I have only good things to say about the Arkley - the staff provide an outstanding level of compassion and care and provided for my grandmother’s every need. This was especially evident at the end of her life and I highly commend the palliative care provided. They were very responsive whenever an issue arose and helped to make the last months of my grandmother’s life as happy as possible. This care also extended to the family.

They even went above and beyond to organise for her to leave the Arkley for the afternoon to celebrate a relative’s birthday party, something none of us believed was possible!

Caring home and an excellent manager, who is very attentive and responsive to any queries/updates to care.
You do need to ensure you have a clear care plan early on to ensure consistency in care.

Food and environment is good. Caring staff as well.

My mother has been a resident in the Arkley Nursing Home for five months and I can't speak too highly of the quality and genuine caring of the care she receives. The manager has helped to reinforce a very thoughtful approach to care, and my mum is proactively and warmly encouraged to take part in activities. She and we have especially appreciated her being taken into the garden when the weather is warm enough, and when the family gave her a tea party in the tea room, the room had been decorated to make it even more of a celebration. The manager regards Arkley as its residents' home and this really shows.

We are incredibly grateful.

My mother went into Arkley last June with terminal cancer. She was given two months to live.
The care and compassion she received was 100%. The staff from all departments were fantastic and she went on until April this year!
I’m positive this only happened with the care received. They also gave me backup when I needed it.
The rooms are very comfortable and they try to make it home from home.

My father was a resident from April 2016 until his passing in April 2019.
I cannot express my gratitude to all the staff at the Arkley for the care, compassion and dignity they showed dad right up to his final day. I have grown to know them all very well and I felt so reassured knowing he was so well looked after.
When Dad’s health declined and it was discussed that he might benefit from a hospice, he flatly refused as he saw The Arkley as his home and that’s where he wanted to be. My dad had nothing but kind words for everyone from the management. The nurses and health care assistants as well as the catering team and domestic staff.
I would like to express a personal thanks to the manager, the two senior nurses, the head chef and to the two domestic staff, who always had time to stop and have a chat with Dad when visiting his room.
I couldn’t recommend The Arkley enough..

Overall Experience
My relative is not the easiest person and has found the move to a care home very difficult. Nevertheless, the team looking after him have been patient, kind and caring. He has gradually settled in because the nursing staff are excellent and pay careful attention to his needs. He is bed-bound, has many health needs and is a very reluctant eater, so has needed lots of encouragement.

Also, all the staff are very welcoming and responsive to the family and communicate with me very well.

My mother-in-law is currently in The Arkley Care Home and the care she has received so far has exceeded our expectations. The residents are all well looked after and the staff are fantastic, helpful, kind and considerate. The building is homely and inviting with a warm cosy feel and a high standard of cleanliness. We are so grateful for their realistic and sensitive approach to her end of life care.

This care home is full of very dedicated staff who are friendly and approachable. They are a very busy home and the staff are constantly on the go but manage to be cheerful and polite when you meet them.
The home is warm and comfortable and kept nice and clean for the residents and the manager is very helpful.

Nan couldn't have asked for better care in the last 6 months of her life. We, the family, were made to feel welcome as well and use the home as our home! My nan received the best care in the last few days of her life. We were happy we didn't have to move her to a hospice, because she got the same care in the nursing home.

My mum sadly passed away in Oct, she went into care home in May we visited everyday so feel able to highly recommend this home. All the staff were very caring to mum and all the family. They made a very difficult time in our lives easier to cope with. Towards the end, they were all so kind to us all. And my mum passed away peacefully due to their care and kindness.

My father has been at The Arkley Care Home for a number of weeks' recuperation after an extended hospital stay.
Our whole family are so grateful for the kindness and respect shown to him and to us by all members of staff.
It makes a big difference knowing that he is safe and well cared for whilst he gets his strength back.
The home itself is bright with large rooms. There are fresh flowers everywhere and home cooked food. My father has even been asked for a list of his favourite foods so the chef can prepare him special meals.

The home is very clean and the staff all seem to take a pride in working there.

I have been bowled over by the care and attention given to my parents whilst staying at Arkley - All the staff have all gone out of their way to make their stay as comfortable and accommodating as possible and no detail has been overlooked. You just have to ask! The care and medical care has been of paramount importance and each and every person has been treated with dignity in a very friendly environment. We were very impressed with the overall presentation of this nursing home. All the staff were very helpful and polite. Every effort was made by them to ensure that our Aunt received the care and attention she required. Her room was spacious and we were able to personalise it and make it homely. Nothing was too much trouble for the nursing staff and the chef made sure she ate whatever she wanted. Very impressed with the cleanliness. The reception staff were excellent as were the management team.

Our mother was at the Arkley Nursing Home for nearly nine years. During that time, her care was exemplary. She was treated with dignity and respect. The staff were always friendly and welcoming and the nurses promptly informed us of any changes in her medical needs. We were particularly grateful for the sympathetic and understanding treatment both she and the family received in our mother's final days - nothing was too much trouble.
