The review was calm and good and informative.
It was carried out in a friendly way.

My mother was a resident at Wilsmere House since March 2017. Throughout her residence she was extremely well cared for, always looked relaxed, clean and smart. Unfortunately, mum lost her battle with her illness in August and the home was excellent with her end of life care. They kept the family well informed and involved. Mum passed away peacefully in no pain or distress with my sister and I. Mum was supported well and unobtrusively by the lovely, caring staff and we have been advised and supported by the home, following her passing.

Mum had been in another home but it was closing down. As mum was moving to an unknown home I had concerns of what it would be like. I found all the staff to be very proficient and caring from the nurse who was with mum when she passed away 2 hours before we could get to the home and to one member of staff whose support and outside the box help were beyond words.

Mum came into Wilsmere just over two years ago. She has always been treated with warmth, dignity and respect.
Although mum had dementia, she was content and settled at Wilsmere and felt at home.

I am very grateful to all the staff for their kindness and dedication.

My sister was admitted in July 2017, she is cared and looked after extremely well according to her needs. She is kept clean, clothes are washed regularly. Her room and bed covers regularly changed.

I would fully recommend Wilsmere House as the staff are so caring, friendly and compassionate to my sister. She is in a home from home. Excellent.

As soon as we entered the home we were made to feel very welcome and felt assured that my godfather would be well looked after.
The staff were always friendly and really cared for the residents, rather than just being a job.

I would recommend Barchester Wilsmere whole-heartedly.

I would recommend this care home to anyone who needed one because they looked after my brother to a very high standard from start to finish.
The staff were very loving and caring towards their patients, and their relatives.
They were always there when you needed them, they know their jobs and they all did it well without any complaints from the staff or me.
Even in my brothers last days, they knew what they were doing and done it professionally when we as a family were all over the place.
At the end, my brother went peacefully with dignity and respect and I can't thank the staff at Wilsmere House enough for all that they did.

Thank you.

We always had a beautiful welcome from staff, when we visited accompanied with an update on the resident's progress and stated of health.
When we had any queries, they were addressed immediately.

It would be unfair of me to name any one member of staff as they all contribute to make the resident we visit as comfortable as possible.

Sadly, our family friend passed away just over a week after moving to Wilsmere. However, during his brief stay there, the staff could not have been more caring and attentive towards him, making sure he was comfortable and content. Their support to us as visitors was also outstanding - compassionate and supportive. We would not hesitate to recommend Wilsmere.

Review from J F D (Son of Resident) published on 8 August 2017 Submitted via Postal Card

Daily care is average, but there is a staffing shortage, and very often the standards of living for residents is poor. For example 1) the resident will be sitting in their stool for 2 hours (which can lead to skin problems) and 2) residents are gathered in a corridor together with nothing to do, because there needs to be a staff attendant on them in other spaces, like the TV room or in the garden. I would only recommend here if there is a lot of family support.

Everybody here has been kind, understanding caring and friendly. They are all like one big happy family. The food was excellent and there was not one unhappy resident!
If my mother has to stay in a care home again it MUST be this one as I know she will be safe and well looked after.

Thank you to everyone who looked after her.

Hello, my name is Jibin and I am the Head Chef here at Wilsmere House. It’s been more than 15 years since I embraced the art of flavour. I had the opportunity to work with great Chefs around the world and acquired many skills and knowledge. Some of the establishments I worked at are 5-star Hotels, Fine Dining Restaurants and Luxury Senior Living Homes. I’m a very inspirational, detail-oriented, Disciplined and Creative Chef. We celebrate every one of our resident’s Birthday and my Kitchen team prepare homemade decorated cakes for their Birthday. The beautiful warm smile that our residents give when we present the Birthday cake is our greatest inspiration.

My name is Raluca and I’m a Senior Physiotherapist with over 15 years of experience, 10 of which I’ve proudly dedicated to Barchester. With a BSc and MSc in Physiotherapy, and a background in both hospital and care settings, I’ve found my true calling here—where care is personal, continuous, and deeply meaningful.
I’ve worked with a wide range of neurological conditions, including stroke, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, brain injury, etc. Personally, brain fascinates me—it challenges and inspires me every day! My passion for helping people regain independence is grounded not just in clinical expertise, but in compassion, teamwork, and connection.
I’m grateful to Barchester for supporting my growth, including through their Team Leadership Programme, which strengthened my ability to lead with empathy and purpose. Their values truly align with my own—placing people first, working together, and striving for excellence.

I live by the principle: ‘Love and do what you want.’ As a paradox, true love for what you do means acting with integrity, always doing what’s best without any expectations—not just for yourself, but for the people around you. In a team-driven environment like ours, that’s what makes the difference!
