As always my interactions with the staff are very satisfactory.
3 members of staff, in particular, are always very professional and obviously care not just for my Mum but also for other residents. They keep me informed of any issues affecting my Mum. I never have any hesitation in recommending this
home.

My friend who now lives at Ashgrove is very happy there and well cared for. Her overall health has improved since admission and she is more engaged and cheerful. The staff are always helpful and kind. Her room is clean and pleasant and she chats well with the staff who care for her. Visitors are encouraged
and welcomed.

My nan spent her last year in Ashgrove. She was extremely happy, the staff were very attentive, friendly and caring and created a home away from home environment for her and us as her family. We will never be able to repay everyone here for the love, support and commitment to their jobs. Thank you everyone!

The so-called care in this home is appalling and frighteningly incompetent. Food and medical diaries are inaccurate, residents are left for hours without being checked/changed or re-positioned and medical care is non-existent. I would absolutely not - under any circumstances - have a loved one enter
this insalubrious dump. The elderly deserve so much better than this.

My dad has been in Ashgrove since September 2021. I just wanted to say that I was very impressed with the nurse, what a professional kind lady she is. Nothing is too much for her, she goes above and beyond in the role of her job. I'm so very happy that someone like her is taking care of not only my
dad but also of all the vulnerable people in her care.

All members of staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They treat residents and visitors with respect. All areas are spotless. There is always a member of staff available and they are very willing to take the time to talk to you. If I ever needed to go into care myself, I would be lucky to come here.
Grateful thanks to everybody for looking after my relative.

Dad is now nearing the end of his fourth year at Ashgrove and has just deteriorated and started 'end-of-life'. I think lockdown accelerated his demise because of being in his room for his own protection but the care has been absolutely amazing. One thing you notice here at Ashgrove, apart from how wonderful
and well-trained everyone is, is that there is such a low turnover of staff. We as a family are very well supported.

I have noticed a great improvement over the last few weeks. Everyone is so kind and friendly, always happy to help, and nothing is too much trouble. I have to mention one member of staff in particular who does a brilliant job with the activities, always takes time to pop in and see us when we visit
Mum.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.686)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.686) out of 10 for Ashgrove Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 28 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.686 for Ashgrove Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (229 Excellents x 5) + (90 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 325 Ratings = 4.686
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashgrove Care Home is based on 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10, which has been reached with 28 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Lourdes Pascua

Job Title: Home Manager

As a Registered Nurse with 40 years of continuous professional nursing practice, Lourdes has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and quality of life for residents.

Talking about her career history, Lourdes said:

“I have managed several various-sized care homes, giving me a great experience. Having worked in this setting previously I understand what the day-to-day role involves so I can support my team.”

Lourdes closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home:

“I operate an open-door policy and am approachable, not only to my team but to residents and relatives as well, as ultimately it is their home more than anyone’s. I encourage residents to make their rooms their own, by bringing in meaningful items to help make their room homely.”

When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Lourdes remarked:

“As the Home Manager I believe our residents should be able to live the life they want and be able to be themselves. I enjoy taking on the responsibilities that come with managing a home and I encourage the inclusion of everyone in the home, to create a friendly environment and a great place for us all to live and work.

The care background of HC-One is what stood out to me when joining, as they understand what is involved at the home level and there is a strong support network in place for me and my team to continually develop. I am passionate about seeing my colleagues grow and develop in their roles to be able to provide and offer the best care and environment for our residents.”

Outside of work, Lourdes enjoys spending time with her family and travelling, experiencing different cultures. She also enjoys reading and watching sports, especially tennis.
