The Review Score of 8.7 (maximum of 10) for Tower Bridge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 9 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Tower Bridge Care Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.358 for Tower Bridge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (57 Excellents x 5) + (32 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 4.358

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

The 4.352 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Tower Bridge Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 25.6 positive Reviews (128 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 9 Reviews ÷ 25.6 Target = 0.352

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My mum moved in Nov 2016, she has settled in very well. She looks better in herself, she is clean and tidy and has a visit to the hairdresser every week. The staff and management are caring and friendly. We are very happy with the home.

My mother is well cared for in it's widest sense i.e. the homes cleanliness, food, medical checks/medicine dispensing and communication of these is good. Staffing levels are adequate and the relatively new management team have all but eradicated reliance on temporary carers/nursing, which was prevalent earlier in the year and in 2015. One area that continues in my view to be substandard is the degree of "quality time" i.e. one to one time that is spent with individual residents. Activities staff are either part time and/or stretched in terms of record keeping, number of residents they have to attend to. Part of this is likely also to be due to the level of experience of some carers. Overall an improving quality of care is being provided at Tower Bridge.

HC-One, Careline Team at Tower Bridge Care Home responded to this review on 09 Aug 2016:

Thank you for taking the time to complete a review. We really value the feedback provided by those who use our services.
We note you have highlighted concerns about the activities programme on offer at the home, and apologise if we have fallen short of the high standards we aspire to.
Currently there is one full time and two part time Activities Coordinators. Another full time Activity Coordinator is recruited to post but we are awaiting a start date pending final checks.
There are two Activity Coordinators who are allocated to focus on big events relating to the cultural and spiritual aspects of Residents lives. They also organise concerts, choirs, dance groups and Resident outings. The third Activity Coordinator solely conducts one to one activity with our bed bound Residents and group activities in the afternoon.
HC-One Limited works in partnership with attend, which is Friends of One Tower Bridge Road. Attend looks for volunteers who can offer Residents friendship and social and recreational activities.
There is also a planned monthly activity calendar which is displayed on the unit in order to inform relatives of activities which will be carried out during the month. Recently we have introduced the Tower Bridge Care Home newsletter to share our previous month’s valuable moments. The newsletter is available in the Residents rooms and reception.
Thanking you again for taking the time to provide really helpful feedback about the home. We value all feedback and ensure it is recorded and acted upon.

I am very happy with the service and care the staff provide for my husband in the 3 years he has been in the care home, there have been many managers but the manager and assistant manager we have are the best we have ever had.

Your phone system is not very satisfactory. When phoning at weekends no one seems to know how to transfer to the third floor, or phone rings without being picked up. I have often been put on hold for so long that I feel I have been cut off. This is something you need to sort out.
