My late father was a resident at the home until recently. I would like to pay tribute here to the kind care and attention that the staff gave to him while he was in the care home. My experience while I was still free to see him was that the staff treated him like a friend and showed genuine interest in his well being. Thus during the pandemic, I have always felt that he was in safe hands. I talked earlier this week with the nurse who was with him on his final day and she kindly provided me with the comfort that he had not suffered. I guess care homes can have all sorts of facilities etc, but in the end, the thing that counts is the hearts of the staff and that Kingston Care Home has in abundance. So thank you to everyone for helping my lovely Pa.

We are so sorry to hear about your Father but pleased you felt he received great care and hope that his time at Kingston did see some friendships flourish, especially with the care team. Take care.

My dear friend has been at Kingston for around a year and he couldn’t be happier with the service he receives. We talk regularly on the phone and even during Covid, we have been able to keep up with our chats and he informs me that the staff are doing all they can to keep him happy and safe.

I'm really happy the way my father is being cared for by the staff. They all work so hard in this difficult time by keeping professional without showing any stress, so I do recommend Kingston care home.

My Nan is at Kingston care home and has been for a year or so now. Its been really hard with coronavirus not to visit her but the home has kept in contact with my mum and we speak with my Nan almost daily. She is happy and comfortable and that is all we can ask for. The staff are always helpful and friendly and we can't wait to visit once this is all over.

Mum has been very well cared for since moving to Kingston Care Home. The staff are all very caring and supportive and look after her needs well. I am kept informed with her state of health etc and feel able to ask anything about her care, should I be concerned. I am very happy with Kingston Care Home and would recommend it to others.

Overall Mum is being well looked after. It has taken time for us to get used to her being in a home and for her too. There is or could be improved, the menu system as after she has had what she does not like. But they all listen, do the best they can. When we asked if Mum could be moved to a bigger room, the Manager could not have been more helpful. The move all went well and the maintenance man was marvellous.

The permanent care staff are excellent and very caring, but because of the shortage of staff, they do not have time to provide as much time as they would like with residents. The standard of agency staff is abysmal and they appear to have little or no training and 'are only there for their wages!'

My mum is very well looked after and is always treated with care, kindness and respect. The staff are always very polite and friendly and help, if needed, is readily given. My mum doesn't take part in any activities but I know should she have been well enough and mobile/able to, there are things she would have really enjoyed. She is always kept clean. Her room is lovely and clean.

We asked the home to provide a room and tea party for a 92nd birthday party for our friend. They decorated her room, brought her beautifully dressed into the room and made her a special birthday cake. They are very kind and attentive.

My father spent just over 3 months as a Kingston Care Home resident. Throughout that period he was cared for attentively and he rallied significantly before inevitably succumbing to his illness. His affection for his carers was the best testament to his level of care and their professionalism. The staff were always welcoming and helpful and always greeted us and Dad with a smile. When Mum visited she was encouraged to feel at home and join in activities with Dad, should they wish. The home has a calm, friendly and purposeful atmosphere and the management are approachable and helpful. I would definitely recommend KCH, it served our 'ardent care home sceptic' very well indeed. Heartfelt thanks to all the staff who were involved in Dad's care.

My mother spent the last eight months of her life at Kingston Care Home and I cannot speak highly enough of the home and the staff, kind, respectful to my mother's needs and highly responsive to any issues that arose as a result of her declining health. The entertainments manager works tirelessly and with unwavering good humour to make the residents' lives more enjoyable. I feel blessed that Mum was looked after so well here in her final months and the staff relieved me of an enormous burden of worry, thank you.

My experience of the care home is as a son of a resident with significant care needs (bed bound, dementia care and cancer). My mother has been in the home for three months and while she has been there I have been very impressed by the attention to detail, care, consideration and fun that the team have brought to the delivery of care. There are times when I feel humbled by the way the team approach a very difficult job with good humour. I feel my mother is in excellent hands safe and secure.

Very caring and considerate home from home, treating every resident as someone special.
Staff are faultless and kind and professional and seem to love to go the extra mile.

Any requests are promptly and efficiently dealt with, making palliative care human.

On the surface, this home seems good. Many of the staff are very kind and treat the clients with respect and dignity. However, many do not and it is clear that the care is missing and that this is just a job.
The moving and handling sometimes seem more like "man-handling".
I have had to ask for my step-dad's carpet to be shampooed on several occasions. I think it should be done when there's an accident, not wait until it stinks. And it does.
The staff who are good are very good but I feel on the whole, it falls short.

Also, hearing aids go missing or get melted in the dryer. Clothes have also gone missing.

My husband has been a resident since August 2017 and I can only describe Kingston Care Home as a very caring, professional home. The staff are consistent, friendly and kind and understanding. My husband has stayed in two other nursing homes and this is by far the best.

Alex TiexeiraJob Title:Home Manager

Coming from Portugal, a country renowned for its care for the elderly, Alex found their calling in the UK.

Their career journey spans from Scotland to London, beginning as a Registered Nurse at Colinton Care Home in Edinburgh and later at Uplands Care Home in Streatham. Now, as Home Manager at Kingston, they make a positive impact on residents and the team.

Alex's key to success is getting to know residents and the team, and fostering happiness. They maintain an open-door policy and actively assist the team, frequently seen in uniform.

Beyond work, they love fashion, shopping, and experimenting with new looks.

Their proudest achievement outside work is completing a nursing degree while juggling a part-time job.

Alex emphasises the importance of a caring "family" environment in care homes. Their advice for those seeking the right care home is to follow their instincts and look for inclusion and support in the home's atmosphere, whether as a resident, team member, or family.
