Overall Experience
My mother was cared for and looked after by the staff at Sidcup with compassion.
In the days running up to my mother passing away, we could not have asked for anything more. She was made comfortable in everyway possible, which we will always be truly grateful for.

We would recommend the Bupa home to others as we could not fault the staff who are very dedicated to their work.

Although my mother was very apprehensive about going to a nursing home, she eventually realised that we couldn't give her the 24-hour care she needed. The move was made just before Christmas. There were some teething problems until she got used to the staff and they got used to her. Overall, the standard of care was great. The staff couldn't have been kinder. The food was excellent. After two weeks my mother said to us that she was very happy in the home, she wished she had moved in earlier and that she didn't miss her flat at all. Sadly my mother passed away 2 weeks later. The staff had seen she was having problems and sent her to the hospital. My family are extremely grateful to all the staff there and cannot recommend them highly enough.

My dad has been in nursing homes for 5 years and the last year in The Sidcup Care Home has been the best year yet. The staff are excellent and not only do a good job but also have a 'family vibe' that really makes it feel like a home. The management team are friendly and make themselves available. They also take on board suggestions. I really appreciate how hard the staff work. I feel they really go the extra mile, from management to nurses to carers to reception and admin.

Mum has been here for 2 months and has settled in after a period of time. All staff are helpful and kind. Rooms are adequate but perhaps could do with some decorating. food seems fine and entertainment has been good so far.

My father in law was given the best care at The Sidcup. He was nursed with the dignity and respect he deserved. The staff showed great knowledge, skill and compassion. Welcoming and supporting our family through a difficult time.
The home has a warm and friendly atmosphere. It is kept very clean and we couldn't have wished for a nicer home for our dad to have lived during his time there.

I would not hesitate to recommend The Sidcup to anyone looking for nursing home care.

Exactly what I needed for 2 weeks, for respite following an operation for a complete shoulder replacement.
It was good to be able to walk and sit in the peaceful garden.

On the 9/6/16 staff arranged a lovely street party in the garden in honour of the Queen's 90th Birthday. Staff and volunteers were so cheerful and welcoming.

Overall Experience

Mum was well cared for in The Sidcup Care Home for the five years she was there. The home was very willing to accept visitors at all kinds of times through the day and evening (helpful as grandchildren were working and often visited later into the evening). Mum was able to bring her own belongings into her room.

The location was ideal for someone in her position (bed/chair bound) but keen to be taken out in her wheel chair to the very close shops and restaurants (especially the local curry shop, Wetherspoons and McDonald’s). The local church kindly took her to Sunday services every week, as well as to other special occasions.

As usual in this situation, mum had her favourite staff and those she was not so keen on. I do not think this is a reflection on any of the staff or management; it is just a human trait.

Many times I asked if she would like to consider another care home and every time she quickly and firmly replied that she wanted to stay where she was.

The overall experience was a good one for her weeks stay while I went away but she was pleased to get back home. Everything was really good and staff caring and kind. She did say the bed was not very comfortable and fell asleep in the chair. Maybe this had its reasons.

Ever since out mother came to live at The Sidcup on leaving hospital I and the rest of the family have known that she was well cared for and safe, she said that she was happy and the staff were kind and thoughtful and made her laugh, when she passed they not only looked after her with love but the whole family supported us at a very difficult time.

My mother was in this home for just three weeks having been discharged from hospital and needing nursing care. I was very apprehensive, having looked after her myself for some years. But I needn't have worried. They did everything they said they would, and more. The were kind and compassionate to my mother, and nothing was too much trouble. They seemed to genuinely care. Sadly she died there and they too seemed very upset, and treated us with great respect and empathy. Although I miss her very much, I know I made the right choice, they couldn't have done more.

Mums care on the whole very good, some excellent carers. Not always enough staff to cope. Not enough to occupy residents especially in the morning when just watching T.V. Activities staff do a good job in the afternoons for residents who want to go. It would be much better if key workers stayed on the corridor of their allocated residents to keep a good relationship.
