My mother was discharged from hospital straight to Ashgrove. The staff took time to ask us what she liked to eat/drink/music/craft. It's taking a while for my mum to settle, though the staff are doing their best to help her. Today I visited and the nurse gave me an update on her medical requirements
as the doctor had visited her. All in all, it's the best place for my mum.

Friendly, helpful staff. Have been able to speak to a nurse or manager/deputy manager on most occasions to get feedback. I feel able to ask any questions I have. Sometimes it is hard to get through on the phone but this has improved lately. Am concerned the physiotherapist hasn't been but staff liaise
with the physio department to try to get a visit. The room is a bit basic and the TV is too far away but I think this is still an assessment period.

This is my first time experiencing a member of the family being in a nursing home. My aunt has been at Ashgrove Care Home for a month, and I can honestly say, the members of staff have been extremely helpful and put my and my family's minds at ease. They have made me feel welcome, and nothing ever seems
too much trouble when I ask a question. They put my mind at ease knowing my aunt is being well cared for. This, I am very grateful for.

I have found this home to be very welcoming, lovely professional staff very friendly and approachable. The room is light and airy and big enough. The meals are excellent and well balanced. My family member is eating very well, also very happy physio has been visiting him as organized by the home.

My mum took up residence recently. I found the home in a very clean and well organised environment. The staff and management are extremely courteous, caring, and very professional in their approach to the sick and elderly. Mum is really looked after by the staff and management. She is always happy when I visit her. The nursing staff always keep me informed about Mums health. The staff are very polite and will discuss any problems to resolve issues. Mum has everything she needs, always has a cup of tea and sandwich.

My family friend seems very well cared for. Staff show concern for his well-being. Communication is very good, staff alert us if there are any issues or changes to friends status. Due to COVID 19, it’s been a long time since I have seen my brother in the home. The staff and management have been extremely good at keeping me informed of my brother's progress throughout the pandemic, by telephone and video calls with him. It has been very hard on all the family not been able to
see our brother, the video calls were excellent, just to see him was such a relief, cannot praise the staff enough, just brilliant in keeping us up to date all the time. When the lockdown was lifted in the summer last year they made arrangements for us to sit in the garden at a safe distance and brought my brother out to us, which was just great. We are truly grateful to all the wonderful staff at Ashgrove Care Home. We miss seeing them also as they are like family to us. I would like to pay particular thanks to the carers and nurses who work in close contact with my brother, truly wonderful, caring people, every one of them. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Lourdes Pascua

Job Title: Home Manager

As a Registered Nurse with 40 years of continuous professional nursing practice, Lourdes has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and quality of life for residents.


Talking about her career history, Lourdes said:


“I have managed several various-sized care homes, giving me a great experience. Having worked in this setting previously I understand what the day-to-day role involves so I can support my team.”


Lourdes closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home:


“I operate an open-door policy and am approachable, not only to my team but to residents and relatives as well, as ultimately it is their home more than anyone’s. I encourage residents to make their rooms their own, by bringing in meaningful items to help make their room homely.”


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Lourdes remarked:


“As the Home Manager I believe our residents should be able to live the life they want and be able to be themselves. I enjoy taking on the responsibilities that come with managing a home and I encourage the inclusion of everyone in the home, to create a friendly environment and a great place for us all to live and work.


The care background of HC-One is what stood out to me when joining, as they understand what is involved at the home level and there is a strong support network in place for me and my team to continually develop. I am passionate about seeing my colleagues grow and develop in their roles to be able to provide and offer the best care and environment for our residents.”


Outside of work, Lourdes enjoys spending time with her family and travelling, experiencing different cultures. She also enjoys reading and watching sports, especially tennis.
