My partner has been in this home for a long time. Trying to educate the staff in the importance of oral hygiene has been a constant and ongoing battle! Just because he is disabled, staff seem to think he no longer needs to clean his teeth.

Wilsmere House presents a very good first impression. The staff are friendly, cheery and are always willing to help. The care environment is excellent and you are soon reassured that it is a safe place for your loved ones to be looked after. It is a very homely and cheerful house and everyone has time for the residents. I would certainly be happy to live there myself.

Staff in general in all areas are friendly, caring and make visitors feel very welcome and comfortable. On Whitegate ward, I feel staff are particularly caring with regard to all residents, treating them as individuals and getting to understand their specific needs. Staff work extremely hard at all times and always have a friendly and positive attitude. We feel we are very lucky to have this quality of care.

My mother as been at Wilsmere House for a couple of years now (almost 2 years). The house is kept lovely and clean. The staff are attentive and caring. The food is of a good standard.

During the CoronaVirus, I have been informed on a regular basis of decisions and plans for my mother's needs. Very happy she is resident here.

Review from V W (Relative of Resident) published on 10 January 2020 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience
My relative only spent 6 days in the home at the end of his life, however, they gave him love, dignity and understanding during this period in his life. He had suffered a poor experience in a previous home and staff calling him Sir meant so much to both of us.
When he became very sick the care and commitment of the staff were excellent. My relative loved the home and it held a happy memory for him when he, unfortunately, had to return to hospital.
The clinical care in the home needs to be commended and built on as this was the only home I found that understood liver failure.

I will be eternally grateful for the care and understanding the staff showed us. Thank you.

Overall Experience

My mother has been resident for 4.5 years and has been consistently treated with kindness and professionalism by her carers despite some changes of staff over the years.

The home is undergoing a major renovation at present which should enhance the environment for the residents when completed.

The quality of entertainments for the residents is good with new multicultural themed events reflecting the diversity of the residents introduced this year.

Review from Melanie P (Mother of Resident) published on 9 November 2018 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
The care for my daughter and support offered to my family has been exceptional. The nurses are calm, confident and make sure you are fully informed and involved when there is a medical change. They never make us feel that we are being over anxious, even when we are. The carers are lovely. They treat my daughter like a young woman, pay attention to her hair and personal hygiene and talk to her normally, with warmth and humour, even though she can't respond. We worried that her inability to communicate might result in pain or discomfort being ignored but the staff are excellent in picking up non-verbal communication. We feel we can trust the staff to anticipate her needs and provide for them.

The ability to get tea and coffee at any time is welcome. The administrator seems to know each resident by name and nothing is ever too much trouble. I like the fact that the manager makes herself available and is visible and that visiting is permitted 24/7 - signs of a well-managed home.

Hello, my name is Jibin and I am the Head Chef here at Wilsmere House. It’s been more than 15 years since I embraced the art of flavour. I had the opportunity to work with great Chefs around the world and acquired many skills and knowledge. Some of the establishments I worked at are 5-star Hotels, Fine Dining Restaurants and Luxury Senior Living Homes. I’m a very inspirational, detail-oriented, Disciplined and Creative Chef. Raluca RosculetJob Title:PhysiotherapistJoined: 2015
My name is Raluca and I’m a Senior Physiotherapist with over 15 years of experience, 10 of which I’ve proudly dedicated to Barchester. With a BSc and MSc in Physiotherapy, and a background in both hospital and care settings, I’ve found my true calling here—where care is personal, continuous, and deeply meaningful.
I’ve worked with a wide range of neurological conditions, including stroke, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, brain injury, etc. Personally, brain fascinates me—it challenges and inspires me every day! My passion for helping people regain independence is grounded not just in clinical expertise, but in compassion, teamwork, and connection.
I’m grateful to Barchester for supporting my growth, including through their Team Leadership Programme, which strengthened my ability to lead with empathy and purpose. Their values truly align with my own—placing people first, working together, and striving for excellence.

I live by the principle: ‘Love and do what you want.’ As a paradox, true love for what you do means acting with integrity, always doing what’s best without any expectations—not just for yourself, but for the people around you. In a team-driven environment like ours, that’s what makes the difference!
