Mum has been a resident at The Arkley since late 2018, since when her health has deteriorated due to late-stage vascular dementia. The staff at the Arkley continue to show Mum exceptional levels of care and compassion, for which the whole of my family is grateful.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are glad to help you and your family through such a difficult time. It is always nice to hear from family members feeling like their loved one is cared for and looked after. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make Mum's stay as comfortable as possible.
My friend spent the last fourteen months of his life, with advanced Parkinson's, at The Arkley in comfort and with good all-around care. He was well looked after. All the staff were friendly and showed great professionalism and appreciation of his condition and the limitations it imposed on him - while at the same time having to work within the regime that Covid restrictions required.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review and for your kind words. We are very happy to hear you can feel at ease with your friend in our care. We hope The Arkley care home did everything possible to make the transition as easy as possible. We hope to continue providing your loved one with the best possible care.
My Mum was a resident in The Arkley Care Home for just over 8 years. The home is very caring, clean and one of the best. All the staff are very friendly and looked after my Mum in a very caring way. The Arkley stands in a nice garden area. There is a good entertainment program if the resident wants to join in. The Arkley are like one big family, of which I was glad my Mum was a part. My Mum passed away on the 10th May, so this is my last review and I’m going to miss my second family.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave us your comments. It is lovely to hear that you and your mum felt like you were a part of our family. We are sorry for your loss, please accept our condolences. Hopefully, you will go away from this feeling like your Mum received the best possible care.
My mum was moved to the care home during the pandemic. She has been looked after and treated with kindness and compassion. All the staff are really lovely and helpful. Looking forward to visiting more now that the restrictions are eased off.

The care home is good. The staff are nice and my mum seems happy. Sometimes it takes a bit of a long time for them to answer the phone. Parking is good and free. I have been coming here for over a year and there have been no issues, apart from the covid restrictions.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave us your comments. It is nice to hear that Mum is happy in our care home. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your Mum's stay as comfortable as possible.
The Arkley Care Home provides outstanding and very friendly service. My father is extremely well looked after by the excellent staff, who are always on hand with their expertise, efficiency and compassion.

The staff at The Arkley have managed through these recent times with both the rigour required to deal with C19 but also very good communication and understanding the needs of the whole family. Whilst my father is actually receiving the care in the home, we also feel that the staff lookout for the other family members too! Very kind.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave us your comments, We are very happy to hear you can feel at ease with your father in our care and that you all as a family feel supported. Thank you for choosing The Arkley for your father's stay.
I couldn't ask for a better home for my Dad. The staff are wonderful and so friendly. The biggest compliment I can pay is that my Dad is so happy there and you can't ask for more than that. My Dad looked to be on his last legs when he went in there and now he's like the fella he used to be. Me and my family can't thank the manager and her staff enough. I would recommend this place to anybody.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave us your comments. It is lovely to hear that you are happy with Dad in our care and to hear the progress he has made. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your Dads stay as comfortable as possible.
The management and staff at The Arkley continue to do a truly wonderful job providing care and compassion for our mum, who has been at The Arkley since September 2018. We could not ask for a more loving, caring and compassionate environment for our mum to live out her final years. The staff always go over and beyond to ensure that Mum is comfortable and that, as a family, we retain great access to Mum, either in person or virtually through video calls.
Thank you for your kind words. We are very happy to hear you can feel at ease with your Mum in our care at The Arkley. Thank you for choosing us to care for her.
Supportive, friendly and efficient. Very happy with Mum's care. The staff are super helpful and accommodating. Covid safe throughout. So happy Mum is in safe hands. Easy to make an appointment to visit. No issues at all.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave us your comments. It is lovely to hear that you are happy with your Mum's care. Please let us know if there is anything more we can do to make your Mum's stay more comfortable.
This review is well overdue. First of all, I’d like to say a huge thank you to all the staff at The Arkley Care Home for their caring, compassion and patience in looking after my dear sister. My sister was barely 60 years old when she arrived at The Arkley, she was on death’s doorstep suffering so much with her rheumatoid arthritis that we, the family, were sure that she would not be with us for very much longer. So it was unbelievable to see my sister, weeks later, looking so much better. Unfortunately, I do not get to see my sister as often as I would like, living abroad, but speaking to her on video calls and seeing the huge difference in her is so heart-warming. I and my family cannot thank the staff enough for all their hard work and dedication. They do a great and amazing job.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are so glad that your Sister is now feeling much better in our care. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to support both you and your Sister.
I am bowled over by every brilliant aspect of Arkley. The care, the standard, the humanity, the kindness, the patience, the ambiance, the environment, the meals provided, the homely feel, the very high professional standards of all the staff and I do emphasise the warmth (and repeating myself) the humanity and compassion towards the residents. The high level of care, the joys of a multi-racial staff, so experience and understanding is across a broad spectrum and not just an efficient, robotic response but such a comfortable experience for all concerned. It's obvious that information is reviewed, shared, and the staff are always there if I have a query, and the updates if needed, are fast and the delivery is always gentle and kind. Kindness is highly valued there and one of the most important aspects of care - care often in the face of complex and challenging patients.
