My immediate reaction was how friendly and how caring the staff were when I first came to visit my mum and it has never changed. Excellent.

The rooms and facilities are also excellent.

Well done to all the management and staff.

My care has been excellent. Keeping me out of hospital on many occasions by treating my problems early, and getting doctors to visit and prescribe medication.

All the staff were welcoming and friendly. This was my first visit and it was encouraging. There seems to be a lot of activities and I would hope that everybody who is able to, participates. The only concern was the occasional and intense smell of cigarette smoke in the corridor, immediately next to his room.

Thank you for your review. We have taken steps to ensure that the doors leading to the unit is always closed when staff are having their cigarette break. We will continue to monitor the effectiveness of this action and review if necessary.

Review from A C (Husband of Resident) published on 18 January 2018 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Overall the standard is good to very good, with a manager who works hard to maintain a high standard, as do the majority of the care staff who work very hard to complete the daily tasks. The dementia floor struggles to feed 19 residents with 4 care staff and 1 nurse and rely on help from other floors and managers. One to one for two residents is now helping the situation. The auxiliary staff are also helpful.

Reply from Vincenzina Catalano, Administrator at Barchester Hugh Myddelton House Care Home

Thank you for your review. We recognise the difficulty in assisting all 19 residents with their meals during meal times and will continue to deploy staff from other departments to assist during these peak periods. On a daily basis, we review the dependency levels of our residents and ensure that we...

I am so pleased and happy to know my husband is in safe hands. I could not wish for a better place for him. Nurses and care staff are of very good standard and their knowledge of caring is just wonderful. The awareness of medical needs is 1st class. The manager is at hand at all times. The home is a very friendly place.

My husband who has Alzheimer's and is confused to a wheelchair is happy at the Hugh Myddelton House Care Centre. The staff are very caring and the food is excellent. Occasionally things get lost e.g pyjamas, hearing aids, but overall I am very satisfied with the care his is getting and I would and have recommended the home.

It is a huge relief for us to know that our father is "safe" 24/7 while we continue to work and care for our families.
Staff are kind and caring and go the extra mile for dad and have become like family to him.

The home has a community feel and although staff are extremely busy, they also have time for us. I have and will continue to recommend this home to friends and family.

I was extremely concerned when I was told that my mother was too immobile to be able to live in her own home again. I felt that she would never be happy elsewhere. All this concern has gone since my Mum moved into Hugh Myddelton House Care Centre. She is eating again and laughing again, the nurses and carers treat her with concern, dignity and love, I could ask for no more. The home feels truly like a home, and although we are real newcomers, we have been welcomed with open arms.
