when Hastings Court first opened, we had a bad experience and were dubious about bringing my husband back.

We decided to give it another shot when I needed respite due to having a knee replacement. I can honestly say that everything about Hastings Court has made a remarkable change for the better. We are very impressed.

Many thanks.

My sister moved to Hastings court. What a beautiful care home. It's as much home from home as you could wish. All the staff are amazing, caring and kindness itself. There are many activities to fill the day if you wish to participate. The bistro is fab - the delicious cakes and cookies. I hope I've missed no one out for the continuing care and kindness you show my sister.

When my mum had a bad fall, there was no question as to where she would go for respite nursing care - Hastings Court. They had looked after my dad previously so well and us as a family.

I rang them immediately and they couldn't do enough to help. They made us so welcome and settled my mum in giving me the reassurance that I knew she was in safe hands. Amazing place with wonderful staff.

Hastings Court has been going through a major transition in terms of management. I strongly feel that the new manager has worked tirelessly in establishing new ways of working in terms of making Hastings Court a happy, positive and welcoming environment. From my observations as a family member, it is very noticeable that all staff from management to housekeepers are working together to make Hastings Court an effective, safe well lead home.

My first job in the care sector started 30 years ago, and despite exploring other career choices, I have always returned to doing what I love the most. I have been part of the Hastings Court family since 2015, and I feel extremely proud to be a member of the management team in such a fabulous home.

I feel incredibly passionate about our residents receiving the best possible care during their time with us, and all of our team members go above and beyond every day to ensure that this happens.

Seeing our residents doing the things that they love is such a treat for us all, from days out fishing, trips to the theatre or just a walk around the Old Town browsing through the antique shops, it’s sometimes the little things that count the most.

I started at Hastings Court in 2015. Before this, I worked in a small charity-run home for adults with learning disabilities for eight years. I started as a part-time Care Assistant whilst at college to study for my level 5 in Health and Social Care. I have progressed from Care Assistant to Team Leader, then Community Lead, and I am now deputy manager at Hastings Court. I love my job at Hastings Court. I enjoy the daily interaction I have with residents and staff. I feel proud to be able to support the team in helping them achieve their goals and create the best environment for our residents to live in. In my spare time, I play netball and love watching my son play football.

My job is so varied and that's what I love about it! I support not only the home in general with all aspects of home care, plumbing, décor etc but help residents and their families to personalise their rooms.
Lately, I have been very involved with the commissioning of a new Oakland care home, whilst my very capable assistant, George, looks after Hastings Court.

I count myself as being so lucky to work in an environment where we are all one big family.