Thank you for your lovely review. It is always so nice to hear words such as "humanity, kindness, patience and warmth" used to describe the care environment provided by our staff. We will certainly pass your comments on to the whole team. Thank you again for your kind words.
Due to the pandemic, our mum moved into the home under challenging circumstances for everyone. However, throughout, we have found the staff to be friendly and kind. Mum has settled in well. We are grateful that Mum is allowed visits from us as she has dementia and one-to-one contact is so important. Thank you to all the staff.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are glad to hear that our staff were able to support and reassure you through this transition in difficult circumstances. It is so nice to be able to now welcome you in for visits. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to make your Mum as happy as possible in our care.
Today was Mum's 83rd Birthday and my husband and I have just had an amazingly memorable visit with her. Mum's receiving End of Life care, so this Birthday was extra meaningful. We arrived to a beautifully decorated room with balloons and streamers everywhere. A fantastic Birthday cake was brought up and Happy Birthday was sung by a chorus of carers. The cake was delicious and Mum managed a few mouthfuls. I can't thank the manager and other team members enough, for making this day so special. I leave Mum after every visit, knowing she is in safe hands, getting the best care and loved by all the staff.
Thank you for your kind review. We are so glad we were able to make your Mum's Birthday special for all of you. I will certainly pass your thanks on to the whole team. Thank you for choosing us to look after her.
He has advanced Parkinsons now along with other conditions and has very limited mobility, so it has been a very challenging time, as it has been for everyone.
The staff at The Arkley have been wonderful throughout; they’ve worked tirelessly to help keep me in touch with my dad and looked after him both medically and mentally.
The nursing team are second to none; he has the best care, and I feel confident that his medical needs are being looked after, even in these frustrating Covid times!
The management team and the team that coordinate socialising which includes visits and contact with my dad are truly amazing; I am so grateful to them. Nothing ever too much to ask for; they feel like family members to me. They even organized a ‘birthday visit’ for me with my dad - including a bottle of fizz and a cake! So, so special; it was the best birthday I could have wished for!
Thank you for your kind words. We are glad to hear that you felt well supported throughout this difficult period by everyone at The Arkley and that they went to such efforts to make your birthday visit special. I will certainly pass your lovely comments on to the whole team.
My grandma is so happy here! Best home ever. All staff here have done such a good job keeping all residents happy and safe during this pandemic. Regularly kept up to date with how she is and have FaceTime sessions set up. Couldn’t ask for any better!
We are very happy to hear you are satisfied with the quality of our care. Thank you for your kind words.
After the recent inside visit to my father at The Arkley Care Home, I was impressed at everything they had done to make an indoor visit possible. I cannot think of anything better that they could have done. I entered the COVID safe room from outside, thus having no contact with the other residents inside. Dad was brought down on the inside. Both were separated by a screen and space. Much better than the tent, but that was the best venue at that time.
Thank you for your understanding during such a difficult time. We appreciate it is very hard having restrictions on visiting a loved one. Please let us know if there is anything else, we can do to help.
We are obviously experiencing unprecedented times at the moment but The Arkley staff and management have risen to the challenge heroically with homes being in lockdown. They have enabled me to have a FaceTime chat with my wife every day if we want to. This has gone a long way to keeping things as normal as possible and ensuring my wife is relaxed and happy.
Thank you for trusting us with your wife's care. We are very happy to hear you are satisfied with the quality of our care.
I write this under very difficult circumstances. Firstly, my mother lays in a waking coma at the Arkley Nursing Home during the lockdown of Coronavirus 2020. She has been in that condition since arriving at the home back in February of this year. Quite remarkably, the staff elected to lockdown with, at the time of writing this with all 48 residents over the age of 70. A selfless and admirable commitment to both nursing and residents. The staff have been truly incredible at maintaining my mother’s comfort and dignity whilst having to find a balance of caring for many others. On an hourly basis, the home has to release several members of staff to assist in my mother’s care. The staff seemingly remain calm and composed at all times and are forever reassuring to us that my mother is calm and comfortable. They allow us regular contact either via phone call or FaceTime/Zoom without any hint that they are under pressure. I would not hesitate to recommend the Arkley Nursing Home.
Thank you for your kind words. We are very happy to hear you can feel at ease with your mother in our care.
My wife entered The Arkley in February 2020 after suffering complications during major surgery. As a result, she has complex handicaps and needs 24-hour nursing care for the rest of her life. On first visiting The Arkley, I was immediately struck by the sense of light, space and calm that prevailed and felt that she would be content there. I was well satisfied with the care plan outlined and decided that I need not visit other possible homes. These good initial impressions have been more than delivered. The repeated infections that she picked up in hospital have not featured in The Arkley and her general comfort and well-being are much improved. Shortly after her admission came the vicious COVID-19. It is a tribute to the leadership of the manager and the efforts, skill and dedication of her staff that this aggressive virus has not been allowed to enter Arkley. I am satisfied that my wife of 62 years is in the best possible hands.
Thank you for such kind words. We are very happy to hear you are satisfied with the quality of our care.
